    Thanks a lot for the series of videos ! A cylindre juste broke on my SJ413, i was checking a leak on the oil pan and found little bits of piston in the bottom of the pan. After better check, piston n°2 is broken but not to the segments. I think i'll need these videos soon, thank you again, you just saved me a lot of time ! :)

    This man uses assembly lube like I use spicy barbecue sauce. Why not just put it in a bucket and dump it over the whole thing 😂 very informative videos

    This looks like it's the same head that's used in the Vitara 1.6 8V. A friend of mine bought one that apparently has a blown freeze plug in the head (why are there freeze plugs inside the head?!). To exchange it, the camshaft needs to come out. Am I correct in assuming that in order to take the camshaft out, you have to take the head off, since the shaft comes out the back of the engine? What a PITA.

    So I've taken my valve cover off to adjust valve lash and found two of those screws missing, one on each shaft at cylinder 3. I'm sure it's been like that for a long time but do you think there would be a significant oil pressure dip with those gone? I was just going to take my car for a burn up to a lake but I'm not sure where to get specialty screws that would fit, locally on a Saturday afternoon. Think the local auto parts store or do you guys still sell the upgraded ones?

    What oil should I use when first starting a rebuild engine?

    • @lowrangeoffroad1
      @lowrangeoffroad1  8 років тому +3

      +Ivan Cumpian We recommend using a good quality conventional (non-Synthetic) motor oil during the first 500 miles of operation. After that we recommend changing the oil and filter. You could go to a synthetic at this point if you wish. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

    Does anybody know the part number for the tiny screws on the ends of the rocker shafts or if there is a replacement? I was a bozo and stripped them out thinking they were holding the rocker shafts in there. I proceeded to drill them out, but it turns out I was not supposed to remove these? They are just for guiding the shaft out? I can see right through the shaft now. Woops! I might just put a generic bolt in there but I need to find the thread pattern so I can tap it and clean the threads out! I have no idea what it is! HELP!

    Why u using water to install seals? It's starts to rust the spring in the seal

    • @lowrangeoffroad1
      @lowrangeoffroad1  8 років тому +1

      +Hamisutca Sehanyszam We have found that if oil, assembly lube or gasket sealer is used on the outside of the seal, it tends to push back out of the seal cavity when installed. With water the seal goes in to the seal cavity and stays there. As to the rusting of the spring, we haven't seen that incurring. But it is something we will watch for because of your comment. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    why water instead of say Vaseline or similar oily products on the seals?

    • @lowrangeoffroad1
      @lowrangeoffroad1  7 років тому +2

      With vaseline or oil the seal has a tendency to push back out. With water it seems to stay in place a lot better. Try it. It works. Thanks for watching and commenting.
