I haven’t had this in over a decade, my mother (Greek) passed away, and she always made this for me. It’s so delicious and comforting. It’s a childhood memory and I tear up watching this. My grandmother made this for me then my mother . This recipe gives me the feels ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Delicious 😋 My husband is Egyptian, I am Mexican and he is always asking me if I know how to make a meatball white soup that he ate in Greece and I was very confused, but thanks I will make it soon. In Mexico we also add rice to meatballs.
I just made it the day before, but I added potatoes and carrots also. I never tried chicken broth. So this week I will try it and see. Thank you, Akis 🎉❤🎉❤ Filakia from Mo treal, Canada
I just made this for dinner tonight. Wow! I should be Greek! Sooo good. Simple clean ingredients. I loved it.i By the time you cut up the meatballs with your spoon and get some broth on there too..you end up slurping the broth through the meatball which is perfect coz it has a tiny bit of arborio rice in it..I used my homemade chicken bone broth that had hints of lemon in it. What a winner of a dish. 3 meatballs & broth, I'm full. I forgot about the feta & bread. Oh well, next time. 👌😋💛
Akis, I love to watch you cook and to listen to you speak English with your Greek accent! 😄 I grew up (in the US) with Greek grandparents and many other Greek relatives and listening to you brings so many memories. You remind me so much of my cousin Stathis, (although he doesn't cook 😂.) I remember Yiayia used to make this dish and I loved it. She's been gone a very long time, 50 years, but watching you make this I can almost taste it from memory!
Yes, yes, yes!!! Will look forward to making this very soon and serving it with the toasted bread slices and feta. Thank you so very much for all the years of sharing your fantastic Greek recipes. 🥰🌷🦋 🇬🇷 My cousin and her friend are visiting Greece the end of this month for a fortnight. My family has always enjoyed visiting Greece. They are from Europe so it’s an easier trip for them. I’m in American but look forward to staying in Greece for a nice visit someday on one of my trips over. 🙋♀️🥂✈️
I love this dish. Thank you so much for sharing your delicious recipe with us. You are truly talented please continue with what you are doing and God bless 🥰🙏🏻
Oh my goodness! This recipe is absolutely delicious... this is now a staple meal at our house and will be scouring Akis Kitchen for more recipes to plan a multi-course Greek meal for friends and family.
In Russia we have a pretty common dish called “yozhiki” (the hedgehogs) - it’s almost the same but without lemon and this sauce. We cook it the same way and serve without water (but my Grandma has used to serve it with a little bit of water). Delicious one!
@Igor Rogovtsev Azeri Kufta has completely different flavor profile. Imo too heavy, gamey and greasy in comparison to this recipe where mint and lemon reign supreme.
un grand bonjour de france hier soir je recevais des amis et j'ai fait un repas enrierement grec de l'entree au dessert , toutes les recettes de votre chaine youtube. bravo a vous et grand merci
Hi Akis, I certainly love Greece, your culture and beautiful country. I just love your recipies, your energy, you are really good. I am from Portugal where we also share Med food. This will probably be my 20th Akis recipe and each one so far has turned out to be INCREDIBLE. My Greek boyfriend's family approves, so there's my proof! I also love your recipe book, Akis. Still working on my Greek and translating the recipes, but I'll get there eventually!
Men are always the best chefs ever! They make cooking appear light & easy! More Power & Keep it up bro. It looks really awesome. I will try doing this myself soon.
I love the way he speaks English with that Greek accent. And I love his recipes, he uses ingredients easily available anywhere in the world, specially in India. Thanks Akis for such amazing recipes, I have tried a few of your recipes and they are always a hit in my family. Can I use chicken mince for this recipe?
It's nice to see your channel grow , started watching when you only had 2000 subscribers. Love your recipes. Will try this with chicken mince. Thank you 😇🌼
I cooked your recipe today. I couldn't find dill, I used celery instead, just a little bit(sorry😅) and bones broth instead of water, but it still turned out delicious. Thank you 🤗

Meatballs always have carbs at least in Greece. Even if not rice, bread is added (watered bread or toasted). But cooked ones most times have rice it is good match (soft rice, white rice)
Yoo Akis I really like your video`s and cooking. I like cooking and the greek kitchen. Can you make bifteki sometime i really want to learn that in my own kitchen :) Please continue making nice meals, take care my friend.
... asks Lakis how many meatballs he wants and eats them himself in the end 😂👍🤟. So funny. Great recipe, never have done it this exact way bit it is really the best. My family almost killed me for the last meatball...
Thanks for the great recipe. Would it work to use fish instead of beef to prepare this meatball soup ? If yes, is there something I should consider (like precooking the rice, so that the fish doesnt have to cook so long) ?
I made the soup today and it was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend people trying this it is so easy. It is the best soup that I have ever made. thank you so much for showing me how to make this. I will be trying your chickpea stew this weekend. I can't wait to try that.
The title for this should be Balkan meatball soup lol. as I believe most of the Balkan countries ranging from Romania, Bulgaria, Albania, Macedonia, Serbia etc etc etc, ( maybe Turkey too, not sure) all have their own version of this kind of soup. Many of the countries in the Balkan region share similar dishes and This seems to be one of them, didn’t know until watching this video.
It is originated in the Ottoman Empire, and it is originally called "yuvarlama" or "sulu köfte" (yuvarlak means round in turkish) so greece peoples lived 500 years with turks(also Balkan countries) and they learnt that from turks and gave another name(they did this to other foods too, so you can see turk-greece cuisine is almost the same.), changed the food a little bit(we are doing that smaller and more) but at finally, it is normal.I hope you understand me 😉have a nice day✌
@@adnan.apaydin maybe : but were creative long before them. and as i have said before , scientificaly proven, ottomans used to change names in recepies and ingredients in the countries they conquered so as to present them as theirs. every history searcher knows that. the point is in many countries with similar climate they had similar ingridiends and cooked it similar ways. you can call it yuvarlak.. i will call it 'shit' but i have to like it.
I hate dill. Makes me vomit for some reason. I do it with Parsley and chuck in some half cut carrots. So glad you made this video Aki, yuvarlakia is one of my favourite dishes.

My Grandmother always said a soup should giggle not laugh, in terms of temperature. Bravo Akis, I'm making this soup tonight!
You can also add potatoes and carrots to the soup, it's really delicious.
