You can also get access to free resources on our website here: paintingbusinesspro.com/ It's certainly easier to start this business if you DO have experience. But you can also run and build a great company without that experience. This video will show you how to do that.

Incredible video! Packed with great free information in a straight forward and digestible manner. Thanks. I can get started with this at least
I would also recommend checking out our full training program on the Painting Business Pro website. That's the most powerful training we offer people to build a company, get out of the day to day, and see big growth in the business. It covers everything from A-Z. That'll give you literally everything you need to build a company that brings you a great living while keeping a great balance with life.
thanks Eric been following you since 2019 on my other channel. you help a lot.
Great!
Here in Nevada you can only do it if you have a contracting license for painting maybe I’m not understanding how it quite works but I’m a little lost
Its cool i also wanna start one
GENUINELY GOOD INFO
Thanks Luis. Hope it helps 👍
Do you have partnerships with realtors?
Thanks
What if I’m wanting to do a solo/family owned thing and paint myself. Is that possible or do I have to get in touch with subcontractors. I make next to nothing at my current job, if I make 500 a week I’ll be turning profit compared to what I have now
You could start thwre but I wouldn’t recommend it long term. Go hustle up a few jobs and paint them yourself. The next move will be to start subcontracting out the bigger ones. Then transition to the next step. Go create that freedom for yourself!
Iv got 2 years in painting and decorating experience and I'm wanting to go contracting with the experience I have lol
Good idea!
What do you recommend as far as how to price quotes?
I have some basic estimating guides on the website for free, which you can download here: www.paintingbusinesspro.com/estimating-guide
And we have much more detailed estimating training in our full business training program here: paintingbusinesspro.com/pbp-training-program
thanks for the education
You got it
Hi my name is Martin Weaver and I spoke with Doug recently and I'm wondering can you teach me how to Market to get leads and also how to hire painters and then of course how much is your course I think it may just well be for me, I've been watching a lot of your videos thank you very much
Yea we teach everything needed to go from $0 to a multi million dollar business. We have a couple different program options depending on what you qualify for. So just reach back out to Doug when you’re serious about getting started 👍
I have worked in Land Surveying and Heavy Construction for the last 6 years. I feel I am ready to start a painting business. About to buy a truck as well. Need one anyway.
You don’t need a truck to run a painting business. Stay lean and keep early investment super low
how do you find people interested in getting services?
Marketing! Not to be a smart ass. But lots of things to do. Just look for some marketing videos
Does the Sub need/want to come out and get their own estimate or do they just rely on your estimate?
They rely on ours. This is one reason why it’s important to have a very accurate and consistent way of doing estimates. After we have established a relationship we and they both know that our prices match up with where theirs need to be for them to be successful.
@@PaintingBusinessPro great answer. thanks.
How much to charge customers ?
I have videos on that. Just check the channel.
I cant right now lol
Is a painters license required to start? Because you need at least 4 years in the trade to obtain your license and you need to provide proof of those 4 years of experience
Depends on where you are
And how exactly do you provide proof?
What about starting close to the end of the year? Can I do say an apartment complex interior? Would that be to complicated?
Just start.
You’re in it for the long game anyways

Hello am Ibrahim from guinée. Il interested. André i got a little company of paint .
So id like to got relation ship with à paint compte production in usa.
Can someone work for themselves in starting there own painting business and not hire anyone to do the painting and do everything yourself?
Absolutely. Just make sure you still charge as much as everyone else so you just make more money as a painter. You can create a really nice income doing the painting yourself, if that's what you love to do. Focus on high end. Charge premium. You're worth premium if you're the owner who is also doing all the painting, on site daily, etc... And you do an excellent job. Since you can't do AS MANY jobs, be premium.
@PaintingBusinessPro okay thanks for the help
what customer would hire a painter who has no experience? they wouldn't. Prepping, rolling and cutting are 95% of the job and it may not be rocket science, but there are skills required for each of those that don't just happen without putting in the time and training. Understanding the process of what to paint and in what order can't be learned without the experience. Cutting in a wall professionally takes a lot of hours to get right. Someone who has never painted wouldn't last long and would likely get fired from their first job.
You can sub out all the production though
He literally just explained this in the video.
If you're working for a company, you are correct, but self employment, anyone can start, you just have to know your limits and where to start. Don't start with new houses or really big jobs. Start with touch ups or maybe outside painting like fences or outside buildings and work your way from there
@@drewcrawford2945 thanks. The challenge I see is that exteriors require the huge ladder, which won't fit in my car. But I can handle interiors no problem. But the biggest problem I see is getting enough clients. would you advertise online?
