Except that however truly great he is, tjere are others who are stiff competition. Was he supposed to be MVP in place of Rodgers, Lamar Jackson, or Mahomes?
@ 2020 I think Allen should have won but I get why Rodgers won. 2021 Rodgers won because he had 4 ints. 2022 Mahomes threw for 5300 yards almost so I get why even though their stats were pretty close. That was the year Allen had the elbow injury so he stopped throwing the ball as much. I think last year he was robbed though. Lamar had the weakest MVP year in decades and won. Look at the stats and advanced stats it clearly shows who the best player was. In reality they just gave it to the guy on the best team and #1 seed. But this year they are trying to throw the narrative out the window of the “stats don’t matter” because Lamar is playing great this year but isn’t the #1 seed lol. I just think if anyone averaged 43 tds 14 ints 4385 passing 618 rushing year in and year out they would be MVP least once and have some APs. He’s averaged Lamar’s 2019 mvp year the last 4 years for example.
IMHO I don’t think the Bills would’ve entertained any offers unless it was significant enough. Their eyes were set on Allen and Allen only. And THANK GOD for that!
It depends on what coaching staff that had him. Allen was a meh quarterback his first 2 seasons. But the Bills staff literally scrapped entirely on how Josh throws a football through advanced assessment between years 2 to 3. And Josh put in the work to adapt to this new method for him, which rewarded him in leveling up his ability to throw a football dramatically and was blowing teams out of the water in year 3.
JA was throwing just over 50 percent in college and his accuracy still is rough at times...make him move to this left and he reverts. He still forgets his footwork in big spots, often taking his drop and setting his feet for first read and then leaving them there. Typically, after all the drills in the off season and training camp, he does better Aug-Nov and about this time of year, starts turning it over again. However, he hasn't done it this year yet. Doubt any of that? Search 4th quarter come backs and look at them by month, look at game winning drives and break them out by month.
The best thing to happen for Allen is the trading of Diggs and Davis. Playing the short game allows him to utilize all the Bills receivers and has cut down on interceptions.
All these people were big mad about drafting him definitely did live through the drought. After 2 decades of losing I was open for anything. But under new ownership and a whole front office, I knew it was a time for change and they were serious about winning
It’s been said that multiple teams were interested in Allen during the draft, including the Seahawks. Carroll said no and wanted to stick with Russell. Thanks Pete!
As a Bills fan, it's funny seeing how Buffalo fans dismissed him when he was selected. That's why scouts have the job of finding these guys. After so many down years in Buffalo, Josh Allen emerged to get my attention when I started hearing about his skills (I wasn't watching a whole lot because we quite frankly sucked.). What a find. I hope he can do what Brady did by delivering a championship being selected with no fanfare.
Bills were the perfect fit for Allen. The time and care the coaching staff and especially qb cosches were unrivaled and knew how to polish the gem Josh Allen was. Jets and Browns would have turned Josh into a qb we would have forgotten about 3 years in. And unlike qbs like Geno or Sam, Josh would've mossed his prime days as a running qb if he even got to transfer to a better situation after 4-5 years
Baker and Darnold are proof that sometimes its not the player but the orginization. This is interesting look at it. Considering the players in front are still in the league, and are playing well, maybe not Allen level, but they are still solid.
Here's an example of work ethic Josh worked hard to become a great quarterback. It's no surprise that players that comes from smaller markets have to prove that they belong in the NFL. Players like Tom Brady 2nd round draft pick Patrick Malhomes Josh Allen all had to work hard to become great players.
The Bills badly mismanaged the roster his rookie season. They started Nathan Peterman week 1 who threw 132 INTs that game. They decided to start Allen week 2 when he was absolutely not ready to play. Bills were very lucky they didn’t ruin him.
I've been a Browns fan since the Kardiac Kids. At the time of this draft, I was hoping that Browns would take Allen. I figured he is what they needed. I was annoyed at their choice to take Mayfield.... not that I didn't think he could play.. but I didn't see it as a fit, in terms of attitude and disposition. Now... After seeing how things have unfolded since, I'm glad they didn't take Allen... the organization has been so broken they probably would have screwed up Allen's first few years anyway and made personnel mistakes anyway that wouldn't compliment Allen. So yeah.... good on Allen..... I wish him the best.
Having seen the Bills fans reactions to taking him at 7, can only imagine the Browns tragics if they had taken him 1 or even 4. Thought it was a pretty fair review, acknowledging too why Indianapolis wouldn't have been interested. If anybody stuffed up. maybe Elway at the Broncos (and not for the first or last time).
I do blame the Giants for taking Barkley. They had a washed veteran QB and they were picking second in a strong QB class. That’s the perfect time to select a project guy you can sit behind your veteran for a year or two while he polishes his craft.
he's the best "unknown" draft pick probably ever. TB12 wasn't unknown he came out of Michigan where he did have primetime moments there. He just didn't go high. Josh literally came out of nowhere and he's dogwalking the league.
Gotta remember Mayfields play suffered because to decided to play through a torn labrum. This is why the browns are cursed. They treated a player who sacrificed himself for his team and they shit on him.
Seems that was a loaded draft class, and all those teams selected pretty well - no real busts among those 6. Allen was a QB that needed some development, and I highly doubt either the Browns or Jets would have delivered that; they are franchises where young QBs go to die. Going to those places he may have ended up with just the career Baker and Sam had, and possibly worse.
Allen rookie year wasn't that bad he had no wrs or te shady on his last leg bad o-line and still went 5-5 as a starter in games he started & finish i knew allen had in his 1st official start vs the Vikings
Let me be clear not all the Bills fans were upset about drafting him. Those fans you seen in that video were likely the side of Bills Mafia who wanted Nathan Peterman to be the Quarterback. There was division in Bills Mafia back then… what happened? Peterman threw 4 interceptions in his first game… let me actually fix that… 4 interceptions in the first HALF of his first game so that side of the Mafia had food on their face. And what’s even crazier they still pushed for Peterman who is by far the worst in game qb I have personally ever seen. And yet they still thought he was the better option… crazy. And these were also likely the fans who truly wanted to trade him last season mid way through even though he literally was scoring ALL of the points we had. Some fans are so idiotic but I feel like that every team has there fools.
I would still take Baker first based on scouting and estimates. Problem is Cleveland is worst place for any QB. So Lamar and Josh Allen probably would been a bust if playing for the Browns. Saquon Barkley has been MVP level when healthy. And with Eagles he probably too contender with Josh Allen as MVP for season. I was never high on Sam Darnold, but he has been solid, but much better in Minnesota, definitely would have chosen Josh Allen at 3. So it felt pretty good spot for Josh Allen to get picked at 7. Like Big Ben.
My favorite part about Bills fans convincing themselves that Josh was robbed of the MVP last year is that he didn’t finish second. Or third… or fourth. He finished fifth. You can argue all you want that Lamar didn’t deserve it (he did), but all you’re really saying is it should’ve gone to Dak lol
@@Jp-do9ny And Dak had more passing yards, touchdowns, half as many interceptions, and more wins than Allen. Again, you can argue that stats should’ve played a bigger role, but that doesn’t help the argument that Allen should’ve won it
Mayfield was more pro ready than Allen, but Mayfield didn't have nearly as much of a ceiling. He wasn't seen as an on-field leader, either, and the Browns eventually unloaded him because they needed "an adult in the room". Going to the Browns where he seemingly had a different coaching staff every year would have ruined even the *best* QB prospect. Barkley is a solid running back, but the Giants desperately needed a QB to take over for Eli Manning. They mistakenly thought that Manning could still take them to the playoffs and that Barkley would be the missing piece to their puzzle. They have paid *dearly* for that mistake by reaching for Daniel Jones in a subsequent draft, and he is now a boat anchor on that organization after badly overpaying him when he shouldn't even be a starting QB. Overpaying for Jones prevented them from retaining Barkley. Darnold was a "can't miss" QB prospect, but the Jets (incorrectly) assumed that drafting a QB would solve all of their problems. They did absolutely *nothing* to add talent around him on offense, and -- like the Browns -- they went through several coaching changes which gave Darnold conflicting messages and screwed up his development. After picking Mayfield, the Browns weren't going to spend a second pick on a QB, so they picked a CB, Ward. He's had a pretty good career, so this has been a reasonable pick. Chubb has been a good DE despite his injuries, but this seemed like a no-brainer for a QB-needy team to pick Allen, especially when he had played college in nearby Wyoming. He would have been an instant hero there. Instead, they've muddled along with Keenum and a variety of bad QBs for the past several years. The Colts still had Luck and had no idea that he would retire the following year, so they picked one of the best interior OL prospects that has come along in many years. They had no need for a QB at the time. This left Tampa on the clock, and they were still hoping Winston would develop into a long-term starter, so they were willing to trade the pick. This gave the Bills the opportunity they needed to move up and select Allen.
Gettleman was a poor GM for the Giants, and yeah, not drafting Josh Allen is an example. But the Giants had many needs, and fixing the run game before drafting a new qb is a good philosophy. Sometimes young qb's get ruined because the pressure and expectations are high, but they dont have the support to help them early. They signed Solder and drafted Will Hernandez to support a new qb, which obviously didn't work out. But the idea wasn't terrible.
Nice video for sure but Allen's development wasn't lucky and had everything to do with the organization and his offseason work with throwing mechanics, something players like Cam Newton never fixed. You can't tell me that if the Jets or Browns drafted him that he'd be where he's at right now. He might not even be a starter or in the league and likely wouldn't have had the leash that the Bills gave him to develop in the first place.
Josh's working off-season with QB gurus has shown he wants to learn & refine his craft. I saw his Combine, & told my sons he would be ours. They scoffed. But not now, lol. That dude works hard & studies.❤
@@bherylkuebler986 I think some Bills fans take the front office for granted, so many organizations are complete dumpster fires with no end in sight. I think our scouting is up there.

You left out Baker regressed in Cleveland due to a torn labrum and played anyways. There was drama with a receiver! In his time in Cleveland he had 4 head coaches and new offensive coordinators. No stability! Carolina was a Sh_t show. Only QB who faced that kind of BS was Darnold who also was in the sh_t show of Carolina. Now both are doing well.
Not for nothin, but when I saw him in first preseason game, (Cincinnati?) I said to my son, “this kid is the real deal”. Full disclosure; I’m far from being an NFL expert! Lol
none of these guys, regardless of position is as valuable as JA17. you need a good to great QB to even attempt to win it all, theyre so rare, doesnt matter if a G is the best guard in the league, top 3 QB trumps that.
Buffalo was a right place, right time scenario. I guarantee Cleveland, NYJ, NYG, and Denver would have killed his career before it really started. Depriving us all of the entertaining greatness we get to enjoy today. Dude deserves a gold jacket already imo despite no MVP or SB wins yet.
I dont blame the Browns for picking Baker Mayfield. I blame the Browns for not keeping Baker Mayfield.
I blame the Browns for playing Baker through injury in 2021. They should have sacrificed that season for long term success.
My gut feeling is that Baker needed to leave to become a better person and player.

Since the start of 2020 he’s averaged 43 tds 14 ints year in and year out. The fact he not only has not won at least one MVP or been selected to more than one AP is a joke.
Actually love this video. Mayfield also having a great year
Im a Bills fans and I remember hoping we would draft Lamar but was excited to see what Allen could do
IMHO I don’t think the Bills would’ve entertained any offers unless it was significant enough.
And Josh put in the work to adapt to this new method for him, which rewarded him in leveling up his ability to throw a football dramatically and was blowing teams out of the water in year 3.
baker was not a bad qb on the browns he was a great qb and extremely underrated
My GOAT!
Remember kids, a lot of it has to do with coaching. If Josh was taken in picks 1-6 there is no telling if he would turn into a superstar or not.
* Stefon -Diggs- Diva
As a Steeler fan, I can’t express to you how happy I am that the Browns decided Baker Mayfield wouldn’t be their franchise QB
Josh Allen is a beast
And unlike qbs like Geno or Sam, Josh would've mossed his prime days as a running qb if he even got to transfer to a better situation after 4-5 years
I thought Allen and Darnold were 1A and 1b that year, in no particular order. Both look great this season.
Great video. Go Bills!
the real question is what happened to the 31 players drafted before Lamar Jackson
I wish the so called Bills fans that weren’t happy would be thrown out of Bills Mafia
The Bills badly mismanaged the roster his rookie season. They started Nathan Peterman week 1 who threw 132 INTs that game. They decided to start Allen week 2 when he was absolutely not ready to play. Bills were very lucky they didn’t ruin him.
Honestly I think the whole "seeing ghosts" making Sam Darnold the joke was a little unfair. That shit is definitely on the o-line.
People hating on him young.....as a wyoming resident, you're blind
Having seen the Bills fans reactions to taking him at 7, can only imagine the Browns tragics if they had taken him 1 or even 4. Thought it was a pretty fair review, acknowledging too why Indianapolis wouldn't have been interested. If anybody stuffed up. maybe Elway at the Broncos (and not for the first or last time).
Whose here after barkley hit the backwards hurdle
Nobody😂
I do blame the Giants for taking Barkley. They had a washed veteran QB and they were picking second in a strong QB class. That’s the perfect time to select a project guy you can sit behind your veteran for a year or two while he polishes his craft.
He couldn’t even get a division 1 scholarship offer in California, that’s how screwed up it all is.
You left out an extremely important fact: Buffalo had coaches to help him grow. Cleveland and NYJ didn't.
he's the best "unknown" draft pick probably ever. TB12 wasn't unknown he came out of Michigan where he did have primetime moments there. He just didn't go high. Josh literally came out of nowhere and he's dogwalking the league.
Video Idea: "What Happened To The 261 Players Drafted Before Brock Purdy?"
12:10 dam Darnold😂
I was happy when we drafted him 🤷🏾♂️ GO 🦬‼️
lol Panthers traded for 2 of these guys...probably hoping Josh's career tanks so they can get him too
It's not like Allen has ever won anything in his career
Not a Panthers fan but they’ve been to 2 Super Bowls this century.
Bills? Allen?
Crickets.
@@jogendron6320 well a century is quite a long time...Bills made the super bowl 4 straight years...won as many as the Panthers did lol
I love listening to Tom Brady talk about big JA
The worst part for giants fans is Saquan wanted to stay with them but they payed daniel jones
Like Michael Jordan going 3rd - Hakeem Olajuwon at 1 wasn't bad but Sam Bowie 2nd is a particularly massive bust by comparison
Correction...one of the best QBs in NFL history. If he retired tomorrow, he's a first ballot HOFer already.
Barkley is killing it in Philadelphia. Why wasn't that mentioned?
They did.
It looks like every player except one, taken before Josh Allen is no longer on the team that drafted them.
90% on the teams and not the player.
The dude is LEGIT!!!
Real Bills fans don’t give a shit about the MVP award (which is just based on who has better stats). We want a Lombardi! So does 17!
That's because awards are determined by the media. Allen was better in every metric than Lamar except interceptions
@@Jp-do9ny And Dak had more passing yards, touchdowns, half as many interceptions, and more wins than Allen. Again, you can argue that stats should’ve played a bigger role, but that doesn’t help the argument that Allen should’ve won it
Lamar didnt deserve MVP, CMC did.
But through 9 weeks this year Lamar should win MVP unanimously
Saquon is having his best year
Mayfield was more pro ready than Allen, but Mayfield didn't have nearly as much of a ceiling.
Oh,and I agree that the Bills Organization has been hugely instrumental in Josh being sooo good.
@@bherylkuebler986 I think some Bills fans take the front office for granted, so many organizations are complete dumpster fires with no end in sight. I think our scouting is up there.
um lamar jackson is the best qb in this draft class by a mile
You should find the guy on the video that was mad LOL
The Browns moved on from Baker after he took them to the playoffs. The Browns ownership should be forced to sell the team.
Nelson might be the best guard ever
If the shoe was on the other foot and Josh Allen was dropped off in Kansas City guaranteed they would have won 6 super bowls ina row josh got thrown in to a rebuild and still did amazing shit wnd and still is he deserves MVP for the past few years Patrick had everything he needed and has a great coach 👍🏿
Sounds like the Panthers will take pretty much any QB
I'm the biggest KC Chiefs you'll ever meet. That playoff game with the Chiefs, bad callls made me cringe.
That 13 second game was heartbreaking...but also one of the best games. That, and the nearly perfect game against the Patriots. Darn good football.
Browns woulda blame Allen for having a losing season, benched him, then trade him for a puffy jacket and some hand warmers 💀 Jets woulda just released him into the wild like a lvl 3 Pidgey 😆 Bills the only franchise that would do right by him. Remember Allen’s first year was a year with a terrible record
I’m a bills fan but I think that if baker was developed by the bills he would have been better
Do Jalen hurts next
I said it back then, the Browns should have taken Barkley and then Allen.
If he was such a great pick why did they wait unti the 7th round to pick him?
Probably because no one wanted to move down.
Josh Allen is the worst thing to ever happen to John Elway
He sometimes reminds me of Elway, too.
When he threw one interception bro the bills made mahoms have 3 interceptions
Not for nothin, but when I saw him in first preseason game, (Cincinnati?) I said to my son, “this kid is the real deal”. Full disclosure; I’m far from being an NFL expert! Lol
Do one but with Lamar
none of these guys, regardless of position is as valuable as JA17. you need a good to great QB to even attempt to win it all, theyre so rare, doesnt matter if a G is the best guard in the league, top 3 QB trumps that.
It's almost impossible to succeed in a trash organization...not fair to young players
😂😂😂😂😂😂🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
What Happened To The 31 Players Drafted Before 2-Time NFL MVP Lamar Jackson?
Hint: Josh Allen was one of them.
