    Great video! You make me wanna try that senka sunscreen:")
    Anyway 354 nm in uvinul a plus is only the "peak" absorbance but the filter still cover up to 400 nm instead of tinosorb s (290-390ish nm) and the absorbance on UVA range, uvinul A plus still better than tinosorb S (since the protection goes down after 370 nm) so... yeah maybe a new consideration?
    Here's the link of picture that shown the wavelength covered by some UV filter, from a journal in 2016 www.google.com/search?q=tinosorb+s+wavelength&safe=strict&client=ms-android-samsung&prmd=isnv&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjp_cmp-OHjAhXj6XMBHe-2DzsQ_AUoAXoECA4QAQ&biw=360&bih=560&dpr=3#imgrc=kc9nhYqLiE31jM

      Great info!!! Thank you for sharing! I have seen that chart for tinosorb s and m and mineral filters hence my note about the exponential decrease of Tinosorb s past 370, but had not seen for the others. Super helpful! Do you have any guess as to why cosdna rates uvinul a poorly vs other spfs?

    • @hanamiya8008
      @hanamiya8008 5 років тому +3

      @@LogicvsLuxury I'm glad to know it helps!
      I don't know why cosdna decide it as only UVA2 filter... maybe because the protection really goes down after 354, although if we compared it to the other it still better from majority of UV filter .-. (Although avobenzone and tinosorb M definitely better than Uvinul a plus)

      www.carecreations.basf.com/news-media/studies-articles/news-detail/2013/9/10/the-evolution-of-uva-protection
      It's a little bit better to look because it's color coded, but the abbreviation quite confusing tho
      Anyway i was super suprised to know that Zinc Oxide is really that low when I first saw this

      Thank you for this! I'm currently using Klairs, so does this mean it is ok for longer outdoor exposure (full-spectrum)?

    • @LogicvsLuxury
      @LogicvsLuxury  5 років тому +6

      Veronica: my takeaway is that While full spectrum, it’s not as good as the ones with additional filters like tinosorb s bc uvinul a declines after 354nm! On the same hand, would not want an spf that only has tinosorb s and no uvinul a!

      Dohyonie It’s best to use hardcore sunscreen when you are out in the sun. The Klairs sunscreen is good, but it only has two filters. When you are inside all day or only go outside to get to work, it should protect your skin just fine.

    The Biore aqua rich watery essence is “super water resistant and strong to sweat and water.” It says so on the package in Japanese. When it first came out it wasn’t so but the formula was redone in I wanna say 2017 to upgrade it to a water resistant formula.

      From those 3 I feel like Purito is the best but the scent is a little bit overwhelming for me, and since I tried the unscented one, it instantly became my favorite!

      It's really individualized on if a person is irritated by the denatured alcohol in sunscreens. However, all fragrance-free sunscreens are relatively low risk for irritation. But I wouldn't say denatured alcohol in sunscreen can't be problematic. It just depends on your tolerance with denatured alcohol.

    This has been the year of the Asian sunscreen for me!
    So far out of the ones you mentioned I have tried the Klairs, the Purito, and the make:prem. I have a version of the biore sunscreen that is a little different, but you can smell the alcohol the second it comes out of the bottle. I’ve been using it on my body though!
    I agree with your assessment of each of these texturally, though I have dry skin - I plan on trying the make:prem during the winter to hopefully keep a more hydrated look. The Klairs is just okay for me, and I don’t like how long it takes to be worked in. I’ve ordered a different SPF from purito that Gothamista recently recommended - it’s a mineral spf that she says feels like a chemical filter, so that definitely piqued my interest. I’ll have to try the senka, too.
    I’ve also fallen in love with the heimish artless glow base, which is marketed as an spf, but I just layer it over my other spf and use it as a primer for makeup. ☺️

Lol my nose must not be working because I didn't smell NO alcohol 🤔 wondering what everyone else is taking about in regards to the smell. It barely smells like anything👍 I recieved the 2019 version.

    Japanese:
    ALLIE Extra UV Gel (water & friction proof!)
    Korean:
    BENTON Mineral Sun Cream (superior version of Purito's Comfy Water Sunblock imo)
    ISNTREE Hyaluronic Acid Perfect Sunblock (very nice texture and hydrating)

    One of the reviews on Amazon.co.uk regarding the Shisheido Senka sunscreen say this : ""Very good BUT no UVA
    Very good sunscreen, comfortable, cosmetically elegant and it didnt break me out. BUT, it is not UVA protection. UVA gets to the deepest level of the skin, the dermis. This is where the sun protection needs to count, as the dermis holds all the collagen that you want to protect to keep skin young.
    So overall great, but im not sure non-native speaking people will understand this or know the information anyway! ""
    I was about to buy the Senka but now that I read this im confused?? doesnt it have UVA protection?

    I use and love the Hada Labo white gel but have also tried and liked the Shiseido Senka. The only drawback to that one is that it contains avobenzone which photo degrades. (That's why American sunscreens suck!)

    Incredible video. Love that you show what each feels like and the finish. Easy for me to pick and choose without wasting money on trial.
    Love that you explain which sunscreens’ ingredients protect against which type of rays. I know that the spf doesn’t tell the whole story but this video really does highlight which ones don’t protect against UVA
    Can you do a part 2 with more sunscreens. I’d love to see Supergoop and Anessa. :)

      Yup! Another commenter, Hanami shared the info with me! Thank you! I had not seen the absorption charts for uvinul but did for tinosorb hence why I mentioned the quick decline after 370nm. That said my takeaway is that you’d prefer to have an spf with both uvinul a and tinosorb s for better all around protection (which iirc all the spfs mentioned with tinosorb also had uvinul but not the other way around).

    This is a great video. I subscribed. I do prefer the name of the sunscreen kept on when you have the list of screens on. I screenshot them 😱. I like that it show your actual application as that is the one thing reviewers leave out. So that’s unique. And informative and shows the finish. Is 1/4 tsp enough for face and neck? I’m a guy. I thought it was 1/4 for face and 1/4 for neck ears. I never measured but I think I’m over doing it.
    Do you reapply on a regular work day? If so how many times or how frequent. I feel like everyone says this is necessary but sometimes it just seems irritating and harder to wash away.
    Do you tend to use moisturizer under sunscreens?

    • @benjaminnhlam2867
      @benjaminnhlam2867 5 років тому

      Zinc oxide is slightly better at UVA protection than UVB and it is, by and large, the only truly "broad spectrum" sunscreen ingredient with great coverage of both UVB and UVA. Also as mineral filters, both of them are a lot more stable than the chemical ones and less likely to degrade once you put it on your skin and hence, they're a little bit more forgiving for people who are lazy and don't reapply as often as they should.
