@@lolgeselle I feel that one way is to try to reinforce the role that we play as sonographers as it pertains to various studies and that is to remind our clinical students that we are to describe and not diagnose. Speaking from my own personal experience when I was an intern, my most difficult days at my site were when I encountered pathology in an exam and I would become immediately overwhelmed. Over time and speaking with some of the senior sonographers they would remind me of what my role was as a DMS and to remember my basics anytime that I felt overwhelmed.
@@1lottzI love this! You’re so right. I also think sonographers need to remember where they started because I think so many forget!!! Great way to communicate with the students for sure. Thanks for all that you do!
Hey Geselle, I am a baby doctor from India, currently enrolled in a government run Ultrasound training programme... How can I access some reliable USG learning resources online? We have access to a large number of Medicine, Pediatric, Surgical and OG patients , with over 200 sonograms an outpatient day. Also we have access to echocardiography clinic.
Thank you so much for sharing and also being so kind to students. I definitely feel like that is super important and a lot of clinical sites should advocate more for their students. I also have heard that it does take five years to fully be confident in your skills and abilities. I’m super excited to join the sonography team🎉🩵
Thank YOU for supporting and listening! You are so right clinical sites need to remember that everyone learns at different paces and needs a lot of help to become better each day! And truly it does take a while but you can be sure the confidence WILL come with time!!! Stay awesome!🎉
Clinical decision making as it relates to performing various studies or describing pathology is what makes new grads lack confidence.
I agree with this!!! How do you think we as sonographers can make it so we can instill more confidence during clinicals?
