The return of the LEG MUSCLES clip!
Which video is origin of thet clip?
@@markovidakovic671 it’s called How to end a fight in seconds
@@dan_long2379 ty
An all time classic
*"LEG MOUSCLES"*
never gets old
The lean-in deception (attack by drawing in JKD) is a great trick. Always great, common sense, potent stuff on this channel.
I love the sound at 0:50
Good timing, rhythm and fast physical reflexes are obviously key to this move/technique
You just need one of the three.
You had me at “Leg Muscle”!
Recently watched a Forgotten Weapons video on WW1 trench warfare melee weapons. I couldn’t help but imagine the Hard2hurt version of that video and how much cooler it would be with someone familiar with close quarters/self defense weapons. I would love to see Mike’s flashlight expertise applied to more historical but less “traditional martial arts” self defense weapons.
Tell em they need me on the show.
LEG MOSSLES!!!!
Next level: Don't even lean back, take the jab, at the same time throw your punch. Saves time and even closer distance!
The true brawler style
The good ol face block. You can gas out your opponent with it too!
Ippo style lol
Next level: anticipate their jab and precog counter-punch into their jab, breaking both your hands. The benefit is... uh... um.
When I was learning the pull back, I typically did take the step, instinctively. Or I used a shoulder roll with the pull back...after I learned the shoulder roll. And I'll practice both.
There's another version I learned through capoeira, where you pivot into a more balanced stance, and then pivot back.
Just always remember to pull before is too late 😏
Well, the last possible second is best, but it's safer to be early rather than late
Was this a whoosh? 😆
@@granddaddy_funk depends on how you read it 👀
@@hard2hurt The way you explain it at the 4:00 mark with the lean in is the way that Floyd Mayweather almost always does it. He gives you a target to hit and baits the jab so he can land the counter.
We're.... Uh.... Talking about boxing?
Right?
We like talking about our centers because it's the easiest and most broadly covering way of talking about leg work and balance.
If you always make sure to keep your center under you, your foot work and movement will less likely compromise your ability to strike.
Assuming you aren't at a Mc dojo, which in karate and Kung fu is a real heavy concern. Lol
The thumbnail looks like a Victorian era boxing manual. The actual clip not so much 🤣
Fisticuffs!
80 seconds in, Liking the video for the return of the king: LAIG MASCOLS!
I say it every day of my life. I need to say it in ever video.
When I lean back, I like to incorporate rolling of the lead shoulder too for extra protection, and to load my hips for the right hand.
However, I don't like leaning back most of the time. It's just not a good position to counter from. I'd take a slip-uppercut over a pull-uppercut any day of the week
Jared doing that look right as the video ends feels memeworthy
Quick, thorough and to the point!
Thanx & God bless y'all!🥊
Thanks for the great simple to understand concepts love it man thanks for the knowledge
Always fun listening to Jared
Leg muscle needs to be a shirt.
Shorts maybe
@@hard2hurt Shut up and take my money!
When I pull counter I step back with just my rear foot as I pull ,then as I counter I slip my head slightly off the center line while throwing my punch,(to avoid a head on collision with my opponents punch) then I sometimes roll under afterwards and step out. That way of pull countering I just explained works well for me when I don't have a reach advantage and keeps me from getting clipped especially as my head is coming forward as I punch. There is several ways to anything in boxing (I'm an amateur boxer for 13 years) that's what I love about the sweet science.
You can also shoulder roll as you pull for extra protection, but I'd rather pull with my hands up ,then slip as I spring my upper body forward with the counter. I counter with straight left or straight right hand. But when I slip I slip very slightly, just enough for a punch down the center to skin the side of my head. It's a game of inches not miles.
That's my experience and 2 cents,
Thank you and good pull technique on this video
Favorite channel and also got an awesome flashlight because of a review as a matter of fact
I’m one of those Karate guys with the center 🤣🤣🤣👍
And I learned a lot from this video too. Good stuff!
Great timing! I will have sparring session today. I will surely put it to testing. I do this leaning (or lean-in deception) instinctively but I have never trained it as such.
Yeah make it intentional
Me. I use the center. Or it uses me. Not sure.
Great Guys
I love that Jared used the old school "riding the jab" statement. Icy mike used this in street beefs several times!
Great vid !!!! Need to work on the step back !
big props on landing that part as the ahole boss in the new Adam Sandler movie hustle🤣🤣🤣
I just noticed how much you mention Street Fighter in your videos, lol. Was cool seeing that arcade machine in the garage video. Ever get into Arcade Sticks? Spent a pretty penny tricking out a Hitbox Cross Up. Arcade stick but with a D-Pad for extra movement and input options. Can flash store 14 or so profiles for different games. And you can change lever/button priority, or add a camera button for games like Breath of the Wild or the like.
We used the green stick on dreamcast... or custom Mas sticks in my day. I haven't revisited sticks since i became an adult.
1:09 Genius cut
Video on learning and following combinations faster and better in class? I always have trouble remembering the combinations in class even though they were taught 2 minutes ago
thumbnail is hilarious.
Best to study is holyfield, he doesnt lean back much almost stays upright but he steps back just to where the opponents glove is ever slightly touching his own face. Hes one of the best counterpunchers but def one of the best at pull counter
Lol I love when two people on Worldstar look exactly like 2 deers fighting for a doe LMFAO
Goddamn was I not the only one who had to rewind 5 times to hear "your leg muscle"
It is sweet, sweet sound.
The thumbnail lmfao
Worldstar!
THE LEG MOSEL!!!
Super important
That thumbnail 😂
little mac down special moment
World star!
One thing I'd add is, don't lean back a lot. If someone gets a read on you leaning back, they can anticipate and counter by dropping a fist right on your sternum, and then you're on the ground.
It doesn't work that way. It looks like that's a thing if you're just watching demos... but that's not what happens.
@@hard2hurt That, or I've done it before. Maybe the guy was doing it incorrectly, but I turned an elbow up, dipped my knees, and knocked him over backward. Since then, I started responding to backward-leaning defenses by just pushing in and hip-checking them, which is hilarious.
Regarding southpaw and conventional stances I tend to be left handed in fine motor skills and right handed and right legged in raw power. I tend to favor the right hander’s stance when sparing… It feels right and I suck at sparing. So I’m probably not a left handed conventional fighter 😜
I miss WS fight comps sooo much 😭😭😭
Thanks
Thank _you_
@@hard2hurt your welcome great content
is there any way to pull off the pull counter on WAY taller opponents? in my muay thai classes the other dudes are like a whole head taller than me. im 5 8 aka 173 cm btw.
I see the 'wrong' version of pullback alot in muay thai to evade head kicks, but I think that's more acceptable because if you miss a roundhouse to the head it takes you a moment to recover so it's kind of like a little reset in the fight alot of the time.
I’m sure the generally taller stance also makes a big difference~
The best pull counter is lerdsila and saenchi. They lean ridiculous far back to dodge kicks and counter quick.
I'm a dirty southpaw; does this technique change in an open stance?
Love when you and Jared collab; y'all got great chemistry
My advise would be watch Rigondeaux breakdowns. Just for understanding the angles.
Expert boxing got some good breakdowns.
Careful with your liver I can fight southpaw but dont do it for that reason because its always in front.
I’ve always been mesmerized by experienced coaches, both in Boxing and Muaythai, they always seemed to be able to connect from farther away than you expected.
Both of my coaches did that leaning in trick, but they always told me not to.
Is there a good reason to not lean in a little?
if you dont have a purpose you shouldnt lean
That's a pretty good answer actually. It's an experience thing... when you've moved from reacting to predicting, and then from predicting to forcing.
Thanks to both of you.
LEG MOSCLES IS BACK BABY
Never left!
to move with speed and power in a given direction, one must push off in the opposite direction. Sensei Ron calls it "buttressing" (as in the architectural feature... sicko's...)
If you're going to mention McGregor and pull counters, I feel like you have to mention McGregor vs Alvarez. Arguably not a pull since McGregor barely moves his head, but Alvarez's hand actually flattened the tip of McGregor's nose, that's how close it was. Then of course, McGregor countered with a hard left over the top. Gorgeous clip.
Conor had impeccable distance management
Naseem Hamed leaned back way more than Floyd Mayweather did. Floyd's pull counter was subtle, it was like a tiny half step backwards, mixing with rolling with the punches
Philly Shell + Pull Counter.
And some would pick on me for working the "tiniest move" to the thirteenth power. If a lot wasn't in the details, boxing wouldn't take years to get good at.
Can I send you video of me sparring, and can you give me any advice?
Not currently sorry.
im a total rookie but when i lean back i usally imidietly also do a kind of jump back ? I dunno, like a quick little jump using that lean to push myself back even more
If your only goal is to get away... sure. But in combat the idea is to also do damage.
@@hard2hurt yeah im too much of a nice guy in sparring and most of the time i just try to make other people not hit me 😂
can you do a video on hand fighting? I'd like to add it to my drill set but I'm not a wrestler.
lol me neither
@@hard2hurt exactly! Everything I see is for wrestlers, but you could do hand fighting for strikers. To counter those wrestly boys... maybe bring in Ed
2:02 coulda said james toney
Make the videos longer please
Jared is known as "The Quiet Storm" in the boxing world. his reach appears to be longer because he moves his feet closer with every strike.
My pull counter is competent. Its one technique Im proud of.
Some people have a knack for it.
Nice boxing shoes.
That's how you know I'm a real boxer.
👍
Leg!
Hey man I need my fix of Icy Mike action, I'm.begging.
the original pull counter, Ali vs Liston 2
Mike can you show us a rip and tear technique?
Umm... like what happens when i go for a run?
@@hard2hurt haha i was refering to the doom guy but yeah 🤣
Icicle micicle…i saw something the other day about pulling opposite side of ya body to punch more efficiently. It feels like BS but might work if you unlearn everything…idk. Seems like something you could explain
Huh
2:27 so what you’re telling me is I can punch with both hands.
Do it!
LEG Muscle!!!
You know it
Drive me nuts seeing a pro pull back, but doing so in a way that brings their chin up, so I appreciate some examples of how to use the technique in a way that is defensively responsible. However, I don't mind seeing an opponent pull back with their chin up in the sky, I just say "thank you, good sir."
Fucking UA-cam, gives me a ton of Hard to Hurt. Yet. Molton Friedman and Thomas Sowell vids I get next to nothing. Hell, if I accidentally tap a phone prompt and well did you know we can make 7-up popsicles?
leg muscles
suggestion for video: can you please check out "Tactical Combat System" channel and give us your personal opinion about the method he is teaching. would love to hear your insights about his channel and his method of self defense. thank you!
0:20 this how Anderson Silva got KO'd by Chris Weidman
i don't care about the technique shown in the video, i just wanna know what icy mike is doing for leg day.
Not much anymore... but it was squats.
@@hard2hurt thanks. bodyweight squats, or with weights? did you do anything in particular for the hammies?
Balrog?!🤯
🤜💥🤛
Like if you've been to the Golden Nugget
LMAO
Israel Adesanya pull the lean back and swing move quite a bit.
He can do it rather poorly and still make it work because he is an exceptional person.
Adesanya does this great.
Umm... actually no. He does it rather poorly very often... he is just very exceptional. I would not recommend mimicking him.
I’m one of those Karate using the center guys. 🤣🤣👍
Yeah all martial arts do that.
There's a reason this is just for boxing. Don't count on this too much for Muay Thai (just an FYI for those people).. you'll get swept like no other
Actually, I take this back. It could probably work for Muay Thai if its quick. But generally you don't want your legs too far forward for too long.
Yeah this is super wrong. Thai fighters pull out of the way of headkicks all the time.
@@hard2hurt True. My muay thai coach loves to sweep kick my front leg when it’s too far out from my body to remind me to stand taller. That’s what came to my mind when leaning back too much cause I know Thai fighters love finishing their combos with kicks and sweeping people. But I guess it’s not that relevant in this kind of situation? Idk lol I’m still learning and really new
if you ride a jab and counter with your left it's even faster.
I think pulling and countering with your lead hand has a place, but it is objectively an inferior choice in most ways.
Better option is just catch it counter jab if really want us lead hand if you are going through difficulty of making opponent miss and timing them then cross better option as video and most fighters demonstrate imo
Wait, so the secret to a good pull out is not being flat footed, having where to bounce back from and fall back as I see it comming?
Floyd might drop his hands but he never drops his defensive mentally
I enjoy hard to hurt... Self-defense for idiots... By idiots 😄☮️♥️
Teach an orangutan to pull counter and it's all over man.
Long arm gang
Jared has one hell of a reach.
first?
Third
There IS no right way according to my boxing coach. Doesn't want newbies to rely on it I guess. Also doesn't believe in throwing uppercuts to the face, which I think is a lot weirder
I also don't love teaching this to new people... probably for similar reasons to him, so I get it. The uppercut thing I also think I know what he's getting at but it is a bit weirder.
@@hard2hurt What is it that he's getting at? Cuz I have no idea. Even with the lead hand, only to the body
LOL Get a good boxer to help you bud. This guy isn't it.
This channel lost it…
Philly Shell + Pull Counter.
