This was my Ironman shoe. The average pace for the marathon portion of the marathon is 12min/mile. I was faster than average but absolutely no use for a carbon plate and yes, I was walking up the hills. This shoe kept my feet turning over to the very end. The second half of the marathon was faster than the first. Perfect shoe for just grinding out hard miles.
It’s interesting because this video is not getting the same kind of views that my other videos tend to get. But just about every person in the comments is talking about how much they love this shoe.
@@kofuzi Its not a 'sexy' shoe. People want faster, propulsive and lighter shoes these days. It is a 'wife' material - dependable, stable and durable. Easily at least 1000 km type of shoes.
@@kofuzi few have tried it, but once they have they never go back - hence the love from the converts. Perfect long run shoe for my biomechanics, up to half mara pace. Thanks for spreading the love on this one!
Nice review. The Glideride 3 is my daily trainer with about 300 miles on it. Like it a lot. Like you, I don't like the over padded heel and I have crushed the heel because the shoe is hard to put on with all that padding (I miss pull tabs. ☹️). I'd like more colorways.
Glideride 3 is available in Europe for 90$ currently. Just got my pair recently and I love to have my long runs in it. Its extremely comfortable and the "plate" that it has adds a bit of stability. Nobody seems to be talking about it but it has been my favourite shoe in a long time.
HIGHLY UNDERRATED. I have the Glideride 2. It’s been my go to recovery/ long run shoe. It’s my “stability” shoe without it being a true stability shoe. The Evoride 2 is my daily/tempo shoe.
Great and highly underrated is what the Asics Glideride v3 is Kofuzi! Everyone's foot is different but this is probably one of the best shoes to run in for me! It definitely could be used in so many types of runs like you say. Currently rotate with the Gel-Nimbus 24(on sale) Gel-Nimbus 24 TR(trail version also on sale) Glideride v3 Magicspeed v2!
Hi kofuzi, Great review like always. I remember you used to make reviews on socks (in running gears video I think) and they were very helpful I wish if you can do that again,, also have you thought about making videos like Best budget shoes? Best running socks? Thanks
Definitely Glideride3 underrated shoes, but for me, these were my best shoes until now Feb23, compare Novablast3 or Nimbus25, I've done 286miles with this Glideride3, and only 2 things I'm not happy about on Glideride3, 1st I agree with u it similar with Edge+ but Glideride3 seems to be can't hold rocker shape as good as Edge+ while running since it only uses EVA plate vs carbon plate on Edge+ but I like the idea of rocking effect, 2nd it's very good for long distance but for me after done 15km the shoes became heavier because upper mesh, tongue, and insole quite padded so it was absorbing my sweat, surprisingly the weigh after 15km became 412g compare only 278g (us9.5) before running. But overall for my running style I'm more prefer Glideride3 compare Novablast3, Nimbus25, NB1080 v12, and last I hope Asics will consider producing Superglide like what they do on Superblast from Novablast3 :))
I have to disagree. Also a Clydesdale. It's too firm for long or recovery runs, and too clunky for tempo runs. I really want to like it, but much prefer the endorphin tempus and novablast 3. I run about 35 miles a week, and weigh 220lb. Unfortunately I just am not a fan of this shoe
@@stavitjo1 I’m 102kg not sure about pounds… think it’s about 230ish. I’m running 80k a week which is approx 50 miles..?? Glideride is an incredible show for long runs. I also set my 10k PB in them which is 47:34. Not crazy fast but just for reference of what pace I use them for. I find they work best on that steady long run pace. They might be firm compared to an invincible haha but that’s about it. This shoes are pretty soft. Triumph 20 is another great show for bigger runners.
As a bigger runner, I have mixed feeling about them. They're definitely comfortable, but they don't really work for me for anything other than very easy short runs. With my size, the rocker flattens out on impact, so they don't really do what they're designed to do (possibly just an issue with my pair, because I never experienced that in 2 pairs of the Glideride 1) and they soak up sweat (again, maybe just an issue for me as a heavy sweater living in SouthEast Asia). I'm at about 350 miles in them, so I've gotten my money's worth, but I much prefer the Novablast.
This shoe at least contributed to me developing plantar fasciitis in both feet after 15 years of running without it. It holds your toes at extension in the forefoot with that rocker which places the fascia under strain, imagine pulling a violin string too tight with your toes held upward. It's a lovely smooth ride but I don't feel that it's anatomical in how it treats your foot, at least for me.
Gave me knee pain after only 2 runs in an area where I developed a skiing injury. I’m fine running in other shoes, even those with a rocker, but the extreme toe spring seems to put more pressure on the knees. I’ll probably try running in them again after my mileage ramps up, but I’m a bit afraid… It’s too bad because these feel great.
@@numbers7905 It's enough that I think a disclaimer needs to be made about this shoe about people's sensitivity to a rocker that holds your toes at extension. There are rockers that enable your foot to be held in a relaxed position (ie, underneath the shoe) but bending the toes up like this shoe does I think raises the risk of injury.
@@steveh5242 do you have any suggestions for rockered shoes with a neutral position of the toes? Because of toe issues, I need a rockered shoe with a stiff forefoot. The glideride 3 held my toes at the maximum possible extension, making things worse. I also noticed it makes me pronate noticeably more than other shoes.
@@steveh5242 thank you. I tried the shift 3 but ended up buying the shift 2 because it is supposed to be stiffer than the shift 3. and it was available for 55 Euros. I thought the clifton might be too flexible, but I will have a closer look.
I would also recommend the Glideride 3 little brother/sister shoe for fast/tempo workout shoe, the Evoride 3. They are very very light and the rocker makes the toe off fast and smooth. They were so light, that when i got them at the pick up point, i thought they had sent me an empty box. Dont know if you tried the Evo 3, Mike, if so, what was your experience with them? Once I have a chance, I'll definitely get a pair of Glideride 3
I loved the first version and bought 2 pairs. I ran over 800 km in both of them before I retired them. Asics unfortunately ruined the Glideride with the second version for me. Just non-responsive hard bricks and nothing more. Maybe. I'll look into v3 or v4 and try my luck again. :)
These are significantly different to the 2. It’s a softer ride because of that top layer of FF Blast + but because it’s softer I find it does dull the rocker a bit (don’t get me wrong, you can still really feel the rocker). Like you I much preferred the 1 to the 2, and I love these. So may be worth checking out!
The top layer of foam seemed to bottom out and feel hard after ~150 miles for me. I'm 310 miles in and it doesn't feel nearly as good which is a shame as those first 150 miles were pure joy. I do have to praise the EVA plate as it's the only "plated" shoe that doesn't aggravate my soles unlike other plated shoes (including the nylon plate in the Endorphin Speed 1)
it's pretty similar in my mind. I think if you took the bottom two layers off the glideride, it could feel pretty Rebel-like. but with the bottom two layers, you get the Rebel feeling with a bit of support at the end of the footstrike
For some reason the glideride 2 is like standing on a pair of bricks by contrast to the glideride 3, while the original glidride is heaven but not as squishy as the 3
I just got 100k on mine and don't understand why not more people are talking about this shoe. Maybe it's because it isn't marketed as heavy as the Novablast or Nimbus, which is a shame. I'm pairing them with Endorphin Speed 2s as my speed and race day shoe and Novablast 2s as my second pair of daily trainers.
One of the best running shoes out there - they eat the miles and enjoyable to run in. I couldn’t fault it bar some initial heal rub….in the UK you can buy them for £90, we only have 2-3 colourways.
Amongst the duel density foam daily trainers, I'm leaning more towards Adidas shoes. Lightstrike and Lightstrike Pro is a great option for both performance and durability. I'm also looking forward to the upcoming Vomero 17 with a new midsole design. More options to choose from.
Perfect timing. I've been thinking about replacing my Novablast with the Glideride because I really like running in shoes with a nice rocker. Currently, I also have the More v4, which is super chunky but also has a nice rocker.
I wonder how far or close this is to the Gel Kayano. They look identical except for the Gel. Same FF Blast+, then a bit sturdier LiteTruss mid sole, and Ahar+ to finish it off. Bounce and mild sturdiness plus luxurious padding on the inside.
I’m a long time Asics runner - in fact, this is a great feeling shoe, but it’s definitely tighter in the forefoot as compared to any other Asics shoe including the Metaspeed sky, and a lot tighter than the Novablast.
Way better walking shoe than the novablast 3. I wore the novablast on a day I had to stand a lot at work and it felt awful. The static position felt like all the weight was on my heels or toes but not evenly spread. The glideride is a great walking through the airport shoe, standing around and running!
This has been the best shoe for my marathon training and general long runs over the past year. Bummed over the rumors asics is discontinuing it. So many of the other shoes asics has in their lineup seem redundant. There truly is nothing else like this.
150 for a shoe with that kind of construction and longevity is totally fine. I have a small issue with the heel as well, since it's so stiff, I have to really loosen the laces to get it on. Once it's locked in though, it's MONEY.
Favorite 2022 shoe. I've used it from casual to long runs lol. One thing I noticed is that I have to partner it with thin socks because it can get 🔥 I live in a tropical country tho.
You know I'm here for it. As an OG Glideride 1 enthusiast, I've also been loving the 3. It's faster than the Novablast 2 for me, and it just wakes up for anything past ten miles. I'm 225 pounds, and the GL can handle me.
I've had 2 pairs of OG Gliderides and I finally need to replace them as I can't find any in South Africa. Looking forward to getting these in the next couple of weeks. I'm also around that weight and I find the OG GL very stable once one is in the groove. I hope this version is the same. It just gives one confidence to keep going out and log those kilometers 🙂
Really sad Asics seems to have killed this off. Is the Superblast a suitable replacement, especially for race day for slower / age groupers and Ironman / half Ironman?
Interesting… I have the Glideride 2 and enjoyed them until about 120 miles. They started feeling less cushioned for runs over 7 miles. I recently got the Saucony Triumph 20 and enjoy them way more than the Glideride 2 because they are cushioned but feel much more responsive, making them more versatile. Interested to know if the Glideride 3 had more updates from the 2 to make it better.
Just passed 300 miles in my Glideride 3s. They are the BEST shoe for long slow runs on tired legs. The outsole is showing negligible wear and the foam still feels perfect. I predict these go 500-600 miles.
Yep, they’re fantastic. I’ve put a few hundred miles on mine and enjoy running in them every time. Original NB Beacon was criminally ignored too. One of my favourite running shoes ever.
I bought 3 pairs of the original beacons on a black Friday sale. Getting towards the end of life on my last pair this year, they've been such a goldilocks shoe for me. Bought them based on his recommendation, thank you for the reviews!
Such a great review! I have this Glideride 3 and novablast 3. Which one do you think is better for my first half marathon as a casual runner? I have wide feet and I do notice this shoe has a relatively tighter toebox compared with novablast 3. I'm wearing nb3 size 9 and have to size up to 9.5 for gr3.
Love the Glideride 3 for long runs, but I have one big complaint. ASICS why such blah colorways and why no new ones since forever? Could have easily tricked me into buying another pair with a cool colorway.
Yes, this tends to be overshadowed by Asics siblings. Novablast a young star in the family and old bro Nimbus that shines in his new job - daily trainer 🤣 Yet, I didn't quite get to like Novablast, and I have shifted from downtempo of Nimbus into the bounce'n'roll style of the Glideride. I'm still clocking miles in the 1st version ...awaiting some cool colors of the G³. What's great about it? - versatility. Slow/long runs? OK (Nimbus was better) but... I've found Glideride to work well on faster efforts: 1-4 lap repeats! Then without changing shoes I commute / jog home. Note - G¹ is firmer so I'm not sure G³ will be so good for track workouts. I'll find it out soon. 😎
Bought them about a month ago for ~60$ straight from Asics. And you say they are good choice for even 150$, wow. I agree these are really nice shoes. I like the shape which seems to be pushing me forward. Before I bought them, I used to run in Nimbus 24, so there's huge difference. Next week I'll get Nike Zoom Fly 5 (and no more shoes for me!), I'm curious what's it gonna be like.
I have the GlideRide 2 and words can’t describe how much I hate this shoe 😆😆 I’m going to have to put it down as my worst shoe purchase ever..super stiff with zero give
I’ve just done my 3rd run I keep getting a sensation under my right ball of foot towards the last 3 small toes ????want keep shoe but it’s putting me off
when I got the 3s they felt amazing, now with 300 miles on them on 10 km runs the cushion feels bottoming out. Compared to the novablast they are less resilient, something I didn't expect
Really wanted to get this shoe and was saving up for a while. Sadly, they went out of stock everywhere in my size. Ended up getting the Triumph 20’s for $80…no complaints so far.
Hahahahaaha yeah the blue stopped me from getting this and was looking for the black but never had that color over here .the GR 2 had a cream white version which was a looker .
I have a pair of Glideride 2s coming this week, because Kenny is poor, and I'm hoping for some great things. I love the run, I love to put in the miles, and I just want something that'll take me through them without a lot of fuss and such. People speak highly of these and I'm excited to try them out. If they're a big deal I won't hesitate to get the 3s.
Any problems with hotspots in these shoes at the start? I've had loads on my first two runs, particularly under the forefeet. I think it's the insoles. The texture on top is different to other insoles i have (can find/remember). I tried with one foot in the original insoles and one in some old puma ones on my last run. Clear difference. Great shoes otherwise. Perfect for my needs. Might have to return them because of the hot spots.
I watched a video about pro Kenyan female runners and I remember them (especially one of them) voicing how much she loves this shoe for all the long runs she puts in every week training. She had this giant look of relief when she held them up and mentioned them, like they really carry her beautifully through her training.
I love these shoes - I’ve been through my pair and actually gutted to be back in the More V3s to get the last out of them. Will have to try and find some on discount, maybe the Glideride 4 will be out soon?
400km and foam still good (had different experience with Brooks) for my 96kg. For months my most favourite shoes. Totally underrated and a pity if it’s really discontinued. I get comfort plus pace as well. And low drop is welcome as well. I just love them.
I bought this shoe after your first initial review. Had to return it within a week. Every time I wore them my toes went numb after 3km. I wish they fit my feet because they are very comfortable to wear.
Thanks for the video, I seem to suffer with plantar fasciitis would these be ideal do you think? I have tried the on cloudsurfer 7 they caused ankle issues & the cloud 5 have made my plantar so much worse obviously not enough padding!! Any advice would be appreciated 🙏
I’m not qualified to give that kind of recommendation. Perhaps if you could tell me what characteristics in a shoe your medical provider has suggested you look for, I might be able to tell you if this meets those criteria
thanks for including the gel nimbus. Really appreciate it! Got 500 on the v1 but only 200 on the v2 before it hurt my knees. Might pick up this shoe if it goes on discount. You rock!

Interesting, in Europe this shoe only costs 95 euro from the 150 euro normal. Definitely on sale here
Nice
Really sad Asics seems to have killed this off. Is the Superblast a suitable replacement, especially for race day for slower / age groupers and Ironman / half Ironman?
Unfortunately, there really isn’t a replacement for this shoe. I will direct you perhaps to the novablast 4?
Interesting… I have the Glideride 2 and enjoyed them until about 120 miles. They started feeling less cushioned for runs over 7 miles. I recently got the Saucony Triumph 20 and enjoy them way more than the Glideride 2 because they are cushioned but feel much more responsive, making them more versatile. Interested to know if the Glideride 3 had more updates from the 2 to make it better.
I didn’t run in v2, but v3 introduced FF Blast +, which is one of my favorite foams right now
Just passed 300 miles in my Glideride 3s. They are the BEST shoe for long slow runs on tired legs. The outsole is showing negligible wear and the foam still feels perfect. I predict these go 500-600 miles.
Finally retired at 531.5 miles. It was the cushion around the ankle that finally wore out. Rest of the shoe was still going strong.
Asics outlet has these for 60 euro right now and i just ordered one, thanks for the review Michael.
hope you enjoy!
Is it like max cushion version of Superblast?
That’s not how I would think of it
Aah. I'm torn between getting this or the NB3. My current NB2 will need to be replaced soon. I mainly run half-marathons. Stick with the NB?
My one and only complain about this shoe is the colorway. That’s it!
I'd love it in a cream on white
Love my glideride 1. Got it for $55
Oh I just buy a 2.0 yesterday. 😢
My podiatrist recommended the Glideride 2 and it is AMAZING! I purchased 3 more pairs. I wish they had a Glideride in trail shoes!
Yep, they’re fantastic. I’ve put a few hundred miles on mine and enjoy running in them every time.
Original NB Beacon was criminally ignored too. One of my favourite running shoes ever.
ah, memories
I bought 3 pairs of the original beacons on a black Friday sale. Getting towards the end of life on my last pair this year, they've been such a goldilocks shoe for me. Bought them based on his recommendation, thank you for the reviews!
Been looking into this shoe more as I was researching the Nimbus 25. Unavailable near me though, making it hard to try on feet before buying.
trust me, get the nimbus 25! i've tried it on and it is heavenly soft!
@@josiahmatson4457 Just added it to my cart!
It’s the Toyota Corolla of running shoes.
I want to disagree with you, but I guess I can't, really. maybe I'd suggest that it's more of a Camry?
@@kofuzi a hybrid Camry!
Fellow runners, which better in a very long distance run between Brooks hyperion max and Glideride 3?
Glideride 3 >>> Glideride 2. So much more comfort and support. Smooth and easy.
I ran 2022 NYC Marathon in these and I would do it again
Very cool
Love the Glideride 3 for long runs, but I have one big complaint. ASICS why such blah colorways and why no new ones since forever? Could have easily tricked me into buying another pair with a cool colorway.
Yes, this tends to be overshadowed by Asics siblings. Novablast a young star in the family and old bro Nimbus that shines in his new job - daily trainer 🤣
Yet, I didn't quite get to like Novablast, and I have shifted from downtempo of Nimbus into the bounce'n'roll style of the Glideride. I'm still clocking miles in the 1st version ...awaiting some cool colors of the G³.
What's great about it? - versatility. Slow/long runs? OK (Nimbus was better)
but...
Love mine also. It held my 10k PB for a minute too which is sorta bizarre 😂
Glideride3 in this color is 80 bucks on asics europe now. Invincible 1 or glideride, Ko?😊
I have the GlideRide 2 and words can’t describe how much I hate this shoe 😆😆 I’m going to have to put it down as my worst shoe purchase ever..super stiff with zero give
I’ve just done my 3rd run I keep getting a sensation under my right ball of foot towards the last 3 small toes ????want keep shoe but it’s putting me off
Couldn’t agree more! Except about the color, and the color you prefer. Haha
when I got the 3s they felt amazing, now with 300 miles on them on 10 km runs the cushion feels bottoming out. Compared to the novablast they are less resilient, something I didn't expect
one of my favorite shoes of 2022, most definitely!
Same here!
I probably have close to 650 miles in my Gliderides haha
I absolutely love this shoe! I picked up a pair at Ross for 19.99 and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made in a running shoe, amazing price aside.
Love these, I have logged 350+ miles on these. Smooth as butter
Nice
Yes, I reach for these more than the novablast, which at one point used to be my go to shoes
I hear some rumours that glideride will be discontinued?! Is the new evoride spees going to replace this line?
These are €80 in Europe, seems like absolute bargain
Awesome review kofuzi asics deserve some love I like the novablast v1 are u doing any nike reviews soon?
It's a great easy day shoe. So much better than the invincible 3.
Has the Glideride been discontinued now or will there be a Glideride 4?
All I know if that there will be new colorways of the glideride 3 this summer. After that, I don’t know
@@kofuzi Thank you. Love your reviews. The best by far!
I love these shoes - I’ve been through my pair and actually gutted to be back in the More V3s to get the last out of them.
Will have to try and find some on discount, maybe the Glideride 4 will be out soon?
Your music backdrops to B roll are always just straight Fireee.
400km and foam still good (had different experience with Brooks) for my 96kg. For months my most favourite shoes. Totally underrated and a pity if it’s really discontinued.
I get comfort plus pace as well. And low drop is welcome as well. I just love them.
Thanks for the update!
Very apt review , I have 200 miles on mine . Love these shoe being a heavy runner , helps with faster recovery and stability
Is there a trail shoe with a similar running feel? Maybe Asics Trabuco, or Hoka Mafate?!
I haven’t tried the latest Trabuco yet
I wanted to love the Glideride, I have the 2, but both my feet cramp when I use them
love my g3s, reliable and indestructible
Glideride 3 is my marathon shoe! Loving it.
i love the glideride 3 - the best info is that the glideride isn´t death. i look for the new colours...
I’d love to be able to pay $150 for a pair of trainers compared to the over inflated $200-$350 per pair in Australia.
I don’t know what the exchange rate is, but it still feels like a lot
You rock!
I hope it does get discounted so more people can try it
Great shoe but that central channel in the sole is a rock magnet.
