Well Peter didn't exactly water things down when he did talk so the media machine of Davey and Mickey especially Mickey, would talk a lot and just repeat the same stories over and over from one interview to the next from one year to the next LOL Peter just said what he thought and answered the question hahaha he was terribly cool!
Last train To Clarkville was a anti-war song about the Military reporting Centre in Clarksville prior to being shipped to Vietnam. " I don't know if I'm ever coming home" was because he could be killed during his Tour Of Duty.
And now my favorite, Mike has also just passed away leaving Mickey , who he toured with just a month ago, as the only Monkee left.. I miss you guys and thank you for showing up for that audition 😉
Man they were great fun to watch back then, guess we were pretty dorky compared with the new hipsters today but I wouldn't trade for anything! Long live The Monkees!
I was @that show same last year! Almost didnt go but something in my heart told me I NEEDED to. Was delighted they stepped out of the classic songs &played what us devout fans want 2hear. Im in my 30s & older ppl looked @me when I sang EVERY song. For some reason that night, I got a strange feeling I'd never see them in this capacity again. Hung around wishing I had done the meet & greet; just couldnt pull myself away. Sadly my sixth sense was correct &we all lost Davy eight months later....
Davy Jones passed away, exactly 1 year and 1 week after this taping. He woke up, took his horse for a ride, told his wife that he couldn't breath and died of a massive heart attack. R.I.P. Davy !
RIP Davy Jones. I was lucky enough to see The Monkees at the Royal Albert Hall last year and it was a great, fun show! Another legend gone way too soon... :(
Davy Jones has the same rare accent as Graham Nash, though unsurprisingly as they both were brought up in Manchester and then spent most of their time in the US since the late '60s
I have seen all four of them perform in the nineties and I am a Nesmith fan but I have to say the concert I went to last night was far more superior than any I have been to before. The guys rocked.
Watched clip&read the comments. Here's my take: We cant be young 4ever, we all grow old then sadly pass. If you're a true fan u stick by them. Mike hasnt been in "the band" in forever, get over it if not move on. Beatles vs Monkees, who cares? U like who u like. I personally think their yrs of on-stage charisma showed Peter, Micky & Davy's TRUE professionalism. Most groups don't last 45 yrs w/o issues. Whatever their motives 4touring, u have a choice go or not. I choose go&put all the bs behind.
snooooopycomehome I’ve seen them live 3 times. 2 times with just Davy and Mickey and 1 time with Peter. They were awesome and so much fun to see in concert.
Oh please please please come to the United States!!!!!!!! The last time I saw you guys was at the World Trade Center. Peter - I'm so glad you're okay now and well enough to tour. And Micky - I love your new CD!!!!!! I bought it for myself and for three of my friends!!!!!! Can't wait to see you guys!!!!!!
I loooove the look on Peters face when Davey mentions his wife. Its like come the f*** on. we were a boy band. No one expects boy bands to be straight. And of all of us Davey, you were the last one anyone would ever think is straight ツ
Young interviewers are such punters, aren't they? 'And you, Peter is it?' Peter Tork had THE best acid in L.A. and the parties at his Laurel Canyon home are historical. Zappa jamming with Stephen Stills, Hendrix sharing a J with Mickey Dolenz. Lennon chatting up Joni. Buddy Miles tappin' a sofa pillow. Was this where Jimi met Buddy Miles? Machine gun, y'all! 'Now, now, don't do too much Monkee'ing about' she said.
Buddy Miles spent some of his last days with us in Chicago on the Blues scene and he was the coolest Brotha,..he played with us on stage almost every night ,.singing and playing guitar !!!
Yeah that's what I thought. I saw an interview with him at his home in the midwest somewhere, but he was the only one at the house at the time of the interview so I just assumed that he had a wife and kid..
Only 56 episodes of The Monkees tv show? Shoot. I was hoping there were more. I've only just started to watch those episodes. It will be over all too soon.
@Dumbsnowguy they are only trying to make a living like all of us are. There are alot of fans that are very happy that they are touring again and can't wait to see them!
@theLaNDoftheLOOPS I don't know if it's available on vinyl or only on CD but there's an solo album called "Stranger Things Have Happened" and I think there's an Shue Suede Blues CD
@DumbSnowGuy so they're touring for the money there is nothing wrong with that. We go and see them because we love the music. We love the guys and for me personally this is something that I have longed for for many years. All credit to them
@Torkgasmicgirl8 Other interesting interviews are 'the Monkees on People are talking' 'The Monkees on Clive James talks back 1997' '14th annual American music awards'. Tour cancelled THAT SUCKS.
Heard a lot of tales about these guys being draft dodgers, firstly they were actors/singers so automatically have less chance of being called up for active service think "John Wayne". Secondly Dolenz and Jones both received there drafts, Dolenz was excused due to having one leg shorter than the other and being underweight and unfit to serve, Jones was excused as he was the sole source of income for his family at the time. Nesmith had already served in the Airforce and tork never got his draft
I know that Mike never needed the money, having inherited $90 million from his mother, who invented Liquid Paper, but it would have been great if he had wanted to be with them, as well.
He did make appearances here and there, whenever possible. What most fans don't seem to get is that he had a company to run, and it wasn't liquid paper. He did inherit a ton of money but his mom sold their company before she died. He simply had his own thing going on and going out on a tour and dropping everything else was just not possible.
@DumbSnowGuy we are never going to agree on this! Why can't you just accept the fact that they are touring and that we as fans get to see them and enjoy their music one more time maybe for the last time. So let's enjoy it and I also know from others that they are NOT assholes!!
I've noticed that barrel-chested men have heart problems 'early on'. Davey didn't used to be so, but developed such later. Just an observation noticed over the years. No disrespect intended toward him or his family.
Thanks for making my sad childhood have happy memories. Davy, you will be missed!!! 66 is way too young to die!
David and Mick are so talkative that Peter can hardly get a word in. He's so darn cute. I know what it's like to have talkative friends. lol
but Peter is the wittiest one
Well Peter didn't exactly water things down when he did talk so the media machine of Davey and Mickey especially Mickey, would talk a lot and just repeat the same stories over and over from one interview to the next from one year to the next LOL Peter just said what he thought and answered the question hahaha he was terribly cool!
Last train To Clarkville was a anti-war song about the Military reporting Centre in Clarksville prior to being shipped to Vietnam. " I don't know if I'm ever coming home" was because he could be killed during his Tour Of Duty.
It’s sad that just one year and 8 days later, Davy dies. And exactly 8 years later (to the day in fact), Peter dies.
RIP to Davy and Peter.
And now my favorite, Mike has also just passed away leaving Mickey , who he toured with just a month ago, as the only Monkee left.. I miss you guys and thank you for showing up for that audition 😉
Seeing them in September, been waiting for 45 years!
Peter has a really sweet face, and the dimples are still there :)
Man they were great fun to watch back then, guess we were pretty dorky compared with the new hipsters today but I wouldn't trade for anything! Long live The Monkees!
I Saw Them Perform On 23rd Of May And I Think They Were Really Good :D
I Got To Go On Stage :)
Love these guys always !!!!
This is fantastic the interviewers treated them with the respect they truly deserve. I can't wait to see them. Micky is amazing!!!
I saw Peters band a few years ago and they were really good. My son has the cd from that we got then. It;s good
Davy Jones passed away, exactly 1 year and 1 week after this taping. He woke up, took his horse for a ride, told his wife that he couldn't breath and died of a massive heart attack. R.I.P. Davy !
Barbara DuBeck - 'breathe'
Uh, who told you that? That’s really cleaned up.... the poor guy suffered....I believe he died in FL.
RIP Davy Jones. I was lucky enough to see The Monkees at the Royal Albert Hall last year and it was a great, fun show! Another legend gone way too soon... :(
Awesome video!!
R.I.P. Davy
Im a huge Monkee fan love Davy Ill LOve him Forever
Great to see three-quarters of the band back together again!
Thanks deadite87 for editing this for us to watch. You did a great job!
It's joyful to see these Characters back bantering as we all did as kids when young.
Can't believe I missed this when it first aired!
There will be no other singer of Daydream believer like Davy. R.I.P. and thanks for the laughs!
funny how mike nesmith isn't even mentioned
Is this last interview with Davy Jones? it must be one of them, they are just not the same without Davy Jones.
Micky was my fav 💜💜
we love these guys !
@SarahMilton64 ...Yeah...Peter was the cutest Monkee in my eyes (you can keep your Davy Jones!!)
RIP Davy. You will be missed.
The concerts were excellent! Well worth the ticket price. Well done guys.
Davy Jones has the same rare accent as Graham Nash, though unsurprisingly as they both were brought up in Manchester and then spent most of their time in the US since the late '60s
got my tickets!!! hell yeah!!
I saw them when they had their last major tour in the late 80's. I am booking my tickets for the UK gig!!
I have seen all four of them perform in the nineties and I am a Nesmith fan but I have to say the concert I went to last night was far more superior than any I have been to before. The guys rocked.
Great clip-I always loved the Monkees and of course David Jones. He will be missed. Rest in Peace, Davy.

Love Peter's face when Davy mentions his bird dancer wife.😂😂😂
I think the fact that they don't get along seems to add to their chemistry on stage! In a strange sort of way
I am going to see them in Birmingham and Nottingham. So looking forward to it can't wait
Classic concert brilliant
Oh please please please come to the United States!!!!!!!! The last time I saw you guys was at the World Trade Center. Peter - I'm so glad you're okay now and well enough to tour. Its like come the f*** on. we were a boy band. No one expects boy bands to be straight. And of all of us Davey, you were the last one anyone would ever think is straight ツ
They weren't all straight? Am I missing something here?
RIP Davy ! R I P Peter !

@sedg166 ...Yes I saw them in Glasgow...fantastic show...they're on form ...even in 2011 !!
11:17
Tork avoided the stork. Good for him
He has children
Yeah that's what I thought. I saw an interview with him at his home in the midwest somewhere, but he was the only one at the house at the time of the interview so I just assumed that he had a wife and kid..
Tickets purchased for the 25th anniversary of their 20th anniversary tour !
@XxshipleyxX - agreed! His songs he wrote for the show (e.g. "Mary Mary", which was his first) were FANTASTIC.
GOD BLESS YOU FOREVER DAVY JONES.
Only 56 episodes of The Monkees tv show? Shoot. I was hoping there were more. I've only just started to watch those episodes. It will be over all too soon.
There's 58. You're in luck! (if you've not already found that out since)
R.I.P DAVY JONES..YOU WERE AWESOME.
Shocked n saddened. RIP Davy.
@Dumbsnowguy they are only trying to make a living like all of us are. There are alot of fans that are very happy that they are touring again and can't wait to see them!
Yeah you can also keep up to date in facebook on the Peter H Tork page
The ONE "dislike" HAS to be Nesmith. LOL
now im going to focus on hopefully meeting Peter one day, I think he is still great, Id love to talk to him
@theLaNDoftheLOOPS I don't know if it's available on vinyl or only on CD but there's an solo album called "Stranger Things Have Happened" and I think there's an Shue Suede Blues CD
Thumbs up if you've got tickets to see them for the tour :)
you said it right on the money!

Wow, to think Davy died a week later...RIP Davy you will be missed
OH MICKY WAS CUTE TOO DAVY WAS FAVORITE
Peter is so sweet!
Davy hates Peter's guts. Look at how he glares at him. Yikes!
:( goodbye Davy this seems just like yesterday
it is NOT called the monkees without davy..
@XxshipleyxX He mostly preferred to work on his own projects; music video development, his own music, etc.
@SarahMilton64 ..Thanks for that Sarah! -- I'm going to check them out now! - Love Jacqui X
@MascotOfAGeneration I hope he never changes.
Shoe Suede Blues :P. I wonder is Peter Tork is a Carl Perkins fan, or was inspired by his work.
Aw I wanted to see the otters!
@jenkzkh No, I kidnapped the real Peter 43 years ago, and he's been living in my cellar in south west England ever since ♥
Why does Mike never go with the other 3 Monkees? - is he embarrassed by it all?
@DumbSnowGuy so they're touring for the money there is nothing wrong with that. We go and see them because we love the music. We love the guys and for me personally this is something that I have longed for for many years. All credit to them
@Torkgasmicgirl8 Other interesting interviews are 'the Monkees on People are talking' 'The Monkees on Clive James talks back 1997' '14th annual American music awards'. Tour cancelled THAT SUCKS.
YESSSSSSS!!! :D
Mike nesbit never joins the other 3 why?
Heard a lot of tales about these guys being draft dodgers, firstly they were actors/singers so automatically have less chance of being called up for active service think "John Wayne".
Secondly Dolenz and Jones both received there drafts, Dolenz was excused due to having one leg shorter than the other and being underweight and unfit to serve, Jones was excused as he was the sole source of income for his family at the time.
Nesmith had already served in the Airforce and tork never got his draft
@strawbootie
This was from 2011 not 1 week ago!
RIP Davy.
Peter died 2/21/19-Exactly 8 yrs later, to the day....
RIP Davy
@sanham1954 what's up with them?
I know that Mike never needed the money, having inherited $90 million from his mother, who invented Liquid Paper, but it would have been great if he had wanted to be with them, as well.

That's brill I'm jealous
Why was the hat bluured out?
aw, he loves his girls. Annabel is so cool
@DumbSnowGuy we are never going to agree on this! Why can't you just accept the fact that they are touring and that we as fans get to see them and enjoy their music one more time maybe for the last time. So let's enjoy it and I also know from others that they are NOT assholes!!
@MechoMadness --- that comment is so 1986
I've noticed that barrel-chested men have heart problems 'early on'. Davey didn't used to be so, but developed such later. Just an observation noticed over the years. No disrespect intended toward him or his family.
@MechoMadness Mickey looks like Newt Gingrich(that's not a compliment..)
RIP
5:09 😂
@BrightStaroftheDawn okay, now I finally agree, u must be balmy.
