For me all their videos give me two kind of reactions: adrenaline and happiness because this is the music who was with me in my hardest times, but sadness and nostalgia because his voice is not longer here, but as always the only way to revert some of their love is to support in whatever music they do now or any project, and remember him for all the love he expressed with his voice. My friend next door kept asking why I was staring at my screen blankly. When I told him what happened, I was told how it's just a band. Then I said how it's not just that.
How it is so much more. How I grew up on his music. How I did the countless assignments with his voice blaring through the earphones. How I planned to watch Linkin Park live, just once. And how I won't be able to do so, now.
Their music changed and took different shapes and forms, but I loved what they did. I loved the nostalgia associated with their music. I grew up listening to their music. Listening to Chester's voice.
From One Step Closer, his first official single for Linkin Park to the last track of One More Light, Sharp Edges.
We won't hear Chester's crooning again. Ever. Let that sink in. The guy who sang so many songs which hold a permanent spot in the playlist is gone. From Numb to Breaking The Habit to all the Transformer's tracks.
Watching Linkin Park live, watching Chester live, was one of the things I had on my bucket-list, and it makes me sad in the stomach that I won't be able to do it. Ever. I feel robbed of one of the once-in-a-lifetime things. As if someone snatched something from me.
I always waited for the credits to roll just to hear that one song by him. No Transformer movie will have his voice. Ever again.

Brathwate, thank you. In June 2011 I lost my fiance to cancer. He was 41. We loved Linkin Park. This band always has my heartfelt thanks. Their lyrics speak volumes that I couldn't put words to. Chester, you forever are in our hearts.

Everyone who is still struggling to come to grips with Chester's death, I suggest you listen to Leave Out All The Rest, because it's the perfect last goodbye message from him. The guy had been struggling with depression for YEARS. He KNEW this was how he was going to go out.
"I dreamed I was missing
You were so scared
But no one would listen
Cause no one else cared
After my dreaming
I woke with this fear
What am I leaving
When I'm done here?"
He had been dreaming about suicidal thoughts and contemplated the repercussions of his actions, about what he would have been leaving behind had he decided to go through with this. He tried to convey these feelings to others and we hadn't noticed, we didn't care. The other verses and bridges talk about how he's not as strong as you think he is on the surface, that inside he's broken beyond repair and is just bottling it up until eventually, nobody can save him from taking his own life. But it's the CHORUS that should be the focus:
"When my time comes
Forget the wrong that I've done
Help me leave behind some reasons to be missed
And don't resent me
And when you're feeling empty
Keep me in your memory
Leave out all the rest
Leave out all the rest"
Suicide is a morally selfish act. When you're depressed as Chester was, you're so fixated on your own pain that you don't consider what putting it end to it means to the people around you who love you. You're passing on that same pain to your family, friends, fans to find relief. He even addressed that in the first verse when he questioned what he would be leaving if he decided to end is pain, what legacy or feelings or pain is he transferring. Some may see the selfish act and resent Chester out of grief for leaving his loved ones and putting them through so much, even hating him.
So when Chester is ready to finally end it all, he asks one last thing to his family, friends and people that have been affected by his music: forget about the selfish act that he's taken, to please not hate him, to keep his memory alive and to focus on the good things he did, things that he will be missed for. For all the people who have been through similar struggles, the people he helped through his music, when you feel like you've lost it all, when you feel like your childhood has died, when you feel this intense sorrow, or even when you feel like Chester did during his final moments, he asks you not to make the same mistakes he did, leave out all the bad things they've heard and to remember that Chester will never die so long as he exists in your memory so you don't have to feel so sad.
Sitting here feeling sorry for myself now that one more light in the night sky has petered out isn't going to bring Chester back nor is it honoring his memory. Edit: I never thought anybody would like this comment so I just want to say this, I never cared about "famous" people dying, normally I deal with this stuff super fine, but this one messed me up, Linkin Park made me, since I was a kid I would listen hours and hours, they introduced me to music, so on the present everytime I listened to them I felt so nostalgic about those moments, I remembered that little kid, now it's like not just chester is gone, so Is my young me... We never expect this things, no one knows what other people are going through, I hope he rests in peace.
I miss the past, but we have to move on, life is tough but we have to live it, this happening opened even more my eyes to the "real world" I hope everyone takes something positive out of this and has a really happy life.
