AMD released a bios update that increases power limits and vram speed, did you test with the new bios?

@@naynay4058 Hardware Unboxed compared both vbios against the 2060 and found that the updated vbios on the rx 5600 xt is exactly identical in terms of performance on average across 12 games, while the first vbios is about 10-15 % slower or something I can't remember exactly

@@MikeHedges1993 AMD released a vbios update in response to Nvidia lowering the price for the rtx 2060 which saw it increase the TGP by 10 w up to 160 w and boosting core clock and memory clock. This sees the rx 5600 xt perform basically the same as the rtx 2060. Check out Hardware Unboxed's rx 5600 xt review, they tested both before and after the vbios update and discussed the vbios update.

By the look of your bios you didn't use the updated bios that changes memory to 14gbps and bumps clock speed.
Does this specific model allow you to upgrade to 14gbps?

That XFX card looks so good, kinda wish the 5700 xt Thicc versions had a black trim finish.
But it appears this edition also runs very hot and cools poorly. Fans not running fast enough? Poor cooler?
have you done any retesting with the new bios update that amd has released? its suppose to improve the cards performance by around 10% to combat nvidias rtx 2060 ko.

I got this about 3 weeks ago and I love it. I'm running it in a Razer core x chroma with my Thinkpad X1 carbon and it's killing every game I'm playing! I haven't had any black screen issues that others have reported either.

Can we squeeze that XFX into Dan Case A4 now? :) Actually.. I'm still wondering what 5XXX cards can I fit into my Dan Case A4 currently (except blower ones) Powercolor 5700XT I know, but that seems to have issues, so I would like to stick with some other brand (asrock, asus, sapphire, msi etc) I'm still on my Sapphire RX580 Pulse on my hackintosh Dan A4 (I hate that I'm forced to use AMD cards here actually, but thats that) - that has some rendering issues (halo around the fonts), didn't have that with my EVGA cards 1060 or 1080 or 1080ti.
You need to do a video on the 5700 with unlocked overclock cap. Honestly it kills the 5700xt value as its within 5% clock for clock and overclocks just as well. Mine does 2000mhz at 1.1v completely stable all day. That's quite modest and matches the 5700xt in every benchmark I tried with the one I returned lol. That's just my 24/7 clock on a reference card. It goes much further.
This review kind of misses the point, the rx 5600 xt mostly competes with the rtx 2060 which Nvidia recently lowered prices on. The GTX 1660 ti was already killed by the GTX 1660 super. The main comparison should be with the 2060, which the rx 5600 xt performs mostly identically to after AMD's vbios update

For SFF builds, is there any reason to go with anything besides the Powercolor Red Dragon or vanilla AMD GPUs? It seems like they have surprisingly great thermals and are compact enough to fit into pretty much any case.

How is the encoder on these RX 5000 series compared to NVENC ?
I have an MSI RX 5700 MECH OC, I installed MSI Afterburner as I did always with my cards, I applied a custom fan curve to the gpu, where the fans arent spinnig until the card hits 35°C.
In gaming, the rest of the fan curve is working, as I can hear it is a bit louder, how i managed it, but in idle, when it is only around 32°C, the fans are spinning, and they shouldnt do that cuz I applied that they would do not spin under 35°C.
So what can be the problem that the idle fan curve isnt working?
Random question about mini pc's. Will a mini pc with an aio water cooler go through security for carry on luggage at an airport? Or is there to much water in it?

Have you tried retesting these graphics cards?
If the card is not throttling, is there a problem with 90C memory junction temp? Fan curves out of the box should be optimized to just prevent throttling at lowest RPM possible, and if that's the direction XFX took, kudos to them!

Hey bro. By any chance, do you have the BIOS of the RX56XTD6F46? I used the wrong bios and looks like the bios I need is the one that has 14gbps. I have the XFX RX 5600 XT Thicc II Pro 14gbps
Got this exact card a few days ago for $359 CDN ($249 US). Did a few benchmarks before and after the VBIOS update. XFX site claims a 7% increase with new BIOS. Ryzen 5 2600X, 16GB 3200 CL14 DDR4. I saw a 3.5-4% gain. Timespy was 6707 and Rise of the Tomb Raider was 93.7fps w/ old BIOS. 6977 and 97.7fps w/ new BIOS. No 7% gains there. Base clock is up from 1460 to 1560. Max clock up from 1642 to 1753. 100W max draw on the old BIOS, 114W max on the new BIOS. Saw jumps to 130W in Lobby screen in COD Warzone. Getting 120-140 FPS in that game on High Settings. Temps have never gone over 89C junction, or 79C GPU. Have not tried any overclocking. Hope this helps. Good upgrade from my GTX 1060 3GB. Double FPS in most games on higher quality settings.

Excellent review as always! Looks like that 1660 super would be a very good pick for a budget streaming rig - considering its using the same NVENC chip as the RTX lineup!

A little late, but that depends on when you buy it and if your lucky. But by now it probably does.
Question: Should i switch my Rx 590 for the Rx 5600xt, or save up some more and go straight for the Rx 5700 (non xt), OR wait a bit and see what will "big Navi" bring us (even tho i suspect it will bring better performance BUT for much higher price than that of either 5600xt or 5700).

When I choose graphics cards, it depends on performance I can get for the budget and that alone. Not even considering the noise and power consumption.
But dang doesn't these cards look sexy af?! Specially that XFX 5700 Thicc II. This might be the only time I'm getting a graphics card, the deciding factor being the looks LMAO that doesn't make any sense but whatever, this is hot! (not a pun at all)
I like how you show each cards MSRP, but then...when you go over to an online vendor/New Egg/BH Photo/Best Buy/Amazon, not one of of these cards is currently available at MSRP. The top three from top to bottom are the only cards at around $70USD above their MSRP right now.🙂 I found this card the 5600XT (from Sapphire Pulse) for just about $300 the other day and I'm glad for the meantime, until I can buy an RTX 3060Ti maybe six months from now, perhaps prices and stock will be much better.

Hey, if this is stock clock at 1600MHz I think it's the original vBIOS before Nvidia's shenanigans with the 2060 price.
i have this same 5600xt and when i use these settings when playing gta5 it makes the whole screen turn green after about ten minutes of play and restarts my system. When i play halo it seems to be fine. Im new to this pc thing if anyone can help.

@@NovaDoll you need to do that manually, that's technically a overclock. For it to be fair, you also need to overclock a 2060.

Bad choice. He didn't have the bios update in this review. 5600Xt with bios update is equal to a 2060 and beats it some titles.
The problem with recommending the 1660 is that it's not long in the tooth. At least the AMD card is newer. Am I missing something?
Its a shame devs wont use DX12/Vulcan crossfire optimization code in games. 2 RX 470s would kill these for $100.00.
I have little interest in the 5600XT as I have already have a 5700XT. Hopefully AMD has their slower cards out of the way so they can bring out something faster before year's end.

I would say, my RX 570 OVERCLOCKED with Ryzen 1700 OVERCLOCKED and 3000Mhz CL16 RAM OVERCLOCK to 3200 CL14.... My scores as compared to this chart is is like 11-14 fps more in those games. For example, in Assassin Creed Origin I get around 59 Average FPS @very high settings.
Rx 5600 XT on my recommendation was x5 so i will watch them all.

At one time, gaming consoles had to stay in their lane. More costly gaming pc's could give you better specs. Now that I know gaming consoles are just proprietary pc's(AMD tech inside), gaming pc's are now for people with money to burn. And not even the $500+ graphics card can natively hit 60 FPS on 4k. But next gen consoles will...Meh....Trickle down technology. A little bit more performance for a lot more price. If they give you the best, then money stops flowing. Drivelous...

EVGA GEFORCE RTX 2060 KO GAMING is $299 USD on nVidia's site but that's it...all other 2060 boards are still $320-350.
