For lack of a static grass applicator. Get a latex balloon, rub it on a polymer fabric, and hold it over the grass that's got sprinkled on the glue. 10 cent static grass applicator, fully reusable.
That is brilliant! I imagine the effectiveness of it would be very seasonal, at least where I live.
Gracias
My friends and I are making a war gaming board, and I've been looking into making trees, and after countless of videos, I think I finally found the video I want to use as main reference. Best results
Some people don't like [whatever] flock/foliage. Whatever. Use what works for you, and you like. I think these turned out super nice. Nice video
Thanks man! I was surprised the clump foliage worked as well as it did lol
As both a wargaming hobbyist and a professional woodland manager, these look just fantastic. Great work!
Thank you :) I do a lot of hiking in managed areas! It's always interesting to see how the forest changes over time.
Definitely coming back when I sculpt any tree detail, thank you ☺️🤗
You're welcome, Thanks for the support!
Really like the idea of twine/jute for branches, gonna have to steal that. Love the variety though, they turned out great.
Thanks! The jute / manila rope combo worked pretty well. I kinda want to add more jute vines:p
@@hauntswargaming I've seen people use super glue at intervals to keep it from unwinding, or dip in thinned pva.
Amazing terrain pieces I will give them a try!
I will not ignore that line. Dont tell me what to do
I forgot I was making equilateral triangles when I drew that line
@@hauntswargaming Well now its immortalized. When aliens go through old files, they will know you drew that line
Absolutely fantastic mate. I am definitely building this as well ;-). Great job.
Thanks man! It's definitely a great addition to the terrain collection :p
For some wargames these wouldn't be impassable, but perfect for some skirmish action! I love how dense they are!
This is spot on for me ... making a Witcher type game for my kids and thier gaming group. Going to use this straight away.
They are very Witcher-esque :p
Brilliant
Great looking trees! Love the rope fiber for branches idea, i will try that on my next batch.
Wow, you make some of the best looking terrain on youtube. Looking at some reference really is important. But you also just really get the colors and shapes right.
Those trees are awesome. Look very thick, wild over grown.
Hell yes! Been waiting for this one
Thanks for watching the video! Like, Sub, etc. Products used are linked in the description!
This video is what got me in to trying some DIY terrain. Wow did it cost a lot to get everything I needed, but now I can not stop. Had so much fun making these.
Awesome 😎 yeah, there are a lot of upfront costs for tools and materials, but once you get those out of the way it's not that expensive.
I think they look excellent
Thanks :)
A lot of good techniques in this one!
Thank you :)
They look so damn good! been looking around for different styles of trees. consider this method "borrowed indefinately". Keep the good stuff coming.
They look awesome!!! 😊
Thanks :)
@@hauntswargaming you are welcome
Those are some of the best trees I've seen yet. Well done!!!
As for the scenic spray glue: I've seen others spray the part with iso alcohol first, then spray it with glue. It helps to spread the glue more evenly and dry faster.
Thank you!
And I might try that next time. I think using some super glue to keep the clump foliage in place would have really helped too. The adhesive just wasn't cutting it once the clumps were waterlogged.
Flock can be brightened with bright green or yellow, I apply it with an airbrush or spray. You only apply paint from the top.
That sounds like a better method to me. I was thinking about doing that. Maybe in a future video I can try airbrushing the highlights.
These look really great.
Thank you :)
Great job! I’ll soon be making some forest terrain and was thinking of doing the “mini diorama” thing for each of the different pieces. This was really inspiring!
Thank you :)
I think they look amazing and give a nice feeling about the scene
❤ excellent work.
Thank you 😊
Sculptamold seems to be a touchy medium to work with, especially with MDF. When I mix any sort of paint or PVA with it, my MDF warps. When I use it by itself around 2:1 dry Sculptamold to water, I have no problems with warping. This sucks because any chips acquired during game play appear as white so I have to be especially sure to use something hard wearing to paint the cured Sculptamold. I do regularly use Sculptamold over unsealed and scored MDF for my Kings of War armies, for which I have produced dozens of such bases (and the bases I create are often large - upwards of 200mm wide).
Sculptamold is not supposed to shrink when curing so my best guess is any added acrylic paint or PVA is shrinking as the water evaporates, and Sculptamold has good adhesion characteristics so its causing the MDF to warp as a result.
The more I use it, The less inclined I am to buy more lol. I prefer to mix up some PVA and sand/stones/baking soda
I love Sculptamold, weird issues and all. I am going to try water miscible oils to color it next and see if that results in shrinkage and warping.
They look great :D
Thanks!
the trees are really beautiful thank you for this video!
Awesome trees ... Great ideas there !
Thanks!
These are stunning. Well done and thanks for sharing
You're welcome! Thanks for the support :)
These really came out well. Good job!
Thanks :)
Great video on the process. Looks awesome!
Thank you :)
Sweet looking trees.
Where are the space Lizardmen from?
Thanks! They're Saurian Starhost by OnePageRules.
I think the terrain pieces turned out very nice. How long did the project take?
The 2nd batch took like 4 days with drying time. If you're sculpting stumps or making wire armatures maybe 6-7 days.
Super cool video! I'm curious: Why did you go for Impassable forests? I'm used to everyone making them difficult.
Thanks! I wanted them to be really dense. I think mostly to avoid situations where models are being moved into really fiddly spots if that makes sense lol I might house rule that tanks can bulldose them, destroying the node.
He careful with mdf dust, it could be the next 'asbestos' issue. Could even be banned one day.
I use a respirator. 👍 Definitely don't want to breathe that in.
Absolutely amazing result. The best forest I have seen, most original and accurate too💪⚽👍
How do you store this?
It's in the video
