The thing with him is he seems to feel like using social media to promote himself might be the "fake" way to do it. Like if he doesn't get world renowned the same way the people who came before him that he respects did then it's not real. My thoughts are that they used the means available to them at the time for promotion. Newspapers and posters and however else, but were he alive today Paganini would absolutely be on Tiktok haha. I don't think Mozart would be opposed to doing an interview with millions of eyes because the show happens to be on the internet and include comedy. I'd just like to hear him talk about what he does haha. I get it though I don't mess with social media either but this level of skill in anything needs to be seen.

I would argue Kim is the best violinist in terms of technical skill that we have evidence of playing. Of all time. Above any other maestro. Sadly we dont have footage of Paganini, but I suspect Kim would've played the socks off of Paganini. In any sport, hobby, game, or competition the level of expertise increases over time as information about it grows.
Never before in history could you see full definition video of how the very best do anything. Whether its piano, bowling, violin, sprinting, wrestling or anything. You can watch and analyze how the best do it. Imagine 200 years ago, there was none of that.

Always nice to see how you still, unintetionally, play him down.
Saying 99% cant play this still leaves room for 1% to be able to do it.
This would correspond still to 80 million people in the world.
While I would think there are at most about 100 people who could train to play it like this, which means about 99.99999875% cant play this (Using a population of 8 billion).
You were not wrong, but 99% is way to low of a threshold that comes close to the truth.

Imagine how much more enjoyable violin would be for beginners (and their audience) if violins did have frets. The violin would much more popular and mainstream. Personally I would love that, because the violin is such a beautiful and versatile instrument.. But those who made the gauntlet generally want to keep their club exclusive.
As for the impressiveness of Roman.. He is the most technically complete violinist alive (an probably ever). How much more impressed do you need to be? Playing with a double base bow would be "more impressive", but what's the point?

    • @evildreavil9889
      @evildreavil9889 Рік тому

@@Jammawtf i dont think its the case of keeping it exclusive cuz the fretless fingerboard is actually used as an advantage where you are not limited by curtain notes and most violin peaces take advantage of the fretless fingerboard to use techniques like slides for example to make the sound more colorful and more unique to the violin ... not to menschen the other genre of music where having a fretless instrument is actually a necessity to even be able to play it . also as a beginner sure u can start with fretled instrument but itll damage your progress when u actually decide to go intermediate and advanced

By the standards of elite violinists Kerson Leong does not have an exceptional technique.
In particular, he does not have an exceptional tone.

Dude its those glasses. Splits a violin into 4, ergo a quartet. Sometimes it splits into an orchestra.😱

I wonder if he had his bridge trimmed down to make it less rounded to make this possible.

I just noticed that he still has frets scooped into his fingerboard. A Little bit of a hack if you're going to do that.
Forget the frets.... I just can't get past those glasses that "allow him to slow down time and see his fingers quicker than he needs to".
That bugs me. Always will. It's just another show-off-y thing those glasses.
N.B. Notice how he doesn't need them at 6:25 ....
