    I used to keep my T4 loaded with Fuji NPH 400 and it was a fantastic match. From time to time I think about selling it since it's just sitting in a box but for now I'm keeping it in the event one of my kids decides to take up film photography. What a great first camera to learn on!

    My mate nabbed a T4 whilst volunteering at a charity shop a few years ago. He didn't know it was anything special but wanted to upgrade from shooting disposables. The staff were going to put it out for £20 but his boss let him have it for a tenner

    Amazing video!
    I bought the camera from the last video after watching your video on it! The Mirai.
    I looked and noticed that the T4 is EXTREMELY expensive and I think the prices are raising!
    Please keep these videos coming

    I just bought one for 400€ and it's going to be my "sidekick" camera to my main DSLR, something to capture more spontaneous moments and when I want to be more discrete. Like you said, uf you want a great film camera to use as your main camera you're better off with an SLR, but if your goal is to just take snaps in a not so serious way with it, then you're well served with the Yashica T4/T5

    Fair assessment.
    It's a good point and shoot camera that's certainly true but I don't think the current prices justify the performance.
    There are a lot better cameras for a lot less.
    I do have a Yashica T2 in my collection which I believe has the same lens setup but I only paid £10 for it untested, it does work just fine though.
    I've added your channel. I have a lot of retro camera content.👍

      "but I don't think the current prices justify the performance" - Totally agree ! - The Yashica T3 is a far better camera ! - It has the BETTER & faster f/2.8 35mm lens. It doesn't have the problematic POP-OUT motorized lens of the T4, and the build Quality and choice of materials are much better. Yashica truly went all-out on the T3..

      @@y2ktube Yeah the T3 is another hidden gem with the faster 2.8 lens.
      It's just certain models get falsely hyped up and prices get artificially inflated.
      The buyer should be aware there are much better cameras out there for much less.

      Yeah agree t3 and t2 are worth exploring however I prefer the look on t4/t5 it’s definitely more pocketable which personally is a key thing for these p&s

    I had one of these and love it - in the film days. Today, spending what used T4's sell for, on a digital P&S, would leave you with a farm more capable camera.

    I use a T4 as a travel cam or just when I want to not fuss around with manual... i dont know if its worth spending the 500+ on one but i do love it. I almost never get bad phots unless i personally mess up. I do love this camera and I will cry on the day it breaks.

    I loved mine so much but I lost it right about the time film became an anachronism so I never replaced it. Now they're properly expensive. The Canon digital point and shoots I've bought never matched it. I loved the stealthy viewfinder. Just a great camera. Super light and the lens made great shots.

    Just sold my T5 a couple of days ago. I liked it but I also think it's not worth the high price. Ended up getting a totally water-sealed (submergable) Nikon P&S for a third of the price which will give me even more flexibility and ruggedness for maybe a slight decline of image quality.

    • @maxkent
      @maxkent  Рік тому

      Very different! Was that the Nikon LW or whatever? Like similar to the L35AF but underwater?

    • @Fauxbourg
      @Fauxbourg Рік тому

      @@maxkentYes exactly! :) I wanted something rugged and flexible while still having a good enough image quality. Honestly I kept worrying a bit too much about keeping the camera safe when I was carrying my T5 which doesn't fit my use-case for a P&S. But it did produce some of my favourite film photos so far... the lens is certainly fantastic!

    • @y2ktube
      @y2ktube 11 місяців тому

      "Nikon P&S for a third of the price" - Well if you're speaking about the Nikon L35AW (aka. Nikon Action Touch), then YOU'RE absolutely correct about it being A GREAT P&S! But, they do all break with their advancing age. BUT ! Once properly serviced, it's the FINEST P&S ever made ! - BTW, if your images aren't as good as the tiny Zeiss lens of the Yashica's, then your Nikon Action Touch lens requires a simple internal cleaning (fog/haze can form after 20 years). I own most every EXPENSIVE P&S, and the Nikon L35AW is my favorite !

    Picked a dirty one on ebayer that hadn't had film / battery changed in 15 years. Gave it a wipe down, good as new. £200 , bargains out there if you look

    7:17 I think this is basically sums up the argument of "for the same amount of money you could buy this or that camera" and those suggested cameras are not point and shoots.
    The price is because people want point and shoots and not those other cameras, especially compact ones like this that can fit in your pocket and you cansnap a shot in 2 seconds with it

    Yes, the T4 and the Contax T2 are nice... BUT the Ricoh GR1(s/v) kills every p&s in my opinion. Especially because you have a lot more controlls. (And all that fear about the display is bs nowadays, because you can repair it.)

    • @maxkent
      @maxkent  Рік тому

      The GR1(s/v) does kill a lot of them (build isn’t as heavy duty though as the T2, 35Ti or TC1) but it does die, not even just the display, they are a ticking time bomb camera and I think that’s probably why they aren’t as popular as they should be. (I agree though, they are great and I’ll probs do a vid on one soon)

    • @mosesp6200
      @mosesp6200 Рік тому +1

      That they die is an urban legend. I bought mine 3 years ago and talked now to a lot of people who really have one and nobody had that experience. The good thing about that urban legend is that keeps a gr1 in good condition at a constant price of 600-700 € and it is not rising.
      (And sure titanium build is definetly way better!)

    • @maxkent
      @maxkent  Рік тому

      @@mosesp6200mmm, no smoke without fire. But like you say, as a result the price is lower than it should be (in todays market, not in reality).
      The one thing that surprised me with the Ricohs was how incredibly small they were, its unbelievable!

    • @mosesp6200
      @mosesp6200 Рік тому +1

      Yes the size and handling is top notch and the lense is sharp af. For example t max 400 with a ricoh is really comparable to the sharpest digital cameras - for me the reason why i shot t max 400 only one time 🤣
      And again: yes there are those rumors that they dont live long and it probably really happened to those 3 or 4 people that wrote about it. But its like only written in those few couple articles/posts you find online. And as i said i really talked to a lot of active ricoh shooters and they all had no bad experiences with it.

    • @y2ktube
      @y2ktube 11 місяців тому

      "BUT the Ricoh GR1(s/v) kills every p&s" - "That they die is an urban legend" - They ALL die as they're aging. The lens Pop-Out and AF system on the film GR1 and R1 units, run with a tiny RUBBER BELT (Like old fashion tape recorders, belts eventually require replacement). - BTW, I'm a professional camera technician...
