There are many like me - grew up with Maiden since early 80's, bought killers when I was 12 and haven't missed a single song since. This is the soundtrack to my life, Maiden touched lives all over the world for over 4 decades and they continue to. Just sheer talent with an (almost) obsessive adherence to their sound and their goal. It has been a treat to have a third guitarist added to the fold - for as good as the bass, drums and Bruce are - the riffs and the synergy in the guitars is the part that always stuck in my head. Janick is the perfect add to Dave and Adrian.

How about those drums too. Nicko’s drumming throughout is spectacular especially if you listen close to what he is doing under the guitar solos (which are themselves spectacular).

I believe he had throat cancer at some point in the years between the shows I saw. It was amazing to see him sing with just as much vigor as he did in 1982. A faction of the fans criticized this song when it came out in 2003, because it has many pauses (which is partially true)... which is the reason why the rest of the fans loved it lol. I like how it mimics the rhythm of the battle and the mechanic fire of the gatling guns, and how the whole song is basically a death march. If you're not familiar with the Battle of Passchendaele, read the Wikipedia article. One of the deadliest battles of WW1, almost immediately considered a total fiasco and one of the worst disasters in British military history. The campaign took place in a swamp in Belgium, it lasted three months, and one of battles happened under a heavy rain ("Blood is falling like the rain"...). At the end, both factions lost tens of thousands of soldiers. Another cool thing about the song is that the solo section is constantly descending in tonality, from E minor (first solo, Dave Murray) to C# minor (second, Adrian Smith) to G# minor (verse: "Blood is falling like the rain"); third solo (Janick Gers) is in D minor, a tritone from G# minor.
If you wanna see superb fan engagement and some more amazing storytelling, you *MUST* react to Iron Maiden's Fear of the Dark live. We harmonize to most of the song when we're not singing along with Bruce.

ESPECIALLY if you grew up with that earlier generation that went through that MADNESS.... Also to note. Iron Maiden are the children of those who went through that MADNESS.....
If you really want to enjoy Bruce's voice, I'd recommend you listen to Tears of the Dragon. It is from his solo work, and it is very different from his work with Iron Maiden.
2 of the greatest battles in WW1 were Paschendale and Vimmy Ridge. Both had other allied troops try to take the ground. But in these 2 battles Canadian troops went farther and harder and took more ground than any other army. In WW11 Canada's troops stormed the "supposed" 2nd best defended. so 2nd toughest beachheads to invade. Yet by the end of the day Canadian troops had reached farther into France than any other countries.
Pascendale is a spine tingling song in every respect. The studio version has some orchestration which makes it even cooler. And yeah the lyrics are really poignant.

Anthem for Doomed Youth
BY WILFRED OWEN
What passing-bells for these who die as cattle?
- Only the monstrous anger of the guns.
Only the stuttering rifles' rapid rattle
Can patter out their hasty orisons.
No mockeries now for them; no prayers nor bells;
Nor any voice of mourning save the choirs,-
The shrill, demented choirs of wailing shells;
And bugles calling for them from sad shires.
What candles may be held to speed them all?
Not in the hands of boys, but in their eyes
Shall shine the holy glimmers of goodbyes.
The pallor of girls' brows shall be their pall;
Their flowers the tenderness of patient minds,
And each slow dusk a drawing-down of blinds.

I got so excited I just kept saying it lol
Hilarious ahahaha
Bruce recently released a two part behind the scenes about his vocal care and costume changes while touring.
"RIME OF THE ANCIENT MARINER " LIVE
Absolutely stunning!
If you really want to enjoy Bruce's voice, I'd recommend you listen to Tears of the Dragon. It is from his solo work, and it is very different from his work with Iron Maiden.
The live version with Trisbury is incredible
have you watched this ? This is King Bruce. Jerusalem live.

@@MadMaxPuppy Hands down.. In addition to another very short a-capella version that worths mentioning also.
@@Rayidrs Its spectacular.. bruce kills it.
You wanna succeed as a band, tell stories. That's how the biggest names in Metal became big.
Great reaction! There’s no band like maiden! React to the talisman live ! That’s another amazing performance
Maiden made history class in high school cool
2 of the greatest battles in WW1 were Paschendale and Vimmy Ridge. Both had other allied troops try to take the ground. But in these 2 battles Canadian troops went farther and harder and took more ground than any other army. In WW11 Canada's troops stormed the "supposed" 2nd best defended. so 2nd toughest beachheads to invade. Yet by the end of the day Canadian troops had reached farther into France than any other countries.
Passchendaele is so much more to Canada
They are absolutely awesome lyrics, but also very sad.
You need to check.out their 2001 Rock in Rio performance. Sign of the Cross. Blood Brothers. The Clansman to name just a few
City of Sound should do a Maiden cover! 🤘🏼🤘🏼😆
LOLLLLL
Pascendale is a spine tingling song in every respect. The studio version has some orchestration which makes it even cooler. And yeah the lyrics are really poignant.
IRON MAIDEN - Dance Of Death (Live Chile)
The music is written by Adrian Smith (second solo)
AND the epochal intro/outro!
You should try Fear of the Dark from Flight 666. The crowd almost drowns out the band with the singing
Sounds good
Iron Maiden Hallowed be thy name live is tremendous Aces High Fly To The Sky Like an Eagle is great
It is said that the drum is a symbol of morse code
and filmed in Westfalenhallen in Dortmund,
Thinking man’s metal.
This
Im late to the show but if you like the story of Pashendale you should check out the band Sabaton with their song ¨the price of a mile¨
Thank you for the suggestion
I think you would love “ the clansman “ it’s about what the English did to the Scottish . Such a good song ! I seen them last year , it was epic , he had wrist bands on that shot huge flames .
If you haven't you need to list to the ryme of the achinet mainer
Bruce wrote it the poem. The tapping of the hi-hat is supposed to be morse code.
More iron maiden?
Kick ass 🤘
Please react to Brice's performance from this past March. Tears of the Dragon in Europe. Man is a Machine! He prides himself on his singing. He doesnt back down from those high notes...
Great channel sir. Subbed
There's only one Dave Murray.
U should listen to a similar song thats about the same battle, sung by Lee Kernigan called Oh Passchendaele on the album Spirit of the Anzacs.
I am a very die-hard Ironman fan I am a mature adult I remember money formed in 1975 they've had several lead singers but I believe that Bruce Dickinson is the best in my opinion they all give unique qualities but I guess I'm just biased
while maiden is 1 of my all time favorite bands, { i have 2 maiden tattoos} you need to get back to Nightwish, you listeneed to 2 of their most mellow songs, try Nightwish " Storytime" at waken
@William Nettnin cause both songs were kinda slow, storytime or romanticide might change your mind
Romanticide this week
I I’m fairly new to checking out your videos awesome reactions if you haven’t done any Queensrÿche yet check out Queensrÿche MTV unplugged the songs are The killing words and you will remember do you will not be disappointed!
Very cool, thank you!
And the compulsory Take hold of the flame... Geoff Tate is (also) one of the greatest singers in the genre.
Hundreds of concerts, to this day the best show I've ever seen was maiden. Second was as well go figure
