When the front office finally decided to get him a good O-Line, his body was already broken from years of abuse which forced him to retire way too early. We’ve wasted this man’s prime and it’s a damn shame because he was an elite QB.

Most underrated qb ever. I'm a Pat's fan but respected this guy. Everyone gave him crap cause he fumbled or couldn't win the big games but it's a team sport. His o-line was awful leading to most of his fumbles and he never had the players around him to be great. He finished his career as the most accurate passer at the time. Now he's in the broadcast booth and I think he's the best. He teaches the fans the x's and o's of football.

Die hard Dallas fan here. You are so so so correct. To do what he did with what he had to work with for most of his career is incredible. People focus on his early mistakes in his career and they keep that stigma attached to him. And no matter how well he played or how many 4th quarter comebacks he led, or how many times he made something out of nothing, he never outran that stigma or got credit for just how masterful he was at his craft. Nobody talks about his toughness either. The injuries he played through would put most people on bed rest probably. The lower back injury he played through I can only imagine the pain. (If you’ve ever had lower back injuries than you know). The broken ribs and punctured lung as well. It’s disgusting that a lot of people don’t respect what he did. Dude was a frikkin warrior.

Romo was never gonna get close to a super bowl and his gunslinging mentality got his career cut short. His best chance was 2007. He said it himself. Also, Packers probably woulda came back down the field and scored if Dez woulda caught it 2014. So the heartbreak woulda been the defense not stopping Rodgers like they didn’t 2016. But we coulda got a stop 2014 and they kept matching and got the final first down with ease. Proving my point that Rodgers woulda scored had we scored with the Dez no catch or got it I next play or two. Plenty of time left in the game when dez made the play

Dak is a great QB but when he first came into the league, Dez went from catching perfectly slotted touch passes to bullets over the middle. It's super hard to adjust to that. If he'd stayed healthy, I believe he would've adapted but when a guys biggest strengths are 50 balls and his physicality and the 50/50 balls were more like 70/30 balls with Romo's ability to place it vs what Dak had at the end of Dez's career being bullets almost every time. I'm entirely up to the idea of being wrong here but that seems like an incredibly difficult adjustment later in your career.

Patrick Crayton was solid too. Romo spread the ball around throughout his whole career.
That’s why T.O. wanted the ball more lol, but when it comes to players like T.O., they hinder the dynamic of the offense by pressuring to get the ball more.
You see the same thing with OBJ, DK Metcalf
It only works for Davante Adams since they have receivers that are specialists, Valdez-Scantling is a tall deep threat, Lazard is a physical receiver, and Cobb is an aging possession receiver. They have established roles so it works
Other than that, elite QBs spread the ball, and Romo certainly did that. He played with such poise, it was up there with Brady. Romo just played in a less adequate offensive scheme, but he still mastered it. He moved the chains on a consistent basis

Notice how the interior lineman like Gurode and Leonard played for years making 0 pro bowls, then when playing with Romo both start making pro bowl several years in a row. That's not a coincidence, they didn't suddenly upgrade after years of below average play. Its that Romo made them look alot better, because Romo had an insane ability to break tackles and spin out. So statistically it looked like they were doing a great job. But they really weren't.
Fredrick actually was great, Fredrick did not need Romo to make him look better. Then with Martin in 2014 was enough to change the entire oline. Because Romo finally had at least 2 interior lineman that could block. Made a huge difference.

That pressure of just lining up immediately after a play to keep the defense on their toes was always awesome to see he’d be down the field in like 30 secs 😂

I remember watching Romo and The Cowboys play The Colts with Payton Manning on TV and the Cowboys lost that game with a score of 49 to 50 something . It was a hell of a game. Romo was the best player on those Cowboys teams.. Real class act too. I think he has a legitimate shot at the hall of fame.

I went to that game. It was awesome in that stadium that day, until the last pick. It wasn't his fault, the lineman was blown off the ball and stepped on his foot as he passed the ball.

The Cowboys lost a lot of high scoring games when Tony Romo was the quarterback. He reminds me of that other gun slinger quarterback ,Brett Farve. Tony Romo is a hell of a play by play broadcaster too. He will tell you what play is coming before it happens. And Jim Nantz just lays back in the pocket and lets Tony do his thing. Kind of like Pat Summerall and John Madden..

Man that Saints game and fumble play was a heartbreaker. Look at Sensabaugh just jogging after the ball and pulling up at the end. Get your head in there!
