i was under a very tight time line to get the truck to my shop and remove the box. the buyer had already scheduled the time to pick the box up. added pressure and anger never helps me. its just a truck. if a man can build it, a man can fix it.
Wiring harness problems plague even new vehicles. Sister in law calls me late one night, she driving home and went over a railroad crossing and it all went dead. Engine, lights everything. I get her hood open and start feeling around on the harness connectors and Click!!, apparently the main power loop to all that kept it running was never tight to begin with. I asked her to start it, she did and it did like it never happened. The truck drove reliably for a couple of years till she sold it. And you may " not be a welder" but you still do admirable job of building it heavy and laying in a lot of good penatrion
I bought by 1995 international 4700 DT466 in Connecticut. People are so shady out there smh. Anyway, 2 years later got a new title for NY, a new box, radiator ,thermostat, fresh filter and oil change. Might change the water pump soon . Getting it ready to deliver everyday on long island. Very excited this is motivation
Missed you guys. Love all your videos. No b.s. I have learned a lot from watching you. You are the Dr. House ( from the show) of diagnosis....... Keep them coming.
I wish I had someone to teach me . But watching your channel I’m hoping to learn a thing or two. Thanks for taking the time and sharing your knowledge with us . I’m 10 months behind but I’m going back and looking through your International’s so maybe I can figure out what happened to my Bus . Keep the videos coming and thanks again.!
Hello JC. This video reminds me of a 69 Dodge Charger I bought where the tail lights were wired to the generator and only worked when the car was being driven. My father and I spent a few nights during the winter time rewriting the dash.
That’s a great fix J.C. I’ve always found it rewarding when fixing electrical problems. Even though it can be a hassle tracing down the single wire causing the problem it’s always satisfying getting things up and running again. Pretty low miles, should make a great work truck for someone👍. By the way I sent over an email the other day as you requested on the live stream yesterday.
That'll make a dandy dump truck. Under 26,000 gvw? Squirt brakes. Some landscaper can use that. Maybe one of those drop side landscaper dumps. 12 foot with low sides. Would also be cool with a Holmes 1200 Trooper with 60" or 72" ca. Always loved that size tow truck in short wheelbase.
I would look for and Clean all Major Grounds and inspect the Plug connectors. I spotted a lot of Rust corrosion on the frame and under hood. Also be suspect of holes poked in wire harnesses from test lights and in turn the copper wires green. I worked on those trucks at a IH truck dealer until 1986-2000. Probably still have the Electrical Diagrams Book for it in the Barn.
Have seen this before mine was the bulkhead plug was bad and a bad ground in the fuse box, would cause it to cut off and no start, the bad ground will make wild things happen.
Last night I knew I hadn't seen a jc Smith video in awhile then shortly afterwards I guess you posted now a second one man it's turned into a good video watching night
@@j.c.smithprojects hahaha young not so much over here lol. Definitely like the projects you do. Your always positive outlook and no bs way of working through stuff is informative. Hello J.C. I'd say start with cleaning the plugs going to the ecm...i've seen many of them with corrosion . Sometimes the o-rings shrink enough to allow water to get inside
Good evening, my dear friend. I am from Iraq and I work as an international car mechanic. I made a device of my own making to start the engine without a wheel
Yee Haw...! 2-videos in a week, so far...! Awesome...! Thank you sir. Well, gosh darn, it’s kinda hard to edit out wet seat of your pants... I thinking back to your earlier “live” feed, and you talking about getting old and memory issues, and just figured the wet seat of pants was part of that... I am 58yrs young, and feel your pain(s)... hahaha...
I am.having the same problem when i try to jump the ground the ecm fuse by the battery box and the one under the steering wheel keeps.blowing idk if i am jumping the wrong pin i have a 1996 international t444e 4700
I have a 98 International 7.6, I took off the fuel tank and washed it with water well. I connected the fuel hoses by mistake and gave it air pressure, then I corrected the error. I tried to start the truck. It never started. Can you explain to me the reason?
i have a friend who has good dump truck same out side relay problem lost Ground on same relay and yellow start relay glove box relay for start relay , on DT466 on 1997 4900 dump truck ,, out side relay firewall no ground on 97AH wirehas nothing ground -- or + test to wire
Hello Mrs JC. Nice skid steer operation. JC what type of drying filter do you use on your plasma cutter? Mine keeps blowing the o ring at around 90 psi so need a change.
Did you figure out your issue? I cab swapped my 99 4700 and I can get it to crank if I bypass starter relay. Just saw your video and confirmed I have no ground at my ecm relay. I’m assuming my issue is likely I didn’t plug something in fully or ground during swap.
found a corroded wire in the engine harness. cut out the damaged section. soldered in a new piece. deox compound and heat shrink. it starts great every time now.
Just like bus grease monkey bring the vehicle back to the road conditions so it lives long as not ready got the scrape yard yet and make it more fuel efficiency.
Love the Jerry Reed ring tone. Of the finest movies ever made
Thanks for video. I am amazed how calm you always are. The wife does an amazing job. You two are great team.

Hello Mrs JC. Nice skid steer operation. JC what type of drying filter do you use on your plasma cutter? Mine keeps blowing the o ring at around 90 psi so need a change.
i have dryers at the end of each hard line. they came from ingersol rand many years ago.
I just bought a 2000 4700. Where did you say you get your parts from?
Exactly how I feel
Is the humming something for the brake ? I've always wondered we had school busses like this....
electric back up for the hydro boost style brakes. if engine isnt running, the electric motor creates hydraulic pressure for power assist.

The ground comes from ECM to complete thr circuit
What ever happened to the international with the low oil pressure?
he is taking to a guy that that will do an engine swap cheap.
@@j.c.smithprojects but will he do it right like you would
once it goes somewhere else to be done, it isnt coming back here....
Is that D4700
Question what are doing with all these trucks.
i build them and sell them.
Which pin is the ground on the relay
look at the relay. it has a schematic on it.
@@j.c.smithprojects can the ground pin be jumped with electrical wire ? 1 end in the pin 1 end on nearest ground screw

in the relay connector

What happened to the project roll off International?
i will pick up on it again in the fall,
