- In this video i will show you how i made my battle mat, very quickly and very cheap. It's a very easy build that anyone can do and it takes little to no time to make, build in the morning, play in the afternoon ;).

A quick tip: If you don't have or want to buy the spray paints, all of this can be done with a brush and regular acrylic craft paints as well. It just takes a lot longer, but it can be done.
How can I do it with a brush? New to the hobby, not sure the technique
@@belyy_rusky just paint it with a large flat brush you would use to paint the walls of your house. And you will need to give it a couple of coats. This will work just as good. Hope that helps, and welcome to the hobby 😉. Thanks for watching 🙏

I truly admire your approach to these projects.. Easy to follow, cheap and still very effective. That battlemat really comes to life with the buildings and terrain examples at the end of the video. Thank you very much mate, I am glad you enjoyed the video 😉. Yeah terrain makes it come to life. I looked around for fake cheap grasmats. Then found a site called matten-online.nl but there are a lot of different sites that sell these. I ordered mine in the Netherlands as it my neighbouring country. Look forward to do huge batrle reports on this as well. Already gor a Eternal Wardens big battle planned to play soon hehe.

Great mat! Would a light brush over the rocky bits with a brown or black wash work to add a bit more definition.
Thank you very much, glad you like it. Sure, it would work perfectly. I have a smaller mat on which I did that. I wanted this one to be quick and only use spray paint, I did end up using a but of paint but all in all,it was super quick. Thanks for watching 🙏

what is your general opinion on the primer spray can from action? would you use it for minis as well?
Thank you very much 🙏. The black one from action i use it all the time so that 1 is definitely good. The grey one, maybe if you spray from far enough and only Dust spray it, then yes, i think it is good, but if you plan to use contrast Paints I would advice against it honestly, though i did not use the grey primer (Improved quality) on a mini yet...something holds me back from using it haha. But the matt black one is solid 👍. Thanks for watching 😉

Looks really nice. Would the same strategy work to do a snow or winter mat, or would the base texture of the original grass mat not work?
Thank you very much. That's a good question, I was actually contemplating the same thing. It is on my to do list so I will definitely test it out. I think it all depends dq if you want to go full snow or want to have some grass or dit showing through. But i think it can be done. Definitely on my list to make 😉. Thanks for watching

I'm looking to make a 90 by 180 cm mat for Argatoria and I'm not going to drop €90+ euro's on one from Deep Cut Studio when Action sells fleece blankets for less than 10 🤪
And since we have one in Wijnegem Shopping Centre AND Pipoos on the same floor I can pick up a cheap-ish spraypaint or 2 at the same time 🙂
I have not tried it with a fleece but in theory it should work. I think with spraycans it would have the same effect as with this mat. Just mix the colors like I did here. Yeah the mats from deep cut are very cool but pricey. And I like to make stuff myself hehe. Let me know how It turned out 😉. I know the action in Wijnegem . I am from Antwerp myself 😁. I like this. What kind of turf/grass mat is this? I feel like too long of grass would seem ridiculous up against models; you seem to have found a good length.
Thank you very much mate. It is a simple fake grass mat. A simple dark green fabric. If you type fake Grass mats in Google you ´ll find them 😉. Hope that helps and thanks for watching 🙏

But if you look online for fake grasmat, 200x133 you will find them.

Not really a link, but if you type cheap fake grass mats you get a lot of the same results as the one I bought. Hope that helps and thanks for watching 👍.

No, but I think LIDL does sells them sometimes and action does too. Also hardware stores like Gamma, Hubo, Brico... also has them They are very cheap. Thanks for watching 🙏.
I already made a grass/snow battle mat using acrylic caulking but when I see that one in Lidl I am soooo tempted to buy it because it’s cheap and looks durable. Well done with yours, never thought about using thin cork for a battle mat. 👌

Also all my DnD tiles are also build, it the same mats and techniques but instead of spray cans I used regular craft paints. Hehe yeah Cork is an awesome material 😉👍
