- On October 21, 1995, Crook & Chase (Lorianne Crook & Charlie Chase) came to the Mel Tillis Theatre in Branson, MO to promote their new book. Joining them onstage for the festivities were Mel Tillis, Glen Campbell, Charley Pride and Hank Williams III. Here is Hank III singing, "Your Cheatin' Heart". All of the performers that day were backed by The Statesiders and The Statesider Singers (including The Stutterettes). Hank III was 22 years old in this clip.

This is almost haunting. He looks and sounds so much like his granddaddy. It’s a beautiful thing.

Truth be told hank sr is a vampire and he stopped sucking blood for a while and got his back surgery that he needed so bad for his body. Our boy hank 3 is just Sr. In disguise, lowered his voice even🤘🏼😂

I love him. Dick in Dixie is one of my absolute favorite songs. I had never seen this video. I love classic country. I had so much fun downloading hours and hours of real country and burning mp3 cds for my grandfather.

Hank Sr got fired from the Grand Ole Opry, they're still pissed at Hank Jr for sounding too much like southern rock and incorporating blues influence into his sound, so Hank iii playing a combination of country and death metal is EXACTLY what he's supposed to be doing.

Hank Williams III is honoring his grand father. You Americans should be really proud to have such a fantastic artist. Country musicians are the poets of America. I almost started to weep when I listen to this song.

I saw him in Texas and when he started singing, I closed my eyes and could see his grandfather standing there and singing. Same stance and voice, had the pleasure of meeting him after the show.
He's the spitting image of his grandfather. not only in his looks but also the way he sings. it's amazing that he's so much like his grandfather. and it's too bad that he won't be recognized by younger generations. but anyone that is old enough to remember Hank Williams Sr.. will definitely think he's great. and it's like getting to have Hank Williams Sr. again since he died at a very young age. and we didn't get to have near enough of him.

Guess by some of the comments on here that some don't realise what kind of a journey Hank III has been on since this was recorded nearly 30 years ago......I'm not a fan of his metal stuff but the kick-ass country that he served up was pretty damned good. Let's not all forget that Hank Sr. himself died in his prime and never had to deal with the change in tastes as well as continuing to fight his own demons like Hank III has had to do. Really hope to hear from HW3 again soon.

That's what it is, everyone is a reincarnation of their forebears. I know many many people, that look exactly like one of their parents, grandparents or greatgrandparents.
My cousin for example is a carbon copy of my grandfather. And I'm a carbon copy of my greatgreat-grandfather, and my father is... And so on and so forth.
However, because Hank Williams is famous, there are so many people expecting him to be like himself, it can be a bit hard. Especially when he actually grew up not getting much of an inheritance from his father or grandfather in terms of stories told, memories shared.

IV and the Strange Band are a new generation of interesting. We're lucky to have 3 "Hanks" alive and making music (or having made music) in one lifetime. Each is amazing in their own way.

He took a pivot and plays much different music now. I think he could have gone far with singing only country music. But obviously it was his choice and I wish him the best of luck. I grew up with heavy metal and country. So I do enjoy some of his other music as well.

Hank Jr must have took after his mom Audrey's side of the family. Hank Sr's daughter (who is known as "Jet Williams" & who was born after his sudden 1953 death) looks a lot like her dad (especially her mouth).

Hank II worked so hard to make his music career independant from under his dad's shadow. And he did. Hank II had a great career. But it's nice to have Hank III bringing back the OLD country. I hope he can find a good song writer to make some new OLD-type of songs. There can never be too many "Hank I" songs.
