This song is all about the hollow pursuit of fame, and wealth. It's about how the common root of existence binds us all. Life is a waterfall. We're one in the river, and one again after the fall. All the moments in between are transient. The kid is the representation of innocence and being seduced/corrupted by power and expectations. And at the end has been worn out by that. He came back to where he came from (notice he was first "discovered" in that place). He was done at the end and realized that what mattered was not fame and those things that changed him, but what he liked about himself in the first place.
If you watch the kid closely, you will notice that he has the ability to make things fly through his own will. The kid is special - not from around here, has super powers and is probably alien. This makes him a celebrity, which explains why he has all kinds of celebrity treatment. By the end of the video, he feels tired - tired of being used, tired of people trying to associate themselves with him because he's special, tired of all the superficial acquaintances and so-called friends. The final scenes of the video show him reflecting on all that has happened before he decides to either end it and pass on, or just come to a stop and rest. When you match it up to the song, you will understand that the kid actually represents the Aerials.
Found this on another channel that is a great explanation of the music video: The kid is apart of a circus (high tops in the first few seconds) he is pretty much the 'freak' anyways he looks up at the aerials (acrobatic peeps) and imagines what it would be like to be on their level, fame no shame, the part where it goes "aerials in the sky, when you lose small mind, you free your life....aerials so up high when you free your eyes, eternal prize" overall the kid snaps back to reality and realizes that he just needs to be himself to be happy you can't always change who you are, or be someone your not
