Sadly this "peace' only lasted 50 years. Although the demon king is gone, there are still demons like Aura who came out of hiding after Himmels death, also the demons who destroyed Starks home village. Then there is still war between nations, wars in which they utilize children as weapons. In Ferns flashback, we see her looking down at her ruined town, either from war or from demons, as she contemplates jumping to her end. Sadly there will always be conflict, whether or not the world is saved
@@FlaccidPlatypus Himmel undoubtedly had a huge impact on the world though. Killing the Demon King has definitely lowered the demons' threat by a large margin. With the Continental Magic Association, even great demons are no longer the unstoppable threats they were only a century ago. Himmel didn't eradicate demonkind, but humanity is finally leveling the playing field. The era of humans has finally arrived.
I feel like there is, the hero sword is still in it's place which probably means the danger still exist. I personally think a someone is going to pull it out and use it to save the world once more. maybe Sein friend (I think he was called Gorilla) is the one who will pull out the hero sword and take Himmel place in the party. we have Fern to replace Frieren, Stark to replace Eisen, Sein to replace Heiter, only Himmel left.@@MrMilkyCoco
The usage of the Hamburg Steak was so interesting, because it showed us 4 separate relationships. Eisen feeding the Hero Party. Eisen feeding Stark. Stolz feeding Stark. Frieren feeding her new party. Each of them saying slightly different things about the characters.
I like how the title of the episode, “a real hero” not only alludes to Himmel but also Stark. However he doesn’t see himself as a real hero, but rather a “fake” hero who ran from his village and couldn’t muster up the courage to fight the red dragon before frieren arrived. Then we see Stark just doing all these good deeds around town on his own free time. He even helped protect the last city from demons. Point being that you don’t need a special sword to be a real hero
I like that Himmel coined himself as a "fake" hero before killing the Demon lord because he haven't accomplished what a real hero needs to be done. And when he does it, he didn't even said to himself that I am a real hero now. He always introduce himself as Himmel the Hero before the Demon lord, then after that, He just calls himself as his name. is what i'd like to think though.
Just finished the last chapter of the manga. Spoiler alert. . . . . So, theres a demon mage that can see far info future. The demon said 100 years from now there will be a huge battle in this planet. In that battle the real hero will be born and will save the planet from whoever that enemy was. But just few years after the demon mage said that, hero himmel kill the demon king. But theres still 90+ years left until the forecasting event the mage said. And now, 80 years after demon king died and + 30 years after himmel died it bacame 100+ years after the forecasting. So there's maybe will be a huge wars in near future and a real hero will be born. Maybe stark will be the hero in this story.
Learning that Himmel and Heiter were friends since childhood really puts into perspective Heiter's grief over Himmel after he died, especially when he saved Fern. If he didn't do something, then everything his best friend ever taught him and everything he loved about him would essentially amount to nothing.
If you think about it, Himmel's death probably distraught Heiter the most. Imagine knowing that your best friend since childhood and probably your brother figure dies, it would probably be very painful
@@juanthegreat3954 True and what sucks is that heiter lived very long for a human just because hes blessed by the goddess. He was THE PRIEST. He shouldve died near the same time as himmel but he couldnt cause thats just how he is. Heck Heiter coulve lived to 150 if he didnt drink so much.
Some people may wonder why Stark "remembers" himself just running away out of cowardice when their village got attacked. It's survivor's guilt, he believes he had done something wrong by surviving a traumatic or tragic event when others did not and considering he is from a 'Warrior Tribe' him running away meant he is a coward, even though in reality he was told to run. Even if logically he may understand that he won't be able to contribute much it does not matter, he still feels that guilt. Chad Himmel being a hero in his own terms. During his funeral his fake sword got buried with him and it still looks beautiful meanwhile the supposed "hero's sword" is rotting in a cave.
'Stolz' means 'pride/being proud (of something)'. I think that is a really fitting name for Stark's brother, since he is the pride of the village, but mainly because he is so proud of his little brother. One of my favourite characters in the show, and he was only in those three little flash backs. The character writing is insanely good.
Of the 26 episodes that have aired to date, ep12 ranks in my top 5. The Sword Village showed how Himmel was a true indominatelable hero and it may have shown the moment a certain elf began having feelings that she is still processing. And I have never been emotional over 1kg of ground beef before. But Stark's reauthoring of his trauma destroyed me. I weep everytime I see the cut to Stolz cooking for his "foolish younger brother."
Stark learning he was receiving a birthday present every year, and knowing his brother cared enough to save his life, and choosing not to try the sword. Yeah this one was powerful.
The thing that really stands out this episode is that he actually had a loving brother, usually in animes its the older better brother/sister thats the nasty shit, but not in this case! And I love it!
I’ve watched all of these reactions ahead of time on Patreon but I still watch everyone that comes out on UA-cam. It’s nice to see someone who really appreciates this anime like I do. I think it has become my favorite anime of all time.
Every episode ending of Frieren I feel filled with various emotions... Then the Ed always starts with... "and you alright?" and I always answer... "NO! I'M NOT ALRIGHT!" 😅😳😭
This episode shows two kinds of heroes 1. The "not chosen" hero who still choose to do good despite not being the destined one 2. The "mundane" hero who dedicates his life not to save the whole world but to a small part of world(family, community, etc)
Stark and Fern are soo cute. She's so sheltered being brought up by Heiter and him being brought up by Eisen. Such a clash of upbringings lol bound to have countless misunderstandings ESPECIALLY at their age. But I thought it was really cute that Fern kinda "forced" him to go pick out a present for himself to start a new tradition. The brother scene always gets me. It's cute in fiction. In reality, it gets old fast. If they're going to have a real relationship, she's got to stop projecting her own perversion onto Stark and calling him a perv all the time and getting mad over nothing.

I'm glad the Starks didn't even try to get the sword. Firstly, because Stark doesn't even consider himself worthy, and secondly, I prefer the lesson of Himmel's story that it's not a magical item that makes a hero a hero.
Makes sense. It seems that the world building follows classical RPG class system. Stark is a warrior class so therefore he cannot equip a hero class weapon lol.
It is not the drawing of the sword that tests the hero, but the willingness. To get to the sword, you have to fight a gauntlet of monsters which are called to it, to protect the most podunk speck of hard to get to village. And survive. And when finding out that you can't draw it, decide that you don't need the sword. In that way, the sword separates those who want to be heroes from those that want power. Like Himmel, Stark passed. Yup. You're gonna cry just about every episode. I have an idea of the sword later on in the story that it will come back, but who knows what they have planned. Oh and if no one mentioned it, the VA for Frieren is also for Anya in Spy X Family, so the animators had her do the Anya smirk as an easter egg when she had the potion.

Stark is just too pure-hearted and that makes him the perfect foil to Fern. I always love the bickering both of them get into (although best boy Stark always concedes 😂). Bcoz of this episode I started think if they really defeated the Demon King. Im sure there is a reason why they showed this. Even if they really did it, why is there a story going around of him pulling that sword.
Frieren spells it out in this episode: it's because of people trying to push a certain narrative about their heroes. They beautify them so much the original person is no more.

I think personally that everyone except frieren was down, and she delivered the killing blow. But she allowed Himmel to take her share of the glory.
猫にマジでビビった😱

So, theres a demon mage that can see far info future. The demon said 100 years from now there will be a huge battle in this planet. In that battle the real hero will be born and will save the planet from whoever that enemy was. But just few years after the demon mage said that, hero himmel kill the demon king. But theres still 90+ years left until the forecasting event the mage said. And now, 80 years after demon king died and + 30 years after himmel died it bacame 100+ years after the forecasting. So there's maybe will be a huge wars in near future and a real hero will be born. Maybe stark will be the hero in this story

Actually in the manga, Stark carry not Frieren but Fern who is also carrying a sleeping and cudling Frieren...the image is so funny that I don´t understand why they didn´t include in the anime
Himmel showing how to blend the destiny and be what you want to be, not like a certain ninja
9:39 he never received a birthday present? 18 years of living? No that's not sad. 34 years I never received a birthday present. And I am so ok about that 😅

one of the favorite aspect on this anime is the introduction on every character on this series were so great. even though some of the character only have little screentime, us as viewers feels like we already know them well and make us adore every character that introduce.
