There *are* conspiracy in Skingrad! Bernadette was just being friendly, I see how he could find that suspicious, But, Toutius and Davide… well. Toutius regularly goes to see one of his friends in high places - Mercator Hosidus, who is conspiring against the count with ‘his friends’ Mondrar Henim and Arterion. I mention them because they both wear black hoods, just like Davide’s brother… So here is what I think happened. Glathir was following Toutius and saw him talking his buddy, Mercator, who then went to, Mondrar Henim and/or Arterion, but didn’t see either’s face, and put together that it was Davide, orchestrating some sort of government conspiracy through a hapless Mercator, Mercator would of course be protected as the Count’s aid. Not to mention the guards are all keeping, ahem, certain things about The Count under wraps, ahem. I also see three ways Glathir could have gotten dragged into things. 1. Glathir was contacted by The Count himself as a source while investigating Mercator and his friends and put 2 and 2 together to get 5 after answering some rather specific questions about people in Skingrad. (I know I’ve pulled random citizens aside to ask questions about interested parties and given them coins for it without telling them why I’m asking more than once.) 2. The Guard were looking for the Count, but since they are very protective of The Count, and secretive, they were suspicious enough for Glathir to start putting things together for himself. 3. The Mage’s Guild, who know The Count’s secret, and ‘have been helping him keep it’ have been employing enchantments to affect the minds of the citizens of Skingrad, and well, sadly there are consequences to using those sort of spells enough on certain people. But all three could be tied back to Glathir observing Mercator and his friends plotting against The Count, and just getting confused with no details. That’s what happens when both The Guards and Mage’s Guild need to cover for the local Count, details get blurred when someone notices actual conspiracies. But you didn’t hear any of that from me, now take this gold and keep it to yourself.
1) thank you you are too kind but 2) Gaston!! How did I not scry his schedule for more evidence. I cannot thank you enough for this. I should consult you BEFORE releasing vids 🤣
The thing is, when I did this quest I was convinced there was a conspiracy and someone was watching Glarthir, it just wasn't any of the people he thought it was. It's the guard captain, Dion. He does seem to loiter near Glarthir's house, and every so often, he will stop at a specific spot in front of the chapel, bend down and seemingly mess with something on the ground. I suspected that it was an info drop off or something like that. I kept trying to check that spot to see if anything ever showed up, but never found anything. Either way, Dion was the one who came across as genuinely suspicious and antagonistic toward Glarthir.
Yeah, but he's also the Guard captain of a town that has a known person with severe mental issues in it. Every time something gets out of hand, he's the one that has to deal with Glarthir and his detached sense of reality. He's constantly dealing with him, and likely has more of an idea of the downward spiral Glarthir's taking.
Though if we're reading into his voice tone and all, he sounds more tired and fed up than anything. Like, "Oh great, Glarthir again, what's he done this time?" Especially since we know he's tried to break into the Surilie Brothers' house at least once, his paranoia has very likely given him something of a criminal record
NPCs bending down seemingly picking something up appears just to be a random NPC animation as far as I can tell. Do you notice Dion doing that animation at the same spot ? If so that is... curious
@logangustavson Maybe it was just an oddity with my game, but yes. He kept doing that animation at the same spot in front of the temple, multiple times a day. I likely wouldn't have noticed if I wasn't already following people and watching their behavior. I first picked up on it while waiting for Bernadette to leave the house and while she was eating.
I always used the arena quest to start the dark brotherhood. Winning the final match also counts as murder and I didn't bring myself to murder any innocent beggar or other character. Murdering dozens of innocents in the ensuing DB-Questline wasn't a problem though. They had it coming, when the quest marker pointed to their heads :D

They are a race in touch with nature, so living in an artificial city made of cut stone and felled trees while having to follow bizarre social conventions and the pursuit of money is maddening. It's probably why the Shivering Isles has so many Bosmer, when they leave their natural habitat for soulless urban centers they go mad trying to make sense of it all. What might seem normal to other people is utterly incomprehensible to those who were raised to honor nature and never try to fight or dominate it.

Every quest can be solved with spells or other methods. It gives you a problem and let's you find your own solution. Compare that to Starfield letting you pass a speech check to get a meeting in a guy's office but it still acts like your sneaking in without a meeting. It was a fake choice.

Skingrad is a weird town... You have a haunted house directly across from the home available for purchase, with the former having a name of someone who doesn't actually exist in the game. Then you have the Dark Brotherhood quest that takes place there, followed by that disturbing alchemist dark elf lady who asks you about the legality of necrophilia... Top it all off with a vampire count, and maybe Glarthir might be actually onto something? There's something going on all right, it's just not what/whom he thinks it is.
I’m 30 minutes into the video and only just realized that you were the one voice acting the journal notes and they went ingame audio damn that’s a good job
Thank you so much for this video. I remember playing this with my little brother and he’s 21 now and actually mentioned the other week he still wonders if atleast some of it was true and there really were people after him
Oh, LOVE the presentation here. Obviously, you can’t expect great treatment or writing for mentally unwell character in The Damn Elder Scrolls ‘Blivion- disability, both mental and physical, has about as much presence in the games as a single pea under the fridge. It is still unfortunate though to see Glarthir in this state and the best thing people do for him is just… ignore and isolate him, further exacerbating his spiraling thoughts. Bernadette tried at least but the poor man needs more resources than one wine maker can provide. Probably a whole sophisticated healthcare system. But that would undermine the healing potion economy, and Big Phial can’t let THAT happen.
I seem to recall searching houses nearby to Glarthir's house, and finding one residence with a lot of Mythic Dawn paraphernalia. It's been a long time, though.
I absolutely Love your Oblivion videos and are really looking forward to the fighter`s guild, Mage`s Guild and the main Quest line videos of this!!! And maybe you will be the one to tell us what or who M'AIQ is and if he truly is Malacath in disguise !
I finally bought oblivion again to play after 11 years (honestly a first time play thru because I was a kid) and after playing Skyrim for years and learning the lore I'm having a huge amount of fun I couldn't as a kid or had I not learned over the years
Those coins are at least 1.3 oz in weight based on their size. 100 gold is current 338,988 USD. Are you sure that's NPC logic? Pritty sure the full price of a nice house being put into my lap in cash would make me REALY friendly.
I swear I watched a video of someone playing this quest and they save either Tutius or Davide riding with a horse to a lake talking to someone super later at night and then returned back to the city. Was super suspicious 😅
At the end I could have sworn I also found that note years ago and stashed it in one of my "All special notes and books" desk in Bruma... But never found any evidence during the actual quest.
The note sounded familiar to me, too. If there's no evidence of it in the game files, though, I guess it's possible that some popular mod or other added it quietly as a prank? Now _I_ feel like I'm a crazy conspiracy theorist.
@@Lanaestra I think I remember it from my xbox 360 days, but it's been an extremely long time since I remembered finding it. It's probably just a Mandela effect.

your impression of him was very good! got all the inflections spot on
Thank you kindly!
Alyied Revivalists? Like Umbacano in the Talos District?
BY AZURA BY AZURA BY AZURA! To lift my spirits after being stuck in traffic for an hour!
I dont know how i miss your uploads man. Even with the notifications on and the bell icon set to all i still dont get anything from your feed. STILL WONT STOP ME FROM WATCHING THE LORE UA-cam!!!
Love the channel, keep at it!
Much appreciated mate, from Aus! 🙏
Happy Halloween everybody
It's always refreshing to see another dash video about Oblivion, def these ones because they're interesting, W video
I was singing Watch Out for the entire video. I loved when you brought up the line about Totius Sextius
I’m 30 minutes into the video and only just realized that you were the one voice acting the journal notes and they went ingame audio damn that’s a good job
Always good to have a Dash vid on a Friday! 😄👍
Glarthir reminds me of the dutchess of dementia from the shivering isles DLC
When I first played that DLC I was so sure there was going to be some mention or relation between he and Syl!
So glad you made a video on this! It's one of my favorite quests.
I enjoy this so much! Amazing content, best wishes to you and your future projects! 🌻
Hey Potoo, always great to see you & thanks! All the best to you & yours
Thank you so much for this video. I remember playing this with my little brother and he’s 21 now and actually mentioned the other week he still wonders if atleast some of it was true and there really were people after him
My pleasure 🙏
Woa you disliked your own video 😅 18:03
Yo, this was epic bro. Really well made. Appreciate you
Appreciate it!
36:08 I love a good young scrolls cameo 🤍
Who doesn't 😍
I seem to recall searching houses nearby to Glarthir's house, and finding one residence with a lot of Mythic Dawn paraphernalia. It's been a long time, though.
I absolutely Love your Oblivion videos and are really looking forward to the fighter`s guild, Mage`s Guild and the main Quest line videos of this!!! And maybe you will be the one to tell us what or who M'AIQ is and if he truly is Malacath in disguise !
Oh yes! Been waiting for a video on this quest! Thank you!!
I HAVE to know where the art at 18:48 comes from. It is simply too good
Haha, you have a very interesting way of storytelling, good stuff!
Man I love your videos. They are simply the best.
Just as I thought
JUST AS I THOUUUUGGGHHHHTTT
I’ve had no internet for a week! A week! I missed so much! Like this!
Welcome back!
It's about time you got to this man!
Great video !
I used to watch your videos a long time ago and I have good news for you , your voice has significantly became sexier over the years x)
How dare UA-cam not give me a notification for one of my favorite Oblivion quests from my favorite UA-camr 😤
Devastated for us both. 😫
I finally bought oblivion again to play after 11 years (honestly a first time play thru because I was a kid) and after playing Skyrim for years and learning the lore I'm having a huge amount of fun I couldn't as a kid or had I not learned over the years
Been waiting for this thanks for making my day!❤
Happy Halloween! Looking forward to this one
I will always love glarthir because he gave young scrolls the voice for the halloween EP and was an absolute banger.
I can't see images of Glarthir anymore without the music of "Glarthir is Crazy" from early UA-cam playing in my head 😂
I love that his cartoon in the thumbnail is drawn as potato faced as the character himself.
The "what" was so prefectly timed lol
Like always amazing job with the video
Npc logic: That information is for friends only. 100 gold later....why thank you. Was that so hard friend. Man, i miss that game's mechanic.😅
Wait. Was that you reading the notes?? Dude. You're spot on!
i like how glarthir is the only npc in oblivion confused at oblivion npc behaviors
I like how you showed up to the meeting spot with a bright-ass torch.
Filming purposes! Everyone's so dark im Oblivion
"SHOW ME-" *dies*
Everyone else melting down about the election and I’m here enjoying oblivion lore lol
Thank you for your great Content dash. I hope you will make a complete story of the shivering isles soon
That's the plan! Thank you mate
Glarthir's ranting about The Blades, Mythic Dawn, and Maruhkati Collective sounds a lot like a IRL conspiracy theorist ranting about the CIA, Freemasons, and Knights Templar.
I miss the old thumbnail. Glarthir and his axe name a more iconic duo.
Finished with my women because she couldn’t help me with my mind, people say I’m insane because I am frowning all the time……..
Black Sabbath 🤟
"if you have any drugs or any alcohol? Give me some"
I don't know why, but the thumbnail reminds me of mitten squad thumbnails. Great video and thanks for the remider
Dude! I wasn't happy with the first one & saw the glarthir pic. Then modelled off Mittens thumb as a low key tribute. Great eye!
Happy Halloween 🎃
Whats crazy is all the times ive played the quest. I've never denied him an didnt know he goes on a rampage like that ive always used him to get some gold
Your voice acting is really good
What a delectable Halloween treat!
Every time he said one of his iconic lines I was prepared for the Glarthir Song
Thank you for all your work.
My absolute pleasure, David! Cheers
Glarthir is my boy
Been waiting for this one
I also like how you never found Glarthir's money basket in his house.
Thats upsetting
Another shameful example of the Septim Emperors' mismanagement of the Thamrielic mental health care system. It's time for a new divinely appointed dynasty to take over by violent means!
Sounds pretty extreme. Can I recommend women in ponds distributing swords as an alternative?
WAKE UP NOW! Dark Lore Dash made Another vid!
I like the cute little thumbnail.
This is my favourite quest in the Elder Scrolls series
