Nintendo is that draconic of it's IPs. It's why it's ultimately the Big N who calls the shots when it comes to Smash, not Sakurai. Sakurai just makes the game. You can see why the Wii U was a disaster.

The Wonderful 101 is the living proof that the video game industry and its consumers are simply not ready for true greatness. It's too pure, too majestic, too wonderful for them. But they will learn, eventually. They will.
More than just a remaster for Switch, their stretch goals were for PS4 and I think PC, too. So once the Switch version is complete, expect those to eventually come if you don't want to buy it on that system for some reason.

I don't know how much of the original they're going to be building off of, but they probably won't be starting from scratch, so it's not quite as drastic. Also, they're designing it for the least powerful system first, so optimization to get it to run on other hardware shouldn't be as big of an issue.

Im glad the Nintendo all star game was rejected. Red is such a good character. And blue's character development is so well done, something you rarely see in games of this genera. The end result was so much more interesting than if Mario was the main character or whatever
I would say the same but I actually gave it another chance from the beginning and managed to enjoy it a LOT more. The key was in actually learning how the game works and plays rather than mashing my way through it

As a huge fan of shows like Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet, seeing this, Supermarionation style is quite awesome and I recognized it right away, I hope more people see it and appreciate it
I loved this game so much when i played it on the wiiu and was sad when my gamepad stop working so wasnt able to play it anymore, was one of the few games i would double dip on if it ever came to the switch, and also glad that it will comes to other platforms so others can experience it, trust me the game has lot content than you would have expected, tons of unlockables and crazy amount of replay-ability, this game is extremely underrated and has ton of charm and one of the best final boss battles ive had. Best believe im buying this game again

i do kinda wish nintendo would bring back the all star concept since i feel we need a nintendo crossover that isnt smash bros. and make an action rpg game using nintendos worlds and characters. despite that i really love this game, it really is a viewtiful joe 3.0(bayonetta's, jeanne, and rodin's appearnce in it is just like dante,trish, and vergils guest appearance in viewtiful joe, silvia is playable and friends with wonder pink and even joke about viewtiful joe 3.) and i would love it if kamiya had the wonder group alongside viewtiful joe and silvia appear in a game with bayonetta and dante since all those series are surprisingly tied together.

Funny how on the kickstarter page they put up posts going into the history of the game's conception, but they start way later in the timeline than this video. I guess Platinum wants to downplay W101's start as a Nintendo character all-star concept, as it's now spreading to other platforms, and Nintendo apparently doesn't view it as one of their exclusive properties at all in the end.

Now that is a game that needs a sequel. It is amazing, it's too bad that the Wii U wasn't strong enough for what it could have been. If it ever sees a sequel for the next gen like PS5 or something I could honestly see it being even more ambitious like a Wonderful 1001 instead of just 101.
And honestly, looking at Smash Ultimate, and comparing how many moves ALL the Unite Morphs in Wonderful 101 have compared to even just one fighters... I don't think it was impossible at all.

@Caio Coelho Splatoon also had a lot more marketing and was part of a more traditionally genre. If you look at Splatoon for a few seconds you can tell its a 3rd person shooter. Wonderful 101 is harder to understand by looking at gameplay.
I’m betting that Nintendo’s letting Platinum port the game to PS4 and PC because the game didn’t do well on the Wii U and the fact that many Switch owners also own either a PC or PS4. Also Nintendo keeps saying they don’t really see themselves competing with Sony and Microsoft.

I wish the game didn't make me physically ill every time I played it, otherwise I'd be more on board. Hopefully they can shiny it up or clean up the art style or faster segments to help people like me deal with that. I'm not surprised Nintendo let it go though, I mean ultimately why hold onto the IP if you're actually not going to do anything with it (the idea of any franchise being relegated to a costume or skin dlc only pursuit going forward for decades is painful to me)? At least it might have a second life now after years of being touted as an underrated gem by P*'s rabbid fanbase. I still would've way rather seen that idea with all of Nintendo's IP's though implemented, even if it removed a neat new IP in the process. That was such a cool concept reliant on probably the greatest strength Nintendo has to offer. I'll probably give this another try to see if the games improved in the ways I listed above though. I won't be surprised if it doesnt improve (Kamiya follows Mikami's idealist principle of dont fix mistakes but rather improve strengths) and I end up going back to the other more popular 101 style game, Pikmin, upon the franchises eventual release.
Lets be honest the only mistake this game had was came at the same time as GTA V, literally 2 days BEFORE Rockstar's game, and the poor marketing strategy, probably Nintendo saw this comming and let it die, but if the IP is still part of Nintendo, probably, they could use this as an oportunity to revive the IP and with the Switch selling even more we could have a sequel with better sales...Hopefully.
That'd be pretty funny if this was a way to build that audience, justify the initial expenditures on the originals release, and then when Platnium again cant fund a game Nintendo swoops in and just owns 2 for all time it sells well and they never let it go anywhere else.

Holy crap, I had no idea it met the kickstarter goal that fast, and I backed the damn thing, lol!
It also hit 4 stretch goals now lol. Steam version, PS4 version, time attack, and a 2D side-scrolling mode of sorts called “Luka’s First Mission”.
Can't wait to play this again.

And I doubt Nintendo had anything to do with tms port, it's basically just a big music ad that payed for itself because it sold tickets to concert and cds
Now that is a game that needs a sequel. It is amazing, it's too bad that the Wii U wasn't strong enough for what it could have been.
If it ever sees a sequel for the next gen like PS5 or something I could honestly see it being even more ambitious like a Wonderful 1001 instead of just 101.
I really hope this awesome game gets a second lease on life with this rerelease!

@Caio Coelho Splatoon also had a lot more marketing and was part of a more traditionally genre. If you look at Splatoon for a few seconds you can tell its a 3rd person shooter. Wonderful 101 is harder to understand by looking at gameplay.

I’m betting that Nintendo’s letting Platinum port the game to PS4 and PC because the game didn’t do well on the Wii U and the fact that many Switch owners also own either a PC or PS4. Also Nintendo keeps saying they don’t really see themselves competing with Sony and Microsoft.
I assume that plus Platinum had to promise a Switch port first and foremost

It's the original version of that character, which was cut. All of those images are from an official art collage of cut characters that Platinum themselves showed off.
I'll be honest, I didn't know this game was made by platinum games, but I very much enjoyed the game when it released in Wii U

I wish the game didn't make me physically ill every time I played it, otherwise I'd be more on board. Hopefully they can shiny it up or clean up the art style or faster segments to help people like me deal with that. I'm not surprised Nintendo let it go though, I mean ultimately why hold onto the IP if you're actually not going to do anything with it (the idea of any franchise being relegated to a costume or skin dlc only pursuit going forward for decades is painful to me)? At least it might have a second life now after years of being touted as an underrated gem by P*'s rabbid fanbase.
I still would've way rather seen that idea with all of Nintendo's IP's though implemented, even if it removed a neat new IP in the process. That was such a cool concept reliant on probably the greatest strength Nintendo has to offer. I'll probably give this another try to see if the games improved in the ways I listed above though. I won't be surprised if it doesnt improve (Kamiya follows Mikami's idealist principle of dont fix mistakes but rather improve strengths) and I end up going back to the other more popular 101 style game, Pikmin, upon the franchises eventual release.

Lets be honest the only mistake this game had was came at the same time as GTA V, literally 2 days BEFORE Rockstar's game, and the poor marketing strategy, probably Nintendo saw this comming and let it die, but if the IP is still part of Nintendo, probably, they could use this as an oportunity to revive the IP and with the Switch selling even more we could have a sequel with better sales...Hopefully.

That'd be pretty funny if this was a way to build that audience, justify the initial expenditures on the originals release, and then when Platnium again cant fund a game Nintendo swoops in and just owns 2 for all time it sells well and they never let it go anywhere else.
