Doing a self tape reel is definitely useful! Casting wanna know how you win the room. Better than a whole bunch of one liner clips that have no weight or depth to them.
I have very limited options, I joined WeAudition to get a scene partner but I have had trouble setting it up. Could I just do some well lit with good sound monologues as a reel? Like 3 short ones. And what would be the best place to get monologues? Thank you for the videos by the way, they're very helpful.
Yeah, you can also do some monologues while you wait to get footage from work. I did a self-tape everyday last one and 7 days were monologues if you want to check those out. I linked all the monologues in each video.
I’m not sure if this has been asked before, but when making a reel, can you use scripts from your favorite movies? Can you reenact those for your demo?
Yeah, you can do that but you have to be careful and make sure you are able to do it in a way where you are featuring your acting instead of just choosing the scene because you think it is good.
Oh, thank you so much! I am so glad you commented. I really appreciate comments like this, it inspires me to keep making more videos. Please let me know if you have any other questions or video suggestions. :)
Hi Belgica! Just found your channel! Is it okay to use a script/scene from your fav tv show and do it for your demo reel? Not sure if that’s okay to do
Hi 😊 Usually it's best to use whatever scene or monologue shows your acting the best. Some people say to stay away from very popular shows as when people see it, they will think of the original actors doing it. I'd suggest looking into indie or student work to make an acting reel.
Hello Rin, all of the scripts I used were from self-tape audition requests from my agent, acting classes or audition requests from casting websites. You are also able to write your own. I just made a video on how I co-wrote a monologue with a friend based off of an experience I had. ua-cam.com/video/zs26X0F8s1s/v-deo.html
Hi Bélgica, Thanks for all your awesome tips. I’m in my senior year of HS. Which class or technique do you recommend me as a beginner acting student. I’m undecided between Sanford Meisner Center, Stella Adler and Lee Strasberg Institute. Please give me some advice. Thanks!
Hi :) If you are a beginner, you should try to audit as many as you can and see which style and instructor you prefer. My personal preference is Meisner but it is different for everyone.
Only if it was an audition that required you to sign an NDA. If you did have to sign an NDA, I would say to just not use it unless it is SO good that you really want to.
what if we’re just starting out and have absolutely 0% of work but we’re auditioning for a role and they ask for a demo reel ? do we just not do it or can we jus find scripts or monologues online and make self tapes ??
Hey! :) If I was you, I would get a small reel together to show you acting with self-tapes. This will give you a much better shot at getting an audition request or booking a job.
I could swear that the mole next to your right eye was next to your left eye in another one of your videos. Is it real or one of those fake stick on moles? If it’s real, can you get it removed, because it might be distracting to casting directors/producers/directors/etc? I’m just saying! However if it’s too dangerous to surgically remove it (because it’s so close to your eye), then I guess you can just hide it with makeup. Other than that your face is literally PERFECT!🤩
@@BelgicaPaola OK thank you, I don't have an iPhone I have a Samsung lol. IMOVIE is a great app for the iPhone, I gave back my iPhone because I don't have money for Apple smh

Very true!
Yes girl this is exactly what I needed it is so hard to get a reel these days with less work ... it’s like where do I start. Thank you 😩💕
You are so welcome! I am glad you enjoyed it. :)
Great reel! You make it sound possible. As an actor sometimes I see ONLY the big picture, when its really just a matter of significance moments!
Thanks!
I’m going to make a reel nowwww😂😂!!
Yes, you should! :)
I liked the reel especially the doctor sketch and the last one of you “in pain”😭💯
Thanks so much, Julian! 😊🙏
Omgg please I love it!! 4th one almost made me tear up 😅

Do you have to ask for permission to include your self tape auditions in your reel?
