Adam, love your patience. Small correction though, planets *can* survive "near" a black hole. If our sun was replaced with a one-solar-mass black hole, our orbit would not be perturbed. It's only within the event horizon, that nothing can escape. For example, the accretion disk may be visible.

As Sufis, we do not take literally what came to an illiterate community but take the moral and spiritual message in it, other scriptures, and books of wisdom by saints, philosophers, and scientists. The Muslims who debated here do not know what they are talking about. They are trying to cover up with all kinds of modern scientific theories. The message of Prophet Muhammad was never meant to be scientific to an uncivilized 7th-century community. As a Sufi, I would ask Elmasri to do his research toward finding the truth both with a scientific mind and with love. Al-Qurãn 21 Verse 30 mentions this 1400 years ago: ”Did the unbelievers (who do not accept the teaching of the Prophet) not realize that the heavens and the earth were one solid mass, then We tore them apart, and We made every living being out of water? Will they, then, not believe (that We created all this)” Al-Qurãn 65 Verse 12 also states this: “It is Allah Who has created seven heavens and of the earth the like thereof (i.e. seven). His Command descends between them (heavens and earth), that you may know that Allah has power over all things, and that Allah surrounds (comprehends) all things in (His) Knowledge.“ Al-Qurãn 51 Verse 47 states this: “We built the universe with ˹great˺ might, and We are certainly expanding ˹it˺.” Also read this: “an-Najm al-Thaqib” (the Galactic Nucleus Star-the Pierced-Hole), i.e., the so-called “black hole” is mentioned in Al-Qurãn (86:3) This Blackhole Star (West) is piercing thru 7 Heavens to reach Arsh (Throne) of Allah. The word "Sababa" = "pathways" or "the means to something"
It is NOT pathways to heaven or heavenly pathways. It just means pathway or the means you can take towards something. It can be used as pathways on earth or in the skys or even metphorical means towards a goal.
For example, Surat Al Baqara (#2) verse 166
وَتَقَطَّعَتْ بِهِمُ ٱلْأَسْبَابُ - Takata'at behem al-asbab
Translates as: The means that unites them will be cut off
Similarly, Surat Al Kahf talks about the means and pathways that Dul Qarnayn took on earth, were people and nations live and could be found.
Hello Adam!! Sababa is pathways to heaven. Al Tabari 837-923 AD mentions this meaning in his tafsir of Verse 18:85. You can check online.
حدثني يونس، قال: أخبرنا ابن وهب، قال: قال ابن زيد، في قوله ( فاتَّبَعَ سَبَبا ) قال: هذه الآن سبب الطرق (1) كما قال فرعون يَا هَامَانُ ابْنِ لِي صَرْحًا لَعَلِّي أَبْلُغُ الأَسْبَابَ * أَسْبَابَ السَّمَاوَاتِ قال: طرق السماوات.
Al-Qurãn 21 Verse 30 mentions this 1400 years ago:
”Did the unbelievers (who do not accept the teaching of the Prophet) not realize that the heavens and the earth were one solid mass, then We tore them apart, and We made every living being out of water? Will they, then, not believe (that We created all this)”
Al-Qurãn 65 Verse 12 also states this:
“It is Allah Who has created seven heavens and of the earth the like thereof (i.e. seven). His Command descends between them (heavens and earth), that you may know that Allah has power over all things, and that Allah surrounds (comprehends) all things in (His) Knowledge.“
Al-Qurãn 51 Verse 47 states this:
“We built the universe with ˹great˺ might, and We are certainly expanding ˹it˺.”
Also read this:
“an-Najm al-Thaqib” (the Galactic Nucleus Star-the Pierced-Hole), i.e., the so-called “black hole” is mentioned in Al-Qurãn (86:3)
This Blackhole Star (West) is piercing thru 7 Heavens to reach Arsh (Throne) of Allah.
BlackHole (At-Tariq from Al-Qurãn 86) are a different type of piercing stars (the Galactic Nucleus Star) which were created right after BigBang. Any sun/star wandering close to blackhole will be torn apart and will lose its luminosity. Sun material will keep collapsing thru WEST (Setting Place of Sun - Blackhole - Eye of Ra) traveling thru spacetime fabric of 7 heavens until reaches below Allah’s throne. It then falls in prostration and asks for permission to rise again at a different location via EAST pathway. Sun is granted permission and covered with luminosity and then rises from EAST (Rising Place of Sun/White hole).
Al-Qurãn in Surah Kahf 18:83 tells us about a person named Dhul Qarnayn (Amun RA) who did interstellar travels and observed both of these phenomenon happening in front of his eyes. He even interacted with interstellar beings at both of these locations. So according to this, White hole only opens up to let the sun back via East pathways heaven to heaven into our heaven and would disappear once the sun appears in our heaven. That is the reason we have not been able to locate white hole as it appears randomly and vanishes once the job is done. So only way to prove its existence is to look for NEW sun/star at a location (Globular Clusters) where it was not there initially. Dhul Q (Amun RA) is also responsible for telling Egyptians about the Eye of RA (Blackhole Star, At-Tariq). And Jews originated in Egypt and so this is how they knew about Dhul Qarnayn aka Amon RA.
Eye of RA from same time as Amon - Dhul Qarnayn is a depiction/picture of Blackhole with Gravitational Lensing, Accretion Disk, Relativistic Jet and Representation of Gravitational Pull Tendex Line. So it seems that Dhul Qarnayn taught/informed Egypitans about how blackhole looks like in reality. Eye of Ra = Blackhole Star - At-Tariq Galactic Nucleus Piercing Star(Surah 86:1-3) - Setting place of Sun - West. And Eye of Horus = Whitehole - Rising place of Sun - East. Blackhole and White hole symbols are also present on "Secret Seal of Prophet Solomon (PBUH)".

Muslims will go out of their way to "correctly" explain/interpret this verse for us, but, what is the point of this verse in the first place? What value does it hold in the "eternal" Quran that is supposed to be a guidance for all mankind and all time?! Allah never said that the sun set in muddy pool. Where did you get this from ? Allah said Appeared to Ⱬul-Qarnain that the sun set in muddy pool . For example if you are standing on the seashore watching the sunset . The sun appeared to you that the sun is sitting in the sea but it doesn't. If you are standing in the Desert watching the sunset. It appeared to you that the son is sitting in the desert or behind the Mountains.
