Yesterday, I saw a picture of two Palestinian babies, one was a toddler and the other an infant. I looked away immediately but it's burned into my mind now. Today on my playlist this came up and I've been trying not to burst into tears for the last 3 or so hours. I feel utterly helpless but I can't fathom what so many must feel like having lost family that way.
It's eerie how relevant his music still is. Honestly more should listen to this. I am not sure what helps... and if this even stands chance of making a difference. But many of his songs, like Borders are, Empty Walls, Harakiri... all are soo right when it comes to the current state of the world... maybe share them with your friends, who also like his music... or would like it. My best friend had been in a bad accident with his work truck n comatose for 3 weeks, he's awake and in rehab now. Not able to talk because of a traech, but we played this song for him and he calmed right down and mouthed the words! A break through! He even was so calmed by it he fell asleep. Music you love never gets forgotten. Thanks to Serj Tankian and System, and even Scars on Broadway, he mouthed whole song of they say TOO! Progress we've yet to see. And thanks to his love of this music and ours, he remembers it totally. 2 weeks ago we didn't think he'd wake up. And then this! Awesome! Thank you!

i have been searching for this video for thirteen years. it’s one of my earliest memories, but i couldn’t remember what the song was or who it was by because i was so young. i just remembered a guy playing piano for kids at a daycare who were re-enacting a war. it’s so difficult to find!! this is a really weird day, it feels so strange to have finally found wtf it was. it must have been on mtv or something, i can just remember sitting on the floor in my mum’s front room and watching it
What a great song to describe the situation going on now. And with the children playing I see two things. American culture with the distillation of war since the time we were kids, like normalizing death over seas. Or like that these soldiers and people who are being killed were just once kids. It is also like kids could play like this here but in other parts of the world children don't have this play and actually live in fear 24/7. Anyway showing innocence to discuss a not innocent topic is pretty moving.

I first discovered this song at school on spotify. I'm a huge fan of System Of A Down, and I wanted to see some of Serj's songs and albums, along with albums from Daron Malakian's band. This song is one of my favorites, not just from Serj, but of all time. I love the song, and also the message behind it. It's nice Serj hides messages like this in all of his songs. Also, I love this music video, it's so deep and it screams WAR.
The look on Serj's face at the end of the video... the whole thing is powerful, always has been, but his EYES at the end really help it sink in all the way.

The irony of humanity is the cycle we choose. We claim that our children are the future, and hope that they can solve all the problems we've created. Then we indoctrinate them into violent religions, teach them to be bigoted and hateful, show them how to kill, and ship them off to wars to kill each other over our ideals. I wish I could change it, but I don't know how.

What a great song to describe the situation going on now. And with the children playing I see two things. American culture with the distillation of war since the time we were kids, like normalizing death over seas. Or like that these soldiers and people who are being killed were just once kids. It is also like kids could play like this here but in other parts of the world children don't have this play and actually live in fear 24/7. Anyway showing innocence to discuss a not innocent topic is pretty moving.

if those kids were that age when 9/11 happened they would have been in combat by the time this song came out, which is one of many reasons he used this decisions....and from behind those empty walls has many meanings but in the video the daycare has full height windows (empty walls) so he wants you to see what its like from inside that daycare looking at the funeral and he also wants you to BE LEFT in that daycare

I first discovered this song at school on spotify. I'm a huge fan of System Of A Down, and I wanted to see some of Serj's songs and albums, along with albums from Daron Malakian's band. This song is one of my favorites, not just from Serj, but of all time. I love the song, and also the message behind it. It's nice Serj hides messages like this in all of his songs.
Also, I love this music video, it's so deep and it screams WAR.
The look on Serj's face at the end of the video... the whole thing is powerful, always has been, but his EYES at the end really help it sink in all the way.
