I typically use my gaming headset (it has surprisingly good audio quality) and mess with voices in my closet... and I thought I was crazy for sitting my closet until now haha
Will probably get a proper mic in the future - but I'm mainly just figuring what I'm good at and practicing stuff. It's fun, but my family must think I'm crazy.

Would you recommend me to get more experience before making my VO reel, or to go ahead and just make it now so I have something to show anyone that would like to hire me. Hi Ruby, the best thing to do in auditions is to follow the instructions exactly. If they are asking for just monster sounds, then just send them that. If they didn't say how long, I would send 3 clips that are each no longer than 10 seconds.

It's impressive that you did that demo with a $70 mic...although if people actually wanna make a living off of VO, I'd say they need to invest at least a few hundred bucks in the mic, it being the most important part. An XLR mic with a decent audio interface and some rudimentary editing skills, since we're all stuck at home right now, we will have to edit everything. And given the situation, it's also best to put the demo together ourselves because if we get hired to do a gig, we'll have to at least bring the quality of the demo to the table, if not better.

Besides characters, I can do animal noises like I can do a convincing puma scream and I also can sing. I think if a person can sing fairly well, they can voice act, because voice acting requires hitting different ranges and pitches.
