Mr mancave, I have just watched your auction vid and I have to say, I have laughed from start to finish, in a good way, I love your item commentary and as for mrs mancave....love it love it, love it, see you at work mrs mancave
24:26 Those lightbulbs are for a chrismas tree light chain. They connected in series to the mains. The voltage is anywhat abt. 13-14V /3W power. They are old fashioned. My mum got one when I was a child.
I have thoroughly enjoyed watching your channel, the heart, humour and opportunity to learn. Your idiosyncrasies make me laugh and your content always makes me feel happy and thank you!…….I am a virgin newbie to stationary engines and wonder if you would consider a Lister G1 suitable for a first purchase
Aw that's great to read David. I'm so pleased you enjoy the channel. I do try my best to keep the videos interesting and hopefully a bit of humour aswell. Thanks very much for watching. 😀
The phones with plugs is what you got back in the day if you wanted to have a phone in more than one room, I remember my grandparents having a phone with a plug like that and a socket in the hall and another in the bedroom, they would unplug the phone at night and take it upstairs and bring it down in the morning, this was in the late 50's early 60's. When BT wanted to update the plug to a modern one they went for their own design rather than use the already existing RJ 11 plug that was use in the US and other parts of the world. Those huge pop rivets are nails for a hilti nail gun. The saw looks like it has a metal cutting blade.
Well you two you had a good haul. Dad says that the wooden cone was used in old beer barrels after you had tapped them it was used in the top to let air in when you pulled a pint he thinks. If those sg's are not knock offs they could be worth a bit but they do suit Mrs. Mancave whatever. Have you ever tried Fakenham Auction? They used to have boxes and boxes of this sort of thing, but you used to have to buy quite a few to get the one you wanted as they would sell them in lots. We have not been since covid but it used to be very busy.
The long spring looks like the ones used on old television tubes to earth them. Old 4 pin telephone plug (GPO plan4) was used in 60's / 70's when phones were mostly pulse dial. Not sure if Mrs Man Cave is looking satisfied or horrified.
Those fibre washers ! Always short of those the right size , the pocket watch is unusual. Need to do some research on that iv seen some with British railways , Lms , gwr , , fibre washers ,
Wooden dowels are rawplugs for the fiftys and sixtys
Slinky spring looks like a replacement element.
Could you imagine ringing the emergency services on that phone 😁😁😁
