Glad to "see" you again. Love Novablast which is Asics wild cousin to this shoe. Adidas Prime X has become a game changer. so weird but this is the one shoe that has allowed me to open up and really run without pain. (I HAVE NOT TRIED NIKE supershoes yet) On sale but many sizes are gone . 60 years old. 200 pounds. Down from 215 on low carb diet.
wow congratulations on the weight loss! I don't know if you were referring to the Invincible from nike but that's been the most forgiving shoe I've ever run in. It doesn't work for everyone though .I enjoy the novablast as well. The prime x looks scary to me though lol. but if you're into the really high stuff New Balance has the super-comp trainer out now. Not sure if you've heard of that one .
@@filoIII lol diving like Michael Phelps. Stronger core, glutes, and hip abductors, take some of the pronation forces away but you can only prevent so much of the instability.
@@heavyrunnerweightlifter4392 So far it's been holding up well (100+ miles), the bounce is still there and the outsole barely shows any wear. I also have the Endorphin Speed 2 that I also really like, but use the GR3 more often because it's more stable.
Most definitely. I personally put majority of my weight in the forefoot so I'm hoping lighter people with a flatter foot strike will experience less compression.
I think the rocker is amazing but after a while the shoe has a forward tilting motion that I find to be most suitable for walking or running.. a constant forward motion. If your foot is narrow then it will be more comfortable. My foot is wider at the midseciton so if I'm not moving the shoe will feel like I'm almost over pronating. . but thats just me.
Hi brother. SO MANY CHANNELS about skinny people doing shoe reviews. I like them, but WE bigger people need reviews! My few videos show how to grow muscle. Thanks for your work!
I am also a heavyweight runner (-220). I have really had to experiment with a lot of shoes to really figure out what works for me. I seem to have luck with firm shoes or pebax shoes tht hold their shape. I feel like hokas that I’ve had would not feel the same after 100 miles. Even the endorphin speed 2 sort of lost its magic at 100 miles. I ordered this shoe today, but after watching this review I’m wondering if I should return them and go with the noosa tri 14
I am completely with you. I'm sure the Noosa will last longer, but I can tell you though that the plate in the glideride will add endurance to the shoe. My bondi x is so worn in but it's the plate that continues to make the ride fun. I believe the plastic plate will make this shoe even better than the bondi x but only time will tell. Since I recorded this video the midsole hasn't sunk any further so I'm thinking it just settled .I'm going to do a 100+ mile review of this shoe to follow up on its durability in the future.
The fit is super nice .. That's actually something I almost never really touch on in my videos. I'll add it going forward. True to size in every way. Just not for people with flat feet. I have the shoe at 150 miles and it still feels like day one.
Interesting. Yes, the Novablast does make noise and I'd have to say that the Glideride 3 has a similar sound. Flight Foam blast + has hollow properties that make noise but Ive never noticed it that much. Currently the loudest shoes I have are the Endorphin Pro 3's. Theyre actually embarrassing lol. To me, there are only a handfull of shoes that are quite though.
I’ve heard that the more PEBAX based foams like what Nike and Saucony use in their high end shoes do not break down as quickly as other foams like EVA or whatever FlightFoam Blast is. Do you think that there is truth to this idea?
I would agree. Beaded pebax is probably best bet for longevity/performance feel. Lightstrike pro is my favorite foam. I'm sure its a supercritical pebax mix.
@@heavyrunnerweightlifter4392 I’m thinking about getting the Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 when it comes out in August, as long as it looks like it’s engineered to last a long time. I will also look at the Craft CTM Ultra 2 because it’s supposed to have long lasting foam and it has an outsole for some traction in light trails as well as pavement.
@@heavyrunnerweightlifter4392 Fantastic! Much appreciated. I need to review your past videos to see which Adidas shoes with Light Strike Pro that you like.
Hello, the glideride is great for walking if you don't have wide feet and don't over pronate while walking. the base of the sole is kind of narrow. I believe the Nimbus 25, the one that came out earlier may be better because it has a similar rocker.
Sorry for asking and feel free not to answer this but how much do you weigh? Just want to get a reference so I know if this shoe will last longer for me who is 6’1 and weigh 196lbs
It's okay. 5,10 215. I feeling your pain . The shoe will last much longer than I thought. I'm going to do a 200 mile review but right now it's almost exactly the same from break in .
@@heavyrunnerweightlifter4392 I've always been kind of heavy but recomping with significant strength increases and weight lost from about 230lbs down to 186lbs. I'm not sure I qualify as heavy anymore but certainly am compared to youtubes skinny elite athlete / marathon runners. I'm certainly not looking for that physique. My real focus is gym and weight lifting but I got into running and enjoy a couple of 5k runs a week at a 10-11km/hr just for the feeling and cardio. I rarely manage to squeeze cardio into my weightlifting and when I do it's mostly been doing on treadmill - the last time I went on the road I got horrible shin splints. I have high arches. I'm looking for some new shoes - tried the invincible 2 as I thought soft cushioning might help. My core was overworking like crazy to keep stable though and my legs felt quite battered the day after. I'm really not sure which way to go. I might try the glideride or more v3 or maybe the speed 3 next or maybe I should go with something more stable like a guide 15 or tempus. I don't really ever run fast though so it's not like I need a performance shoe. It's hard to find something very soft and cushioned but also stable.
@@MadelnMachines I know exactly what you're saying. Honestly, I don't think you have to be over 200lbs to be a heavy runner. I feel like 180 and up is heavy if you're not over something like 6ft,2in. It's tough though. I've been preparing a video explaining it but I had terrible shin splints for my whole first year of running. The treadmill doesn't help too much because it makes it easier to go through the gate cycle and reduces the impact on your legs. Squats, hip abductors, deadllifts, core workouts, running lower to the ground, running at a much slower pace, and shoes that are a lower profile, will take the shin splints away over time. Then you can really introduce the speed and distance if that's what you're interested in. It stinks but the softer shows will make your instability worse, like you mentioned with the invincibles. I feel like building the leg strength for running is worth it though because alot of the softer shoes are alot of fun . So far the softness stable shoe I've ever run in is the Hoka Bondi X when it's fully broken in. You just have to make sure that plate is fully flexible. Now that I think about it, I completely forgot to do a 100 mile review of it.
@@heavyrunnerweightlifter4392 I think part of the initial problem with shin splints was caused my running shoes - some very firm beat up few years old Nike revolution 5s that I lifted weights in all the time. Yeah I do two pretty thorough leg days per week. The problem is I can barely even fit in running at the moment so when I do run I want it to have minimal impact and fatigue and very low recovery time so it doesn't interfere with my leg days, rest days and other weight training days. Maybe something like a Tempus or Guide / Ride 15 or Mach 5 or speed 3 might be a good start rather than going max cushion super soft. I do hear the More v3 are very stable for their level of cushion though. I'm not sure about the stiffness of a carbon plate - It might cause more issues than it solves and i'm probably never running fast enough to benefit from it.
I would say this if you don't mind a slightly more unstable ride the Glideride 3 is better. It's probably not as squishy as the Nimbus 24 but it makes the entire running process very smooth and forgiving.
Just ordered my pair, your review really helped my figure out a good comfort to structure ratio thank you.
Awesome ! Please ,don't hesitate to comment later on what you thought about this shoe.
