Everyone from every era poses the same question. Such is life.. As to this song, my question is why was / is it not more popular? It is well written , decent lyrics, good vocals and nice instrumentation. More importantly, the melody and chorus work.
Just saw them live yesterday, what talented musicians.....they still have the magic in 2023 as in 1985...thanks guys for a lovely concert, I was too young to see you in 1985!
Ahhhhh this takes me right back.... absolutely LOVED this song and the entire album - which I bought on cassette 😂 and literally played to death. Loved Go West and fancied the pants off Peter Cox, he was such a handsome man especially in his younger years and had such charisma ❤ I wish music today still made me feel the way that this did at the time 😔
This played suddenly on the radio while I was in my car. Now I have listened back to A LOT of 80;s tunes in my time but i had totally forgotten this - so it was like a new song to me. Let me tell you that my nervous system went into absolute meltdown when it came on. What a TUNE.
I'll keep looking up Rita, thank you for being such an amazing friend and sending me this song before you passed. We'll always be holding the aces girl x
Seen these boys a couple times in the last few years, they are touring again next year - already booked. Pete's voice - just solid. If they come your way - Go See, Go West ;-)
Beautiful production. Love how it chugs and fizzes and yet you get those lovely long guitar clangs!! How come we don't hear pop music sounding as expensive as this any more?
you hit the nail on the head: expensive. why spend money making lavish studio productions when you can do some cheap thing in a producer's bedroom and it will still hit number one...
I love this great song by Go West (as well as 'We Close Our Eyes', 'Call Me', 'King Of Wishful Thinking' and many other ones of theirs)... takes me right back to those great times in the 80's! I miss those times...
There’s 4 songs I love from Go West Don’t Look Down. Call Me. Faithful. We Close Our Eyes I could listen to all of them on constant loop & never get fed up hearing them
Peter Cox's trajectory reminds me a lot of Steven Seagal's. Both men had instant success at a very ripe age, out of nowhere. Although they both shared a relatively short peak success, they are both examples of people who were not young in their debut, however achieved worldwide superstar status overnight.
If you like this song I suggest listened to songs by The Quick. The two bands were friends with each other and The Quick's style of music heavily influenced Go West. The Quick's song "Young Men Drive Fast" influenced Don't Look Down in a big way. ua-cam.com/video/W23YxBx3cPA/v-deo.html
Who else wishes this era of music was still around?
Yeah, me. Even though I play and obsess over guitar, It was great having bass and keys back up front. Guitar is the icing on the cake.

What a truly well choreographed and upbeat video, along with a catchy tune to boot! Aren't the two backing vocalists just delectable and good movers!

why is music nowadays so lacking melody and fun theres no classic pop anymore like this tune great tune just fun
Because real bands are a thing of the past. Melodies are crap these days. Mean nothing.
