@@justinhuddleston4625 I’m not sure what your point is that “he’s in a base”? If by base you mean the 2.3T engine, that’s the point. The Explorer 2.3T has more HP and significantly more torque than the VQ. 300 HP and 310 TQ vs the Nissans 284 HP and 259 TQ. They both are very similar in weight, with the lowest trim Explorer weighing in roughly 100lbs lighter than the Pathfinder. On paper the Explorer should beat the Pathfinder with a notable advantage in performance. However, as you can see, the weaker, heavier Pathfinder excels. In reality engine enthusiasts know that Nissan underrated the VQ which is why we see such a strong performer.
New pathfinder is my favorite, way better, slick and still rough SUV design. So sad the Fuel is now so expensive, i love the pathfinder 2022, but because of expensie fuel, ill go for a phev or full electric.
I like the explorer is better in terms of exterior design I think Nissan is trying to hard. Simple is sometimes better. I dont think that policies driving it should take away from it.
Pathfinder!!!! Wooo. Both SUV's were on my shortlist. The Explorer ST had my heart the but the Pathfinder appealed to my brain and my budget. Happy with the choice! *edit* after watching - I maintain the 3.5 VQ with only 284 HP output is underpowered for the size of the vehicle.
The VQ is tuned to 284 HP in this model. The same VQ has 300 HP in the Maxima. Nissan detuned the VQ quite drastically for their suvs. There’s several VQ folks in blogs that I follow that have tuned it to over 500 HP on stock intervals. The VQ is widely known as being underrated.
Side note aswell...i dont understand how you feel the 2.3 doesnt feel strong enough for that suv considering its about a second faster 0 to 60...feels faster across the entire rev range...and makes quite a bit more hp and torque then the pathfinder

Considering the 400 hp Explorer was out run in sport mode and from a roll. That pathfinder may just need a pro tune and some bolt on to beat the SC
I watched another viedo,on the pathfinder off road edition. Same motor as all of them, they said premium gas adds 11 hp. The testing guys could not see any reason it would not do the same on all of them. Next tank I'm going to try it,if i had a full tank of regular i would use octane booster.
I was just coming here to respond to your claims that the 4 cyl doesn’t belong in the explorer and was not fast enough. That twin turbo 4 post 0-60 speeds in the 6 plus second range and is very fast. The Pathfinder is a very attractive vehicle but I think it is a little unfair that he used a XLT vs Platinum, the Limited is explorer would have been a more fair comparison
My exact thoughts
I think an interesting race would be the Acura type s mdx vs Audi sq5
Tbh, the Pathfinder looks the sexiest, inside, and out. Nissan should do a Nismo Pathfinder, with twin turbo 3.0👍👍👍🇨🇦💯🔥🔥🔥🔥
Shqipe you know I've been asking for explorer st vs durango srt lol😖😖😖 if you ever the the chance to make that setup happen make sure the st is on 93 if you want the full 400hp or just do some other races with an st 😆 I just want to see my baby get some love lol
I need to find the Explorer ST
Sam carlegion do 2021 Toyota Highlander xse vs explorer XLT sport
People underestimate the pathfinder my dad has the 2022 pathfinder and it moves he raced a motorcycle and he won 🏆
Than that motor cycle must be really slow
i honestly thought the ford would walk the nissan in everything. so, yeah, i'm shocked. great job nissan!
He in a base that's why
@@haroldbeauchamp3770 dude that commentwas made 8 momths ago,go away and stay.i said what i said.....
Ford Explorer looks absolutely sharp and classy.Reminds me of the Range Rover. The pathfinder front end looks a bit generic and boring in my opinion.
Exactly my thoughts
Do a Jeep Grand Cherokee L Vs This Ford Explorer too
Should've used the Explorer ST
The Pathfinder is my next SUV in couple years.
New pathfinder is my favorite, way better, slick and still rough SUV design. So sad the Fuel is now so expensive, i love the pathfinder 2022, but because of expensie fuel, ill go for a phev or full electric.
I definitely wouldn't want anything that looks like cop car. The Nissan has class 💯
I believe that 2.3 in the ford makes more than 280hp and 400nm of torque
So how heavy is the vehicle exactly
I like the explorer is better in terms of exterior design I think Nissan is trying to hard. Simple is sometimes better. I dont think that policies driving it should take away from it.
You should try limited explorer
At first the 2.3l engine was bad, then at the end is super impressive😂. The seat of the pants sometimes of some people is very off sometimes lmao
I like the Nissan other than that terrible v motion plastic chrome grille
I wrapped mine in black wrap, works so well with the black grille and the new Nissan logo with the white lettering. Changes the front end 100%
@@jimwallace4164 smart. I want to do that to some interior pieces on my truck. The sun shines on them and I can’t see while I’m driving.
I am so dead 😆.... I didn't think he was gonna actually drag race two SUVs
It’s actually the best way to test they 4wd and the power output of the engine
The pathfinder's back🙏😍, only bad CVT trans
That 2nd race!
Wooooooooo!
Killer review!
Nice video
Vq still doing its thing decades later lol
Side note aswell...i dont understand how you feel the 2.3 doesnt feel strong enough for that suv considering its about a second faster 0 to 60...feels faster across the entire rev range...and makes quite a bit more hp and torque then the pathfinder
I’m leasing an explorer and other than the 4 cylinder noise in the cabin, these other issues he states do not exist.
I just bought a 2022 Ford Explorer ST. It is amazing.
How's fuel consumption?
have you had any issues with transmission or anything else? i really wanna get an explorer in the future but i hear a lot about transmission problems
@@janbeltre1244 Yes I have. Its clunky, and holds gears to long in "sport mode". There is wind noise, likely from the sunroof, even when shut tight. However its still great, fast, and looks great to my eye. Although I live in a neighborhood where you'll see Porsche, Ranger Rover. BMW, Audi SUVs, random strangers compliment its appearance all the time.
@@jimthompson717 damn i see. i guess i’ll keep debating whether to get one or not
With the SC the pathfinder will get walked?? So the pathfinder has 116 hp less weighs more and the 500 hp explorer will walk it?
How about a turbo on the Pathfinder?
Considering the 400 hp Explorer was out run in sport mode and from a roll.
That pathfinder may just need a pro tune and some bolt on to beat the SC
You should do a platinum vs a platinum not the explorer base model
So you are using a platnum Pathfind vs a xlt explorer.what about making it fair and use platnum explorer and see the difference.
I watched another viedo,on the pathfinder off road edition.
Same motor as all of them, they said premium gas adds 11 hp.
The testing guys could not see any reason it would not do the same on all of them.
Next tank I'm going to try it,if i had a full tank of regular i would use octane booster.
We need a 2021 odyssey vs 2021 sienna race
The pathfinder won the sport mode race.
400 hp high output vs 284 naturally aspirated.
I was just coming here to respond to your claims that the 4 cyl doesn’t belong in the explorer and was not fast enough. That twin turbo 4 post 0-60 speeds in the 6 plus second range and is very fast. Even when you had bad launches in the explorer it pulled ahead or held its own. I’m still watching and it sounds like you’ve now figured that out lol.
Yeah I wondered why he said that . I'm surprised that the explorer didn't walk the Pathfinder . I think that the Ford looks better but the Nissan with an actual transmission at least it's a good option .
@@jackfishcampbell6745 I agree with you, I would have expected the explorer to leave the pathfinder. Still don’t totally understand that. Maybe if they switched drivers the outcome would have been slightly more pronounced
In the sport mode run the Nissan Pathfinder started way before the Explorer. This is why you can’t rely on performance data from amateurs. If your reaction time sucks, you’re going to lose even with more power
I recently had mitsubishi outlander 2023 sel.. my next level is the nissan pathfinder for sure..
