At 5:23 I think it was, when Derek was filling the PS and seeing his hands beat up made me smile. So many of these big guys now don't work on their own stuff but seeing Derek with the mechanic hands is awesome.

Here is a thought Derek. I remember when you used to show on your videos at events you would give out the small hotwheels or matchbox cars. Talk to Matt over at Matts Off Road Recovery. He had some made like his tow rig. Find out how and have a bunch made like Independence. You could sell them in your store. Or give them out with merch and to kids at events. I think it would go over really well.

Hey Derek, Great Exciting Show! I've been a mechanic since the 70's and became a network engineer for Blue Cross Blue Shield in the WTC up until 911. I have seen 4 cars painted with the same theme and it melt's my heart every time. Independence being the fourth one with the 3rd one more then 15 yrs ago. Independence has a special place in my heart and would love to see her as a real tribute. Just as the person whom originally built her would have done it if they could have. The soul of independence should shine and remind us to "Never Forget"
Thank you Derek. Truly Thank you.

For those in less-humid parts of the country that are wondering why the power steering pump appears to be filled with Ovaltine, it's a thing in the Southeast: humidity, (water vapor) will mess up your fluids and eventually you have to completely suck them all out and replace with fresh. We all need to take a moment and appreciate what cleet has done to this track, it flooded total washout but yet the drainage held out enough to race 👍

I have followed your journey since 2018 have never been disappointed. Independence can now be preserved for memorial sake. Seeing you take it from a pile to a smile has been great. Congrats on 2nd place after all the troubles. You and Tony had a good run at it.

Man, seeing independence just freaking ripping it one more time really tugged on the heart strings. It's a sad but also very happy sight, I can't wait to see what's next. Hopefully even participate in a comp later

You did America proud not only with the burnout but with the racing too sad to see this day come for independence however much respect to you for knowing when to pull her before it's too late... can't wait to build the next one with you

Perhaps putting a smaller gm small block on the Chevelle and taking it to car shows you can show fans would be the best way to keep it alive. You can use that big motor in one of your old beater trucks. Love the channel Derek...

Honestly the burnout thing is entirely new to me, but the sound of that big block gave me goosebumps. Personally I have nothing to write home about but I have a ‘63 F350 dump truck with a 460 truck engine in it that I am going to try and use your plug-reading fu to sort out its running/idle mixture.
I’m enjoying this all a great deal.

You sir are a great man, not many people would got and try without power steering let alone the worry of more damage. You could hear it in your voice how you wanted to give the fans a show and a last run with independents but worried about wrecking it. Thank you again 🤟😎
