James Spada is a wonder. A wonder why this esteemed actor is not more recognized as one of the greats. Every role I have seen him in is pure gold. Some of those, haunt me. I'm not partial to ever speaking accolades on someone or something too easily. I am in awe of his talent.

The complete incompetence of the public defender was disgusting, also there was open and obvious racism, was just staggering. Besides old tv shows like Mash and such, this is probably one of the best written and interesting shows on tv. out of 100s of shows only a dozen or so keep my attention and interest. From the casting, to the story line, this show is very well put together.
I hated Liz for doing this, I mean did she really think this would help her and Raymond would still survive? I mean she was upset with Cooper helping Red. Then she was all tears and I'm sorry like always even though she almost had him killed

Season 6, it is discovered that our reddington is not the real reddington who actually died 30 years prior. Then Liz goes on a hunt to find out our red really is. By this point Liz finds out the real reddington was here father. Then in season 7, Liz gets a lead on the secret identity but then reddington kills all the leads. Also, now a women claiming to be liz’s mom enters the picture and Liz of course buys into it. They form an alliance against reddington. At the same time, red wants to kill liz’s mom because she could expose secrets to Liz. So then fast forward to season 8, red finally hunts down liz’s mom and shoots her point blank in the chest while staring at Liz. At this point Liz is infuriated and forms an alliance with a guy named Townsend who’s family was killed by kgb. Somehow, Liz thinks red is tied to it. She tries to have him killed in multiple ways for like 15 episodes. Then Liz finds out the women pretending to her mom was only another kgb agent who lied. She forgives red, feels horrible about trying to kill him again. Red takes her to some bucket in France where the “blacklist” lives. Apparently, it is an organization that feeds red the info he has. Liz learns almost all the secrets she ever wanted except the identity of reddington and where her mom is. The Townsend tries to kill them only for him to incinerated. To end the season, red asks Liz to kill him because he fulfilled his purpose in life. He gives dembay an envelope which has the remaining secrets Liz wants. Liz is about to kill him then hesitates. This results in INE of townsends guys shooting a bullet through Liz’s heart killing her. Red is devastated and shoots townsends guy multiple times in the face point blank and that’s how the season ends. Season 9 starts two years later where red and dembay have parted ways, red is bow with some Indian chick 30 years younger than him, Restler became an addict, Harold apparently killed someone but doesn’t remember it (still ongoing), Restler also grew a beard (now gone), Agent park, a character introduced in season 7 got married, Aram left millions in a tech company to rejoin the task force. Boston Legal was my absolute favorite show! James Spader is incredible. The Blacklick is very good, too. I just love in this courtroom we got a little bit of Alan Shore! Love his sense of humor.
And then!....William Shatner walks in, to which Reddington says "I've gotten myself a new lawyer", and Shatner eyes the room, saunters up to the judge, and...wait for it...."Denny Crane."
As many have already stated, James Spader did play Alan Shore on Boston Legal (also for one season on The Practice). Did you know that Harry Lennix, the IRL name of the actor who plays Harold Cooper, was also in The Practice? I believe he was only on two episodes, but a nice little trivia. While not featured in the scene, the actress who played Mr. Kaplan (not sure of the actresses name) was a judge on The Practice.
At the end he should have said…..”I feel it more prudent to represent myself…..I have a wealth of knowledge in regards to one’s defense inside of the legal system”. (Cue the BOSTON LEAGAL SONG)

It would have been wonderful if they could have gotten Shatner to show up for this, even for a cameo or something, but I heard him and Spader don't get along anymore. Asked Bill at a con around four years ago on if he still talks to him and he said no. Seemed like there was some personality issues on Spader's side that he didn't like, that was the impression I got from his words.

It would have been wonderful if they could have gotten Shatner to show up for this, even for a cameo or something, but I heard him and Spader don't get along anymore. Asked Bill at a con around four years ago on if he still talks to him and he said no. Seemed like there was some personality issues on Spader's side that he didn't like, that was the impression I got from his words.
They are both busy men they do keep in touch though.
Kinda sad, always thought they were friend-goals on Boston Legal but hey guess Real Life is always a tad bit more complicated
