That looks easy, i think it's a good drill, however in sparring or real boxing fight (i dont know about mma) front-feet of both fighters are much closer to each other so you fight from different angle so you often need to adjust position or step in using front foot.
Hey buddy, the idea is that your counter is thrown out as the opponent's punch is returning - remember the opponent has to pull back the punch before he can throw another (even in combos) - additionally by pulling back, you're making your opponent reach - reaching is uncomfortable and makes you feel out of balance, hence making it harder for your opponent to flow into his combo as easily. In terms of mechanics, Think of it as you are effectively chasing the opponents return and hence crowding the centre line (If the centre line is occupied by your punch, it can't be occupied by any of your opponents straight punches). The trick to this punch is to reduce the delay as much as possible - this can be achieved through drilling :) Hope this helps!
I'm very happy to see ya'll back. Thanks for the drill.
I take a little step back with my rear leg without moving my lead leg and then i use my calf muscle to spring me back forward.
Where you guys go?!?
