this is the only dude that explains things in a way I actually understand and it stays in my brain. I love this man.
Feel the same😁💪🏼
Yeah idk how but he should start a online class for beginners
Agreed
@@Isaypreach you are not alone.. lol
Hands down best guy for anything photography
Dear Peter,
I'm not sure what you're doing differently to crank out so much quality content within a week, but whatever it is, I'm loving it.
Love,
All of us
How does he do it
Step 1: Batch shoot content in 1-2 days
Step 2: Hire an editor
Step 3: ?????????
Step 4: Profit.
Boy outsourcing to South Korea works wonders. 😌
Cocaine he’s on cocaine now
Cocaine
Peter is inargueably the most generous and genuine person on this youtube platform who really wants this form of art to be easier for the newer generations to venture in. I mean he is seriously giving away a masterclass on photography for which so many of others would have charged some $9.99 dollars monthly or whatever. I love this dude.
Finallyyy someone i can understand
You gotta do at least 3 more so you can end with “Camera BaSIX”
Oh my... that’s so good. I hope he does. I got an M 50 like 3 months ago after yrs of cell phone pics/vids, so much better, but overwhelming. He’s a great camera buddy!
Nicee
that was niiiiice
Damn Tho. That was good
And then another 3 more for "Camera BasIX"
I literally don't know why, but I love this series even though I already know the info., it's nice to hear Pete explain things in the way he does :)
I agree, it helped me though to confirm my next camera purchase to be a mirrorless cam.with a full frame.
True. It's good to go back to the basics every once in a while.
True story
Amen to that!
I just need the daily dose of Pete
@@MCM686 It helped me get over my angst of spending to much on the same XDXDXD
This channel has helped inspire me to pick up a camera again after 20 years! Did it inexpensively with a little EOS-M using large aperture TV lenses plus vintage stuff I had from years ago! At 52 years of age I'm back feeling the magic through the viewfinder (as I used to say)! Just finished my 1st. short film and couldn't be more pleased! Keep up the great work and enthusiasm!
Rock on! I'll bet some of that vintage stuff from years ago makes some pretty cool and unique looking results!
Lee Surber inspiring!
Inspiring.
I watch ALOT on youtube as I continue to try to teach myself photography. And you are the ONLY UA-camr who:
A. Actually explains things in a way that is specific and scientific AND understandable
B. Teaches me SO MUCH about EVERYTHING
C. Continues to light my fire and inspire me to not give up and you continue to show me the amazing world of photography
Without your channel I would have given up on my dreams and I mean that. From a fellow Canadian,
Thanks Eh!
Peter,
I don't know if you know how much you've helped millions of people around the world with photography! But we thank you in unison.

Same!! I met Peter back around 2013 when he visited a local magic store in Toronto. I thought he would be making photography content back then!
Here's a recommendation: Hey Pete! Loving your camera basic series. Do you mind making a video talking AUDIO please! Just got a rode videomic, would like to learn how to get the most out of it. THANKS
(AUDIO SETTINGS)
Kevin Yu second this, cause for some reason i can’t get my audio good with the rode videomicro no matter how much i mix the sound
Daniel Shiffer has some good audio videos!
i need to know how to get rid of wind noise ,with a dead cat on
Watch Alex Knickerbocker, he's a pro audio guy that gives really good toturials on how to get better audio and how to position mic's. I learned a whole lot from him.

Peter: let's talk about the advantages of Full-Frame
starts by giving a dis-advantage 😂😂😂

Love the fact you still teaching beginners! U rock dude👍. This is great!
Man I just recently got into photography and I've already learned so much from you and other youtubers as well. I literally got my camera like a week ago and I can honestly say I feel so confident already with my shooting to a certain extent and I've got some nice shots to show for it so far. Thanks a million Peter!
So far the best video (series) explaining camera basics PM! Was planning on doing something similar to this but seeing you nailed it all now I’m more than inspired and got an idea how to do mine. Thanks for the great explanation again PM!

Thank you
WOW, what a big step in quality of videos (that were already outstanding 2015), but the clarity, structure and FIRE of Peter, since he moved to the new studio is really inspiring!! You can feel the pure joy and passion. BIG THANKS
Thanks for sharing this Peter. I have watched so many videos and read so many articles about these basic things but I have never understand it until now. You are the best.
Me and my pal were just talking about the last two camera basics yesterday, I flipped when i saw camera basic 3 was uploaded 5 minutes ago! XD
Cool video, Thanks Peter !!! 😎😊🤘

I bought my first mirrorless camera (which is also my first full frame) a few weeks ago but was having major - “have I made the right decision” moments. Even after I did tons of research. Thank you for validating my decision! I really look to your videos for inspiration and help with learning new camera skills. Thank you for doing what you do!
The way you had breaked down this 3 things was so good , like everybody can understand them , short and clear. You are crushing it Peter , keep making uniqe content !
Thanks Pete, all my questions about which camera to purchase have been answered in 1 vid.
I switched from the canon 80D to a Sony a7iii and I’ve had such a great experience with it. I’m still learning how to use this beast to it’s full potential. Your videos have been very helpful, thank you I really appreciate it.
Kudos to your channel and Thank you for the series. This last one I might have to watch more than once. The great thing about this whole UA-cam thing you may have spread them out over a year or two but I got to watch all three videos back to back to back On my way to and from work. You’ve certainly earned the new studio. Keep killing it.
So cool seeing your office coming into life!
The only UA-cam notification that means..
DROP EVERYTHING!!!!
ITS PM TIME!!!!

i'm waiting for the day peter announces he's working on a feature film. imagine his vision paired with a really good writer
I've worked as a videographer for years and already knew all this, but somehow Peter still makes me click (really freakin fast) and then watch the whole thing like it's the first time I here about this.
That if anything, is magic in my world. Thank you Peter for being such an inspiration!
I recently started taking photos and it as if my being was waiting for me to stumble into because the passion i feel is like none other.
I picked up a Sony a7iii and have been shooting street in Seattle multiple times a week.
Just wanted to extend my thanks to you due to the positve Energy and Passion you have for the art.
8mins: Some full-frame cameras have the option to go to APS-C mode which allows to get you that extra zoom/crop. A7S II has this and its bad ass when you set it to a custom button
Bonus tip: make sure your camera has the option set to take both RAW and JPEG for each shot. Takes up more space but if you quickly need a picture to share can take the JPEG and work with it
I absolutely loved this one. 1st. Camera basics videos gets you back to start point if you're facing problems, even after a long time of practicing photography ... and...AND ... finding a solution for them. 2nd. Now i know that this video, should be followed by a tutorial video (you absolutely made the photography world a better place to live in, with those videos back in the days) about editing RAW in Lr or Ps.
Really digging the tutorial streak and less of the things to buy :D
Was actually looking camera basic 2 when the ring bells. Ahaha wtffff! 🔥🔥🔥
Peter outstanding series on camera basics have watched them twice to get the full effect of all the information you put out. Seeing that I'm just getting started in this profession. I have watched most of your vids and have gotten a lot out of them.
Thanks and hope to see more.
Your first Camera Basics video was the first video of yours I watched. Just came up on a search when I first started my channel. Been a big fan ever since. Thanks for the all of the info over the years!
That “Pete’s Pirate Life” subtle logo in the transitions. Diggin it 👌🏼
It’s that kind of attention to detail that makes Peter the master. I’m learning so much from you man!
'Or risk his life and move closer to the bear' a photography themed joke that explains his point so well, amazing
Pete’s style is KISS - Keep It Simple, Stupid and I love that, finally understood all of that you’ve been talking about 👌🏽
Yesss! These are my favorite videos. Very helpful. Please make more. Can’t wait for the fourth installment.
I was in the middle of watching a video when the notification popped up and clicked fast af, also I’ll be here in every video until Pete says hi

I would take that class!!!!!
Was literally just thinking about your other two camera basics video and thinking that you said you were gonna continue the camera basics series. lol
Also, it's weird to see Peter's vid not having processed 4k yet.
Hi Peter
Thanks so much , I learnt a lot about DLSR v Mirrorless cameras, I now know what to go and buy in April
Thanx for coming back to us beginners really coming back to your base
6:50 I love his explanation. I want to say “Risk of being closer to a bear (for FF) VS being away from bear but risk of falling off a cliff (for APC)”
For nerds, a comment here. At the same distance from the bear 🐻, APC and Full Frame(FF) are seeing with same focal distance. You can think like FF gets extra scene around what APC is seeing. When APC is getting the bear’s face, FF is getting bear’s body as well. That’s why FF user needs to come closer to bear if they want to get a “same face shot of the bear”as APC takes, which has the ONLY face without body. In an opposite way, if APC user wants to get body shot of the bear🐻as FF takes, they need to walk back from the bear. They need to have a risk to fall off a cliff. 🏔🚧
However, someone can think “Then, I can crop FF image to get the same face shot of APC.” Yes, you can because Usually FF has more pixels (6000x4000)than APC (4800x3200). Here, we need to compare the resolution, the number of pixels. FF has more pixels, however, the cropped image, as same size as APC image, is losing the resolution. 6000/1.5 = 4000 (I just used 1.5 to make it easy). The bear’s face is being more pixelized. But FF sensor has a bigger pixel area, the area of photodiode. The photodiode is like a bucket getting lighting droplets. Since FF has a bigger bucket to get light, each pixel and image will have less noise. Cropped FF image will be more pixelized though less noisy.
Wow
Edit: just wanted to be early
This content just keeps coming out! We are not mad! Thanks for being an inspiration Pete, helping people like me chase dreams of being a filmmaker!
I really appreciate your time and effort to convey these concepts in a way that's easy to understand. Thanks!
I TRIED A CHEMEX AND IT'S AMAZING!!
conclusion: RAW + FULL FRAME + MIRRORLESS
Panasonic's 4k60p10 bit 4:2:2 internal 500mbps : am i a joke to you
No really there are lots of advantages with micro four thirds mainly size and features also in a lot of cases in low light they are just as good if not better cause of the 'low' megapixel count of the sensors 16-20 compared to 24 on apsc and 30-40 on full frame
Hey Pete, it is very helpful when you include visuals when you are trying to explain something. Great content!
These videos are great man! I've been in and out of getting into shooting, and coming back to these have helped me understand a lot more what I'm doing and what to look for in a camera
7:04 my name is Joe and I have a crop sensor camera. Coincidence? I THINK NOT!

@@joewillsart Do you think it's a coincidence?

Pro tip: Sony A7riii has a crop sensor punch in option. So you get that “zoom in” ability!
Andre Rivero broo
Don't you loose image quality with that option ?
@@XXXdu94 doesn't it have like 60 megapixel sensor?
It has 42 megapixels and no you don’t loose resolution when it punches in.
The r4 has 61 megapixels and I’m sure it has the same crop sensor function. I don’t own that camera.
