- Learn how to install a new Lowrance HDS12 Pro and a Live Target 2! I show how to wire the live target and mount the black box by laying it all out and making sure you can get the wires thru. After checking if you can get the wires thru then I mounted the box. Then because this boat has a Minnekota Ultrex trolling motor, I install a Lowrance HDI transducer instead of the 3 in 1 transducer. After you get the HDS mounted and the black box, I’ll show you what to do to make them work, checking the software and restoring defaults when you first turn them on.

Would it be better to put a fuse bus in, so that you can put all your electronics on it? With 8 gauge you could do that, I think it would carry the load.

Thanks for the video! So you have separate batteries running imaging than your crank battery and trolling motor battery? We are looking at this system, but not sure if it could run solely off the 2 battery setup, or if we will need to plan to put another battery system.
Depends if your running lithium batteries. If your running acid batteries and have two in series for the trolling motor you can tap off one for your electronics n imaging. I went to lithium and I run one 36V just for trolling motor and a 12V just for electronics. I did video on setting up system and you can watch it

Could you put switch on power to module. I am building an ice fishing unit and want to be able to turn module if just using 2d sonar.
Yes I use resetable breakers on all the boxes I install so when not using I turn off power to box.
Great vid. But I didn't think you needed the black box module (S3100?) to use the Active target 2 transducer with the HDS Pro?
The black box will give you fish reveal in side imaging. With the new HDS Pro in DI n SI its runs in new higher frequency and is pretty clear n clean pic. Haven't used it enough yet but it's definetly clearer pic.
@@AlanFong thank you 🙏 So just to clarify, you only need the S3100 to get the fish reveal on SI when using HDS pro? Just checking because I wanted to get active imaging HD transducer and Active target 2 transducer, and HDS pro head unit, and don’t want to pay the extra for the S3100 module… it’s not 100% clear on the Lowrance site if it is required or not
The new HDS Pro comes with the new higher frequency transducer for down and side imaging. I installed one in a friends boat and it is clearer and the Active target 2 is also clearer. I installed three HDS 12 Pro and Live target 2 in Denise boat and it is clearer than my Live units.
