    He performed his own violin concerto (which is basically a very long cadenza) with an orchestra I was a member of a few years ago. UNPAID because of visa issues just to get exposure because he’s basically unknown. He’s developed a ton of his own techniques to play like this and even modified his violin and bow a bit. • @skawn
      @skawn 7 місяців тому

      Songs are comprised of many notes. Those notes are made to be played one at a time. If you have multiple notes, they're usually split up for multiple players to play. The song this guy played was split up for four different players to play at the same time. Instead, this guy played it all, at the same time, by himself.
      And then there is everything his left hand did. Usually, that hand just pushes down on the string to get the different notes. In order to play the multiple parts, this guy was plucking the string with his left hand while also playing different notes with the bow.
      I imagine a decent analogy is a busy restaurant where you have the hostess at the front, the waiter taking orders inside, and the chef in the back doing the cooking. With smaller food operations like food trucks, this is possible with just a single person. In a busy sit-down restaurant, you'll need multiple people to fill all the roles. Imagine how hard it will be to fill all the roles with just a single person. You'll need special equipment like maybe a wearable stove to cook while seating customers, with a pad of paper to also take orders. Instead of working each task like they're normally done, you'll need to change up each task so you can do them all simultaneously. That's pretty much what this guy just accomplished.

In those videos he does crazy things like Devil's Trill + double stopped artificial harmonics + left hand pizz at the same time, special harmonics that sound like a flute, tenths with his ring finger and pinkie, more biting the strings :) Apparently he's working on Beethoven's 5th for Solo Violin next.

    • @seraphimdunn
      @seraphimdunn 2 роки тому +1

      @@mystfende7035 it is where the strings are tuned differently than normal to achieve a certain sound, usually involving chords. It can be done with any string instrument, but is far easier to adapt to on a guitar or bass than a violin. Guitarists use this technique quite often and is one (of many) reasons why it is common for a pro guitar player to have multiple guitars in use during a concert. One of the most common examples would be "Drop D" to drop the low E string to a D, which allows a guitar player to hold a "power chord" with one finger, where it would normally take 2-3 (depending on the player's individual approach). The difficulty comes in from violinists being used to strings having a certain tension and working everything else around that, from bow contact to exactly where to place their fingers to achieve proper notes. It is difficult enough to develop multiple sets of muscle memory with frets. Overcoming that on a violin takes an absurd amount of skill. Absurd.

    • @LogioTek
      @LogioTek 2 роки тому +14

      Well I dug deeper into Roman the past week and my conclusion is that he is an absolute genius of the highest order. Not only he can keep track of up to 4 things at once (there are even videos of him singing, playing cymbals, and playing double stops on violin- all at the same time, not only 4 voices like in Mozart piece) but his own compositions are masterpieces, especially 'Dies Irae' theme where he beautifully marries Bach and Paganini together and his Concerto. But he also invented (!) a new powerful and versatile harmonics technique that makes violin sound like a wind/flute and allows you to play faster than normal because it requires less pressure on strings at the expense of shifting some extra burden to bowing. It's crazy that it took an absolute genius like Roman to uncover this on an instrument that's hundreds of years old and has had many great masters in its rich history - if not his music and playing this feat is a testament on its own. Anyway I don't know what these harmonics technique will be called in the future 'forced' or 'Kim' harmonics but there is a demo and a lesson by someone who bought and studied Roman's sheet music which came with a brief explanation about the technique in preface:
      1. demo m.ua-cam.com/video/tAJaz4v1jZQ/v-deo.html

    We found what the TwoSet anime will be about:
    Two young men, Brett and Eddy, are trying to become the best violinists they can. But other characters both younger and older come along to to defeat them easily. (such as Roman, Hillary, and other young prodigies) Each time they get defeated, though, they learn a new skill from that person who had defeated them, so they eventually become better as the series progresses. Even though they were defeated by basically everyone they don't have any beef/conflict with anyone afterwards.... except that one Violist in 1st grade. The violist is the one and only antagonist. They keep on demanding a rematch, but he never will give it to them.
    And filler episodes could include boba dates, attempts to practice 40 hours straight, and obviously there has to be a beach episode.

He has other videos too where he plays "al dente" and I think he invented a new technique for artificial harmonics that he uses in some of his original pieces. His Betthoven's and Paganini's arrangements are out of this world. He is able to articulate bass, rhythm, and lead parts on one guitar. I think they come from the same alien planet.

    Brett & Eddy, my husband has incurable lymphoma, and has a wish only you can fulfill. He simply wants to see you react to the Michael Nyman Band playing "Knowing the Ropes" or "Eye for Optical Theory" or both. For good or for bad, he wants to know what professional violinists think, and his time to find out is limited. Your videos have brought him much joy during his illness. It's wonderful to have a funny musical break in the day. Thank you for that!

    Attempt no. 9 at trying to get twoset to do this for a video.
    Eddy has to listen to ten violinists play behind a screen. One of them will be Brett. He has to figure out which one. Once he has made his final guess they swap places. They can do it in rounds like the blind date videos.
    Please like and comment if you want to see a video like this.
