    • @francisdasta8646
      @francisdasta8646 14 днів тому +15

      The college system is so much different than the NFL. The NFL is a salary cap league that favors good ownership and a top notch gm. College is based on recruiting great players and five star college quarterbacks get wooed by coaches who can surround them with four and five star players. The NFL has the best of the best players coming out of college. It seems like great college quarterbacks are a victim of their own success playing for winning high schools and colleges. They get all the hype coming out of school and get drafted high by bad teams. They get pushed into playing before they're ready and it ruins a lot of them. These guys have been winners all of their lives and the NFL is oftentimes their first taste of playing on a losing team.
      Let's try to put this another way. Trevor never played on a bad team until he got to the professional level. Patrick Mahomes didn't play for a powerhouse high school. He wasn't recruited by a powerhouse college. He played for a team with no NFL caliber talent and the 128th ranked defense. His college defense averaged giving up 42 points a game. Even though Mahomes didn't win a lot of games, he was the only thing that made his team competitive. Coming into the draft Mahomes didn't get too much hype, yet his talent caught the eye of Brett Veach who kept bugging Andy Reid to draft him. The Chiefs already had a solid quarterbacks and they were a playoff caliber team. They had the luxury to be able to let Mahomes sit behind Alex Smith for a year and Alex molded him into an NFL quarterback. Mahomes actually got a chance to play with a good team.
      I'm not saying it's everything but Mahomes came into the pros from a very mediocre college, was always playing from behind and he's a sick competitor

    As a Jags fan who has watched every game of his career...the problem with Trevor is that he does NOT inspire his teammates with belief that we always have a chance....he is very inconsistent...at times very inaccuarate...has bad pocket awareness...and other than that stretch in late 2022 when we all thought he got over the hump - the dude just does NOT come through late in games when we really need it...he is NOT a Clutch 4Q Game Winning qb. I am not saying he is a bust...I am saying that he does NOT play up to his draft status or contract....and yeah our line stinks and Playcalling is weird...but ALOT of Trevor's mistakes are ON HIM. He is slightly above average in my opinion...with streaks of lousy play and streaks of good play...and will NEVER be elite until he starts WINNING games at the end...dude almost NEVER plays above the game situation at the time.

Weather its having the worst combined staff and roster maybe ever as a rookie entering the NFL, or having the worst D 2 years in a row, or leading the NFL in points lost on drops every single year he's been in the league by an absolute mile every year(and no its not even remotely close). He should have 14 TDs this year, but instead he has 9. And despite everyone saying he cant throw, he grades out as the best deep ball thrower in the NFL 3 years in a row.

    Where you go is also key to success and performance the jags like many teams have had problems developing QBs

    I think it’s his offensive coordinator. They are loaded with talent. I’m a bills fan and when I watched the All-22 of the bills jags game, the offense is so basic it’s sad. The wideouts can’t get schemed open. The line doesn’t block. Its vanilla and elementary. It’s just ugly. You have etienne, bigsby, engram, Kirk, Davis, and that rookie Brian Thomas Jr is clearly the real deal. And Trevor is a good QB. They have one of the best wide receiver coach and one of the best rb coach in the game. But Doug Peterson and press Taylor’s offense is flat. So flat.

    Growing up I realized some time in the 2010s that number 1 picks are rarely generational talents and rarely even close .In nfl Trevor Lawrence was a great example of this where it felt like they told us he’d be the number 1 pick since he was in high school and it seems like they made sure their media projections would come through. I saw the same thing with Zion Williamson in the nba both extremely over rated and have yet to live up to a 1/4 of the hype. It seems as if the media is deciding who to tell us is good and we should believe it no matter what we see, sad part is all that media support goes blank once they do make it to the leagues.

    There are a ton of great quarterbacks, particularly with the rule changes that protect them so much. Lawrence is somewhere between the 10th and 20th best quarterback in the NFL- top .001% of the sport. Mahomes, Allen, Hurts, Goff, Burrow, Lamar, Dak, Herbert, Cousins, Mayfield, Love, Rodgers... Young guys are great too. The Jaguars already almost have sufficient quarterback play to win a Superbowl, they need a better overall roster and better coaching.

    It has a lot to do with the coaching he received at Clemson. He had natural talent but was woefully unprepared for the struggles of playing in the NFL. Expectations far exceeded his ability to deliver and it destroyed him. Too much money, not enough internal grit and not enough experience in overcoming adversity and not enough desire to beat the crap out of the opposing team. He's like scores of exceptional talent in HS and college where they excelled with few adversities and did not develop the gritty killer instinct needed to play in the NFL.

I know that he is known for his bad awareness, overthrowing, and clutch, but there’s so much to go about with this. Pres Taylor has been the main reason our season has been falling apart with these play calling and our O-Line needs a serious rebuild and sometimes his WRs drop very crucial passes.. • @CBrown
    @CBrown 13 днів тому +1

    Nothing happened to him. He was just overrated. It's not that he was a bad college player, he clearly wasn't but the difficulty in transition to the pro leagues is often underrated and it's incredibly difficult, if not impossible, to determine who will excel in that transition. This is why a guy like Lamar Jackson can go 32nd and be markedly better than all 4 of the QBs selected in front of him. Baker has held up well and Sam Darnold is having a bit of a resurgence but the miss on Lamar is evident. It's even worse when you look at Tom Brady or even Brock Purdy who, while having a down year, is still having a better year as a passer than Patrick Mahomes; that is to say that he's better so far than his draft position would otherwise indicate.
    College performance is about the best metric you can go on, so it's not like guys are reaching for the likes of Trevor Lawrence or Caleb Williams, but the hype needs to be toned down when it comes to rookies [in all sports]. If Lawrence was picked #1 but the expectations were more balanced he might actually be better. Instead, I feel like he's trying too hard to live up to what were unrealistic expectations and instead of being more measured and allowed to develop he's thrown out there as if he's a veteran coming in to save a franchise.

    Trevor gets let down by his team more then any other QB. His WRs have sucked for 4 years BTJ is good but it's hard to rely on one guy. Gabe Davis is selling every offensive drive and T-Law needs to score 20+ points each game cause his defense sucks.
