Sometimes diagnosing issues like no start can be confusing but by following the proper procedures you can narrow down the problem without spending a lot of time or money replacing unnecessary parts.

    Hey, i just saw your video and its not a bad video. I did notice a couple things wrong with this video. 1. you didn't check the oil level before cranking. the Maxxforce DT (not 466 DT) has issues with the oil system where not the right amount of oil would cause a no start. 2. ignoring the initial codes that the truck came in. codes are there to tell you there was an issue, I would recommend to start with the codes before doing any other diagnostics. 3. when using the laptop (ServiceMaxx/NEDS), you can tell a lot of what the truck is doing good and wrong. if you know how to read how much the minimum the pressures are supposed to have, then you will have not touched the fuel lines. removing unnecessary components to just later find out it was something simple is something the customer is not willing to pay. for educational purposes, this video is great. you show a good understanding of the fuel/HP oil system and knew to inspect the fuel strainer (since they do clog up and will cause issues). As for the ECM code, yeah, that is a battery/ECM power issue. International trucks are notorious for electrical issues and this ECM code is proof of it.
    However, there is something I cannot let go... and its that you didn't tell the customer to sell the truck and buy one with a Cummins in it, will save him a headache. (This one is a dealership meme)

      Nice information I have a maxxforce dt 9/10 year 2013 and the servicemaxx had been my friend to keep this truck running I still have to learn a lot stuff but at least my truck is still running

      You are not working on dt 466 mechanical that is dt 466E wich is completely different set-up!

    Nice and professional video. I was curious to know what you ended up finding?? Fuel delivery psi does not look like it was a concern. The psi you had was good enough for it to start. Not sure if it was the video sound, or if the engine actually sounded like it had low compression?? It sounded like it was turning over with little resistance. Either way, nice quality on the video.

    why not apply air pressure to the inlet from the high pressure line at the high pressure rail. If you hear air leaking threw the air intake means the o'ring has gone bad and you are losing oil pressure at the oil rail. You wont see alot of fuel when you pull the injectors. You have totally misunderstood how a high pressure oil pump works on the injectors. you need 2500 psi oil pressure just make the engine idle...oil pressure is what pushes the injector down to pump into the cylinder. the most you need for fuel pressure is 60 psi to run. The reason for the rise and fall of the fuel pressure is the release valve for fuel to return to the tank. That is not an issue.... next time check to see if you have a CMP sensor error. If the camshaft sensor goes bad , it wont start...

    I have a 4300 it won’t crank to start I didn’t let the gauge cycle I just stared the truck up instantly and it was about to start and half way stopped I got tech out and checked everything and nothing I got a spn 1081 fmi 9 code

    I open the timing cover in front of Engine T444e Internattional Engine ang Also the Socket off Sensor will remove After fix the Lines Of Sensor and the Timing Cover I start the Engine but Crank only not Start, mybe what is the Problem of this, Thank you Sir

    I’m responsible for maintaining 7 buses with DT 466 engines. What diagnostic software do you recommend? I would also like access to shop manuals. What about hardware. I run a MacBook, but it looks like I’ll need an android based tablet or laptop.

      I have a maxxforce dt 9/10 and I use a servicemaxx and is very good you need to get a regular laptop whit windows 7 and the nexiq connector and I can give you the information from a guy who install the programs in you laptop remotely

      Always check the fuse in the fuse box 1st.

      U need to know when your problem occurs, if its crank no start when truck is cold, usually your ipr is bad, if crank no start when warm, or if truck dies when u slow down at the light or stop sign, its usually icp related, could be bad icp or low oil, or oil leak at fuel rail or high pressure fuel/ oil rail.

      Also not bad to carry starting fluid in a dt466.
      Spray starting fluid see if it starts and dies right away or stays running

      Angel, thanks for watching, and be sure to subscribe. Troubleshooting can be difficult sometimes and yes, this issue was a tough one because of other work not done by our shop. We found out later the valves were out of adjustment so the engine had low compression. That is why it sounded like no compression during crank up. Next time we will be sure to share the solution.
