Good morning and welcome to my channel! This morning I wanted to try a different type of yoga stretch by doing a yin yoga class. Yin yoga is a style where poses are held for a minimum of 90 seconds in order to target the connective tissues for mobility and flexibility. This is a wonderful practice to do in the morning and no props are required. This is suitable for beginners and all levels.
Each pose will be held for about 2 minutes to open up your hips, hamstrings, back and shoulders. Cleo joins me for this morning's class as well :) Enjoy and please let me know if you would like more short morning yin yoga classes.

There are 3 principles of Yin Yoga.
1. Find your edge
2. Be still
3. Hold the pose
Find your edge means respecting your body's limits and not pushing too far and risking injury. Pull back a little bit and as you hold the pose you will be able to go deeper into it without pushing too far or hurting yourself.
Being still means that once you are in the pose it is important to completely relax your muscles so the benefits can get into the connective tissues and joints. Try not to fidget or move or distract yourself, this is a meditative practice. Breathe deeply in and out through the nose.
Holding the pose means that in Yin Yoga a pose can be held for 1-10 minutes depending on the pose performed and on the comfort level of the student. I usually teach poses held for around 4-5 minutes. Learn to surrender and keep a timer close by if needed.

I loved this short morning yin practice Kassandra. I started doing yoga through your channel at the beginning of the pandemic in March with the 30 day challenge and fell in love with the practice as a whole, and with the way you teach and guide! Thank you so much for putting the time and effort, and definitely add more of these short morning yin practices if you can! Oh, and btw, my word for the day is: serenity. My plan for today is finishing a couple of errands, and then heading out to the beach for a little bit of sunshine, nature and salt water; nothing but pure serenity for the body and soul. Namaste.

Word of the day is "relax". Today I will be fasting in many forms: from food, technology, and anything that will bring me out of a relaxed mood. I want to feel renewed tomorrow, and continue my softball practices with a new mindset. But first things first, today will be relaxing from a long weekend.🌹🤗

I can't always conjure 'peace', 'gratitude', 'calm', but I can 'move', 'dance', 'stretch', 'jump' when I think of it. (These words also have spiritual and emotional implications too). I suffer from very vivid dreams and last night I was confronted by the guy who raped me in college as well as being confronted by my mother and stepfather who abused me as well. I find morning yoga works best for me but I start work really early in the morning and already have to get up so early I only have 10-15 minutes in the morning.
