Beautiful, no annoying music in the background, just the tool and ambient sounds, I also love that you upgraded the lock on it so it's still viable as an actual safe and not just a display piece!
As a retired locksmith and safe technician I found this extremely fascinating and enjoyable to watch. And thank you so much for letting the music of the tools and machines be the only soundtrack, no cheesy stock music is needed.
Hi I'm picking one like that up in a few weeks. Is it easy to take the door off for transportation.its about 100 years old hinges are similar to this one ! Thanks
@@richardshackleton5681 Depending on the condition of the safe, dust rust etc., the door should lift up and off the hinges. I've had to use a pry bar or jack to get it started, but it should come off. It will be bulky, awkward and heavy so bring help. This will lighten up the body of the safe making it easier to move. Good luck 👍
it is because he basically rebuild the safe, its a good construction job but not a restoration by any means, its more like building a new safe inspired by 1930 design
Not only was this man's craftsmanship simply incredible - I'd say he not only restored the original safe but improved its original manufacturing significantly!
I think the people that made this safe would be blown away to see this restoration -a utilitarian work of art. It will make any room in which it sits a very royal room, indeed.
No music, no talking, pure bliss. I have trouble picking the right spanner for an oil change and he's out there creating an entirely new lock for a 100 year old safe like it was nothing.

This is one of the best restorations I've seen in a long time. The detailed construction of the wheel housings, the reconstruction of the lock mechanism and the finish were very satisfying. Best on UA-cam!
As a retired locksmith and safe technician the restoration was beautiful, you are a man of many talents, but an awful lot of work to restore a Sentry safe.
Brass feet and casters would have really set that thing off! Too bad it can't hold the weight. First Class restoration Sir! Can't believe anyone would give that a thumbs down. Great job!
Am thinking of buying a safe like you demonstrated. Paint/clean the brass was my objective, now I think I have a template on how to approach the work. Thank you so much.
This has everything you would want from a restoration video, single point thread cutting, sandblasting, cold bluing, hand filing, a child's hand to apply Bondo with a obscenely small spatula. All the other restoration channels need to up their game.
I said to myself: “if he takes all of that mechanism apart and manages to get it all back together and working I’ll be impressed”. Color me impressed 💯
Великолепная работа👍👍 Только довольно странное решение сделать сейфу колёса, по-видимому чтобы грабителям было легче и быстрее его увезти чем вскрыть. Great job👍👍 Only a rather strange decision to make wheels for the safe, apparently to make it easier and faster for the robbers to take it away than to open it.
I have a safe like this in my basement, was here when I bought the house…..however it’s 5 feet tall, and weighs over 1000 pounds. I’m hoping to restore it some day, I think this video will help. Thanks 👍
Its not that hard to do paint wise this guy here is a pro and its not that big a safe. This is how the big ones are redone .. . Spray on automotive paint stripper aka " aircraft remover "and a stainless dish scrubber will make quick work of the old paint. Now repaint it completely outside w black traditionally. I prefer black engine crinkle paint myself .. but whatever you want. . And then paint an acrylic scene landscape usually on the front of the safe and gold line around it. You can use automotive edge strip if youd prefer ... Then clear varnish the entire safe an extra coat on the front.
Greetings from Ireland! That is a stunning restoration my friend! The crimson red colour went very well with the super shiny brass! You have a lot of confidence in restoring it!
That turned out so beautifully!! All that beautiful brass, and the red exterior with white interior, and the wheels!! And I'm glad you made it so it could be used as a safe again!

Just when I think it is impossible to restore, you got it all under control. Just beautiful work well done. I love to watch you work. Have a nice day! God bless you ❤
Seen a lot of restoration videos and this has to be the most captivating from beginning to end. To see your work progress and vast array of equipment used, especially all of the machining, is very cool my friend.
I bought a nice (it was pictured as complete) at government auction a safe made of half inch plate designed for a two drawer file cabinet. When I drove over two hours to get it I saw that all the internals had been removed. No S&G lock, no locking bolts or arms and no handle etc. I had to make all the parts without the aid of having another to compare to. I got a new S&G lock on eBay and then began. Large bearing rollers worked well for the locking bolts being hardened steel. Figuring out the wheel to retract the horizontal bolt was about the most difficult part.
Unreal. Nothing I can say has not already been said a thousand times. That said, it would be interesting to see a birds-eye time-lapsed view of the sheer amount of time and labor and motion that goes into one of these projects. Fantastic work, in any case.
