Dude best install video on UA-cam!!! The transducer orientation temp sensor on top fixed my issue was only scanning right below the boat! Transducer was upside down.🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️

Great video! I just completed the same install and learned there is also software update for the Ghost that gives you the ability to stow your TM.....prop in or prop out. Not a big deal for some but others it could be a big deal when trying to stow the AT xducer in a position that will fit under a boat cover. Again, great install vid.

@@NitroZ18Fishing I purchased a bundle with the Lowrance HDS live 9 unit along with the Active Target system.After I made the purchase,& while waiting for the bundle to arrive, I was informed by the merchant(RMP) that the AT unit was a back order.Have you heard of anything like this comming down the pike before?
Yea unfortunately RMP is way behind on orders....I love RMP and have purchased a lot of my equipment from them, but they fell way behind on AT orders due to Lowrance not sending them as many as promised (from what I heard)...I actually ordered my AT from them the very first day it was available (12/4) within the first 90 minutes of it being up for pre order and didn’t get it until end of January...kinda feel bad for them, they’re a great company to do business with but this AT situation is making a lot of people angry with them...hopefully they’ll get all the orders out as soon as possible!

Ive been using the zip ties, same as other zip ties, made for marine fuel line connections. They are different than regular zip ties. They are perfectly round when closed. No pinching at all, like regular zip ties. I do like your velcro strips also. GREAT VIDEO

Just for you Ranger guys Who own a 520c or 521c that I know of. There is a good void space between your consul and front storage locker. You can save some space in your storage locker by pacing your AT module there. You'll need to remove the shelf side panel. (2 screws in each corner top.) Then remove the black plastic back panel. Plenty of room to mount the AT module. Good access to the cockpit buss bar or your A-1, A-2. & A-3 dash switches. also your wire tube is right there to run wires from the bow. Mount the AT module to cockpit wall (lights up) using 4 Machine screws with washer and Aircraft nuts, placing the washer/aircraft nut on the inside of the mount.
Replacing the black plastic panel with 3 - 1/2 drill bit ventilation holes... placed where you can see the light on the module through those holes (good Luck with lining those up.) Don’t forget to run a extra #12 yellow wire to the bow for any fix Navico will come out with in the future.

I have a bad feeling about this mount in rough water. When the boat is pounding that transducer is a lot of weight hanging on the end of the mount. I see the mount either breaking or shifting on the trolling motor shaft. I would consider a thin rubber pad glued to gunnel in case a big wave rotates the transducer enough to contact the boat. Or go thru the hassle of removing the transducer when making long runs in rough water.

All your videos on the active target really made my install much quicker. Particularly noting the software update procedure for the module/transducer. Great info that a lot of DIY folks are going to miss. Fortunately mine came with the current update! Quick question: my power light on the module blinks red/green , not orange/green( at least that's what my eyes are seeing) Any insight? Everything seems to be working correctly although I have not got it on the water yet.

Great video as always. I currently run HDS Live 12 units & trying to evaluate the new CMAPS Precision HD maps vs Navionics. I live in SC & CMAPS recently mapped SC. Both have things I like & dislike. CMAPS App for mobile devices is useless. Ever thought about doing a video like that? Any thoughts on the topic?
Thanks Chad!...funny you mention that, I have used Navionics for years, but I’m not gonna lie, this new CMAPS is awesome...I absolutely love the ability to set custom shading depths, it’s an awesome feature for sure...I’m going to be using that this season, and I can definitely do a video on it!
Did you put a T in place on your ethernet cable coming out of the front graph?
Question: for the negative wire for interference-do you have to take it all the way back to the battery or couldn’t you take it to the negative terminal on your fuse panel/bus bar?
Yes sir, you can do that as well!...there’s a few different ways you can run the wiring, I just tried to keep the video as short as possible and cover the most popular ways...haha... thanks for watching!
Love your videos. Question: Does the Lowance HDS Live display the speed of the Ghost? My motorguide will tell me if I'm at 8%, 12%, 100% etc.
Thanks man, I appreciate that!… That’s a great question, I know my motorguide Xi5 used to do that but I honestly haven’t tried to utilize that with the ghost yet… I usually dial it in with the speed which it will show of course, but I haven’t tried to look for the percentage… I’ll have to try it out the next time I’m on the water and let you know!
Can I contact the ethier net cable to my sonar hub?

Thanks for the feedback Gene, much appreciated!!...and yes sir, unfortunately the latest software update does not fix the yellow wire issue just yet (as far as I know)...and I ran the yellow/red to my bus bar under console but if you have a bus bar in bow or your boat that would work as well!...let me know if you have any other questions, thanks for watching!
Just make sure where you run the yellow and red, it’s powered by a switch...that way you can manually turn off the Active Target when done fishing!

So, I’ve got a Motorguide TM. I currently have a Live 9 and I have the transducer that came with that on the TM. I’m assuming I have to take that off first before I install my live target. My question is, I don’t need the down imaging transducer for the live target correct?
Hey Dean!…you don’t have to remove the original ducer unless it’ll get in your way of mounting the Active Target…if you have the other ducer on trolling motor head and are going to put Active Target on shaft you can use both…but to answer the 2nd part, no you don’t need the other one to run Active Target…hope that helps!

My prop is on the outside can I still install Active Target and just flip the Transducer and bracket?
Absolutely, you can still install it with the prop out…I just prefer my prop in when stowed, hope that helps!

What size wire should I run for power for the active target. This seems to be hard to find online?
I got the xi5 when it first came out years ago and it at the time had the best spot lock accuracy. I fish a lot of crappie brush piles so it's essential I stay on top of them. How does this unit work in relation to the competition? In particular the motor guide version. I'm interested in a cable steer with spot lock
Hey Joe!...if you’re referring to the Ghost, it’s the best trolling motor I’ve ever ran, hands down...I ran the Xi5 for 6 seasons before swapping to Ghost, and I’ve used other tm’s on friends boats (Ultrex included)...Ghost gets the nod without hesitation, it’s a beast of a motor!

The problem is the lack of cable steering and the instant response when beating the bank. The xi5 holds freaking still but considering Lowrance has made its name on fish finder/ GPS I figured the ghost would hold true too! Thanks for a feed back
Yeah I absolutely loved the Xi5, treated me well for six seasons but I agree about the steering/foot pedal on it… The ghost is just an all-around better motor in every way, Lowrance knocked it outta the park!
How long did you have to wait to get your active targeting. I ordered mine last week and was wondering if it would take a while to get in.
I pre ordered mine on 12/4 through RMP, but from what I understand they’re starting to catch up with pre orders...keep your eyes open at local stores too, a lot of people are getting lucky and finding one here and there on shelves of Bass Pros, Cabelas, etc...tight lines!

I ran 10 gauge marine grade, I would recommend at least 10 or 12...hope that helps!
Does the eithernet wire have to be connected to a particular graph unit in a multiple graph set up or can it hook up to any graph as long as it is on the eithernet network?
Hey Dave!… no sir, as long as you have them all daisychained together they will work properly… If you want to exclude any particular graph in your set up for any reason, just don’t run an ethernet cable to that graph… Hope that helps!
Great video! I wish I saw this before I had paid someone to do the install for me. The installer wired the unit but left the red wire for me to hook up to the accessory switch. Will this still work to turn on and off the unit?
Thanks Kris!…without seeing the install/type of switch it’s tough to say for sure but you should be good to go…as long as the rest of the wiring is ran properly an depending on switch it should work for ya, if it doesn’t let me know and I’ll see if I can help ya figure it out!
I really appreciate that. I bought a toggle switch 12v-10amp rated. I plan to install it near the horn where I can draw power. It’s a two pronged switch so I was going to attach the red wire from the active target to the switch and power from the horn to the other prong. Sounds right, right?

I gave 2 HDS live 12's and soon the live target module running to 1 cranking battery on a Lund boat. Now I am seeing various comments about battery power draw. Is this a concern? What is your battery setup?
Hey Gary!...you should be ok, as long as your battery has a decent reserve capacity...I just made the swap to Lithiums, I have a video on the channel of my battery setup...I’m running all 4 of my graphs (2 12’s and 2 16’s) off my cranking lithium...it’s a 12v 125ah Ionic Lithium...if I have any trouble I may add a second of the same battery and dedicate that to the graphs/Active Target, but we’ll see what happens!
Great Video but I have a question. Does active target require “network sonar” to be enabled on the HDS Live unit where the module connects via Ethernet? Bow HDS Live->Ethernet->Active Target. I currently have “network sonar” disabled to keep temps, depths,.... local to that unit.

@@NitroZ18Fishing I asked Paul Getty same question. He came back and said not on the unit that is directly connected. If you want to share with any other unit then - yes. Everything looks good but haven’t tested on the water. Paul said there was no way to test off the water. Did you get one with weak return? Love my 2020 Z18.
yea there's no way to tell if you got a good or bad unit until ya hit the lake, unfortunately...mine was shot, weak return, static everywhere, not picking up bottom at all...no good all around!
What is the live scanner that is on the way that you are going to mount your transducer to.?
It’s a motorized pole that mounts to trolling motor and lets you control Active Target independently from trolling motor...HUGE when using spot lock...also has some other great features on it, I’ll go over it all in the install video as soon as I get it!

If you run yellow to yellow what do you do with black and red from active target power cable? do they just get ran back to battery ?
Yes sir, red would go to positive and black would go to negative, the yellow would be your “wake up” wire. Hope that helps!
I`m so sorry man . I was wrong .Actually it my XI5 transducer that has a 9pin that won`t connect to the back of the HDS Live 9.
Late to the game here, but I am getting ready to add 2 HDS Live's and Active Target. Fortunately, they have the yellow wire fixed. Quick question, I am mounting my AT in rod storage. I am connecting power for AT to Blue Sea Systems Fuse Block in rod storage that is directly connected to 10G wire back to battery. How can I install a switch at the helm to turn my active target (& graphs?) all on like your switch at 33:20 of video?

I am replacing my HDS 7 Gen2 touch unit on the bow of my boat with the Lowrance HDS Live 9 unit. There are two 9 pin sonar connectors (ch1-blue & ch2 black) I tried to connect my HDI transducer that was on my troll motor to the ch1-blue and it does not fit .So my question is what do I connect to them? I have a HDS 12 Gen2 touch mounted to the console that`s ethernetted to the bow unit and NMEA. The power is also connected. The HDS live 9 is to be used for Active Target when it arrives but at present there is no transducer attached. I thought I could use the HDI transducer from the troll motor for 2D & Down Imaging but it doesn`t fit. What am I missing beside the Active Target Transducer?

How long is the cable that runs from the transducer to the module, and the ethernet cable that runs from the module to the head unit?
The cable from ducer is 25’, and the Ethernet is 15’...hope that helps!

Don’t get me wrong but I love fishing and all this new tech is leading more to Hunting fish instead. Maybe some day I will get this but I’m good with the Elite FS. Great video though.

I fear that you may experience interference from the trolling motor power cable when you run the transducer cable along it.
That’s a very common practice when mounting ducer on trolling motor, unfortunately not many other options when running multiple cords on bow...never experienced interference from that before, fingers crossed I won’t in the future!... thanks for watching!

It’s a mount that attaches to my Ghost and let’s you rotate the Active Target independently from trolling motor, but it also has some awesome features on it as well...I should have it within a week or so, stay tuned and check it out!

Lowrance has the worst costumer service of any unit on the market don't stand behind their products fine as long as you don't have a problem then the real trouble starts
