About The Blacklist: For decades, ex-government agent Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader, TV’s “The Office,” “Boston Legal”) has been one of the FBI’s most wanted fugitives. Brokering shadowy deals for criminals across the globe, Red was known by many as “The concierge of Crime.” Now, he’s mysteriously surrendered to the FBI with an explosive offer: he will help catch the world’s most elusive criminals, under the condition that he speaks only to Elizabeth “Liz” Keen (Megan Boone, TV’s “Law & Order: Los Angeles”), an FBI profiler fresh out of Quantico. For Liz, it’s going to be one hell of a first day on the job.

The Blacklist | Red Confronts Martin About His Betrayal
/ sptv
How any of Reds employees ever get the idea betraying him is a good idea is beyond me.
Doesn't mean they won't try
i think it was more that guy wanted to do more but red was angry because he specifically told him no drugs if he had gone beyond his station but without breaking orders red would have been happy with the increase in cash flow
Arrogance. The belief one is immune from harm, or smarter than Red.
If Red doesn't know what you are doing, it only means he hasn't found out. And he finds out EVERYTHING. It's just a matter of the offender starting out in the lead and Red always catching up to them.
bcs its scripted
No honor among thieves.
Luv it!!
If the guy said kill him, Raymond would have spared his life.
This is one of the few times I thought Red was a bit too extreme. These guys clearly didn't turn him in to the police, they just continued to do business with who had money to pay them because Red was about to be killed. IMO, killing all of these guys because they filled a gap he left is a little too much. BUT, the man is a criminal, he has a shaky moral compass, so I guess that is fine for him and the people that knew they were in bed with a criminal
This is one of those times to remember that behind the charisma lies a man who has done horrific things and will continue to do horrific things. He's self-aware, which makes it all the more awful. On this occasion, 'morally', it's hard to argue with killing someone who dealt drugs and surely ruined many lives as a result. On the other hand, Red really is no better than the man he killed.
Red only killed people that deserved it. Martin dealt in drugs that kills mostly innocent people, under which, kids. Red draws a line there. So he killed him for that reason and that he gone and dealt behind his back using his network. How can he trust him in the future?
I'm sure that whatever Red's usual business is kills people as well. Probably sells guns and blood diamonds.
These are the people who definetly don't watch the show. Red is portrayed to be doing his crimes against horrible people to help make the world a better place. Everything he does is to serve the community and make it better. Everything he has done is in service of that. He is what he believes the system that protect people should be. Pay attention.
@@african9686 I agree! Red is doing what he knows the authorities can't and won't (corruption within their ranks and powerful people) and that's why he has a "Blacklist".
Would have been nice if red was her father instead.
Spoiler
Red is the mom
I love how ridiculously intimidating Red can get out of nowhere. Had my armpits sweating like crazy.
You should see a doctor for that
😂
That guy intimidates you? 😂
Jason statham sweating when Red show up. It's cool bro.
This show would have been best ever made in history without Liz and her SpongeBob husband.
why spongebob?^^
You are absolutely right
You are goddamn right.
Sponge Bob?
So true. They just dragged along and slowed everything down.
Smokey never met Walcott, but knew he had kids. That sealed Smokey's fate too.
How Spader portrays Red is amazing, how he can be so calm yet menacing
Generally speaking if a situation is going downhill and/or highly chaotic the calmest person in the room is the most dangerous OR the craziest
Same when he voiced Ulltron
Like Hannibal Lector. Without the cannibalism part.
His calmness is what makes him so menacing. You can sense that he could kill you without a second thought. And it wouldn't be out of anger or hatred or fear, just removing something in his way.
That's what sealed Smokey's fate. He heard how Red said he despised drug dealing.
This is simply the best series I have ever seen. May Spader live forever.
It is Indeed
Was a good show in the beginning, they took it too far as every other show after few seasons, but this garbage took it waaaaaay over the line with woke crap in the late seasons and this last bits we are getting in season 9 are just horrible
Excluding liz I would agree
I love Spader. He can play this bad guy that is freaking amazing but then he can turn around and play a character like Alan Shore, who was sarcastic and funny as hell. Honestly, he is way underrated.
Did you not watch season 8? He got cancer
I love how even Raymond sees drugs as a poison that should not be sold
Certainly not by _his_ network.
*proceed to get high with opium in a chinese speakeasies
Seems like there must be degrees to it all. He doesn't mind alcohol. And I remember him saying he was partial to a hash and opium combo.
They show over the course of the show there are things Red just won't deal in. Human Trafficking being another one.
Not drugs exactly, human trafficking and methamphetamines are his lines. Seems like the more addictive hardline opioids are what he refuses to run(despite his maybe more amicable usage of opioids himself)
Betrayal is never taken lightly.
Nor should it be.
This dude was the only person to keep lying to red over and over 🤦🏿♂️
smokey?
@@pascalanonym6495 Yes Smokey. The guy with the mustache that gets spared in this scene but later gets tossed out of a plane by Red.
Smokey
I just realized that James Todd Spader, played Daniel Jackson in the Stargate movie (1994)
1:53 The way he delivers that line is absolutely chilling.
I just noticed the guilt that flashed across smokey's face after martin died, he knows he screwed up
Not only that. He said he never met martin yet he knew that martin was a family man
You gotta love Reddington’s problem solving skills. So effective !
I hope the rest of the scene points out that if the other guy has never met Martin then how does he know Martin has a family
Yep 😏 it sure does!
This show enjoys some of the best writing on TV. Rest assured, that was NOT a lose end or a mistake.
Love this show and the brilliant performance from Mr. Spader ❤♠️❤
Martin got stirred & Smokey got shaken.
I cannot imagine any actor, and there are some brilliant ones out there, who could have portrayed Raymond Reddington better than James Spader. In fact, I can't think of anyone who would come close to his portrayal.
Red figured Smokey knew Martin before he even killed him
Red is that guy 🦾 he sees around corners he knows everything
My interpretation of what Red's saying: He tells that whole story about training to not mind committing unspeakable acts by not minding the pain of a flame. He then does it himself, flinches, and says "I mind." The listener (I agree with another comment that he's made this speech before, and that Dembe's familiar with it) is supposed to think Red minds doing the unspeakable acts. But they should know him well enough to know that isn't true. Red minds the _flame._ He can't hold his hand in it and not mind. The _listener_ is the flame, and it is _their_ unspeakable acts he minds.
Red to smoky: "How did you know martin had a kid"
Smoky: "wzziz waz wazzoz"
Red: "speak clearly so I understand you - throws him out of plane dew minutes later
When it comes to Red's business, DO .. NOT .. push your luck
I'm a criminal. Criminals are notorious liars.
-Raymond Reddington
I love this show!
More twists in an episode than a plate of spaghetti!
They made the Liz character so freaking irritating
They gave her a crippling case of Mulder Syndrome.
Smokey slipped up - he said he didn't know Martin, then he said Martin was a family guy who had a kid
Red knows trust
Andrew and sony that smokey talked about not martin.
No he didn't
Smokey have have tried empathy and just threw out there Martin was a family man as means to show two sides of a coin - when placed in the hot seat and you are holding a person’s life, would you try to save? Try to kill? Try to compromise?
It’s easy to kill without seeing the guy
But when you are there in the same room?
And your boss has proven time and time again, do not lie to Red.
Martin lied
If Martin had told the truth instead of hidden it - Red would’ve been forgiving and maybe just given the fine
But Martin lied then confronted Red saying not taking part wouldn’t be profitable - Red does not need money.
All he needs is his reputation - Martin soiled it then rubbed it in his face, insubordination which there was only one answer
Like Fredo claiming not to know Johnny Ola then letting it slip.
James Spader is a absolute Genius. This is one of his best character
The writers are pretty good, I agree. And Spader acts those lines very well.
"Value loyalty among all else..."
- just about everything Red does - comes back to this simple but powerful mantra.
Whether it's make-believe TV / Movie OR real life - THAT mantra is golden.
Loyalty is Everything.
It's the best quality to aspire to, and the worst thing to forsake, given the Ninth Circle.
Red is so goddamn cool. He has this literal grim reaper of death himself vibe to him in these scenes.
He wins everytime. Not a lot of characters like that these days
Great scene, Spader is simply brilliant
This actually is every Spader character in a nutshell. Professional, calm on the outside and an underlying pool of sadness that is permanently fed by the things other people would get outraged by.
Hmmmm.... imagine Alan Shore having Reddington for a client.
Yep, if there's one *TRUISM* in life, don't betray Red! - He ain't to be trifled with...And one other thing, don't ever entertain the folly of thinkin' you're smarter than him.
not to mention he didn't instruct no drug running to his managers, this was a paranoia purge designed to flush out whoever he wanted to believe ratted on him or was even capable of ratting on him to the police and put him in jail,
@@pethrosuriahson6156 but you heard Martin say "if you're not going to be in the drug business, someone will"
Dr. Daniel Jackson shot Lord Nikon. Damn.
Lev Gorin is such an underrated actor. We should see him in a leading role, not supporting cast
The best ever. I can watch it over and over
8f the other guy had any sense, he would have known the his part in the whole business Red did not approve of is not a secret to Red. The moment he started talking allowing Martin to go, he mark himself
If Liddy had that saying about "not minding", it figures. The little roach never really was that original. He stole it from the movie "Lawrence of Arabia".
The best series I've ever seen...James Spader is top draw...and his character Raymond reddington is mesmerising to watch and listen to 👍
the liz keen charactor is the terrible
I always liked Spader. The rest of the cast was cardboard and replaceable at will. I just watched for him.
James Spader is an underrated legendary actor, he is defiantly on par with Robert Downey jr. and Jude Law.
I think he’s playing himself. He is who he is and I like it.
@@myvibe3893 A one note actor? This would probably be the most insulting thing you could ever say to anyone who has worked in the field.
But yeah, why don't you write that to James?
@@Olebull93 Don’t be confused, I’m saying he’s a great actor, one of the best, who seems to get similar roles. Anyway I like it 👍
if im in a room with this man and he starts telling a story im just jumpping out the nearest window
My only qualm with Red is that there is no real punishment for the crimes committed against him. Sure people get shot, almost always, but what sort of punishment is that?
As the Count of Monte Cristo said, "A few moments of inconvenience is hardly justice for all the pain they caused. " (Paraphrase) All the trouble these people cause and their punishment is a few moments of pain? Seems a little off-balance for a man like Reddington.
Spader mesmerizes in every scene!
"If it was up to me - and lets all reflect on how awesome it is that it isn't..." is such a great line. Didn't we all have such a moment in our lives, thinking "thank the gods I don't have to decide here lol"
Spader is such a brilliant actor.
I recall those early days when, even though Reddington was a good guy, he was still intimidating and scary if you crossed him.
And that’s why Smokey got killed ran his mouth to much
If you dont send a message the birds will peck away until the crop is gone.
The floor it’s a fun show from blue pictures television.
man this is the caus of smoky death too. if he only shut up.
This was the role of a lifetime for James Spader which is saying a lot because he has done a ton of movies.
At least he's being a transparent employer.
Once Red starts telling a story, you know someone's dying.
James spader as ultron...wow
How one can be so menacing while blowing on his hand is beyond me
He never asked Red... All it takes to make the Blacklist....
All I hear is Ultron
The story about the flame is so poetic and how it tied in to offing Martin
Goddamn James Spader is ancient! I can still see him in the original Stargate 😆
He's the absolute best, that often intertwines with Ancient
If every dealer was killed on the spot it may make others less interested in the job. Sure some would still deal and take desperate measures but when they are killed on the spot it may eventually start getting better. It’s only getting worse by allowing it
As long as people want it and will pay for it there will be dealers. If you get caught dealing in China you die. They don't seem to run out of dealers to kill.
Not really… kill the drug users and no one will be buying! Their will always be someone desperate enough to sell!
Nope, it just makes the price go up and the people who are willing to get involved even more dangerous. Just legalize it all and start regulating it. That will tank the profits of the cartels and then we can put money towards drug addiction treatment. As long as there is a profit motive, the drugs will come.
@@stevenclark5173 That didn't work in the Netherlands... Drug crime is climbing steadliy
"I mind."
Stare..
james spader has got to be one of the most talented actors in the industry..
This is who he was before turning into Ultron!
"That . . . that I can't forgive . . ." words to live by. -C
Only PROBLEM with this B.S. SHOW,THEY ACT like The FBI SAVES THE INNOCENT AND JAILS THE CRIMINALS,WE THE PEOPLE KNOW BETTER,ITS JUST A B.S. SHOWA,,,,😂😂😂😂😂
This Red Remembered So That Convo He Had On The Plane About The Drugs Mr. Vegan Suddenly Had Beef 🤣
Love this guy
THE BLACKLIST sounds like Americans most wanted 😂😂😂
James Spader, underated.
I watched the first 2 seasons and stopped midway, for me was kind of boring but these clips or Reddington owning people make me wanna rethink and perhaps continue watching it=)
first episodes are kinda boring but once you start watching
there is no going back.
The episodes with Keen's husband had me questioning if I should continue watching. I managed to get through them. One thing I have noticed in this recent season (#8) is that terrible habit of putting annoying music and vocals over dialogue. These usually happened in the final 5 minutes of an episode. I had to mute my tv and ensure the cc was turned on. I haven't decided if I will watch season 9 when it comes to netflix.
Oh, one more thing (yeah, old-time Columbo fan): you will come up to the COVID episode where it's a mix of cartoons and real people. It would have been better for all if they just waited til it was good to work in real life.
@@bikeny I think the cartoon episode has his right to exist, it's smth different
I would love to love this show but I cant stand his daughter
Don't worry, she dies.
"The trick, William Potter, is not minding that it hurts."
Initially, I wasn't sure whether to put Red on the psychopath category or on the sociopath category...I'm kinda' rooting for the latter, since he has a conscience - sometimes...
"The trick is not minding that it hurts". From the film, "Lawrence of Arabia".
Too many people dead. Stopped watching it
Red was a criminal, but one with morals
Moral on Red stands like lipstick on a pig.
Red: Now Smokey, how did you know this man had a family? You said you never met?
Anyone else curious about what drink he made? Seems to consist of like 6 different alcohols and nothing else.
Putnum is looking nervous because he betrayed Raymond as well.
Li kayal3abe man raso 2 9srtasate da3o fihe khaso imchi l4ana lchimanjane tal fahame isaware 2 9artasate bache ihbate ljahime
That was one of the thousands of GEMS of the moments of the Blacklist
I agree with his decision to kill the man.
but if I was red, I'd make an example out of him, to make sure that nobody betrays red, without considering serious consequences.
but that's me, I'm not sure if such actions fit his character.
he shot him, how is that not making an example?
After season 5 was shot after. Redington was not in his character.
That's cold not giving the man that last amazing drink. 😂
3:53-isn't that from Lawrence of Arabia?
Yes it is: *_"The trick, William Potter, is not minding that it hurts."_*
Great show for sure but when its going to end
This is one of reds best ever scenes. It shows who he is. How he can be brutal but lives by a moral code, which is the reason for this very execution. Classic scene.
Robert California has seen better days.
doesn't he know it was Keen
Never betray Red, not a hard concept.
I mind.
Remember those words
Can someone explain why this was uploaded on the Sony channel? thanks
I believe Sony produces the show
No. I am not informer. Now lets beguin.
why it's all dark?
Actually Tom Keen played his role well, Liz was the problem,i never liked her character from the beginning .
Spader is so good.
When season 9 coming
Red, in that moment, reminds me of my dad(RIP). He used to say, "If I don't have a problem...well...then I don't have a problem."
