Jeri go threw and watch all the f4i vids. It will really help you out on taking care of that bike. Also if you change oil and vids help yah please give amsoil a shot and use my dealer number 5541460 at checkout . Amsoil links in description below
Good step-by-step procedure on opening up of these forks for a fluid change... starting after 7:00... I could've done without the very long intro, however! Came here for a sport bike forks, could've condensed the section about the utility quad and your shop to about 30 seconds!

Answering myself, There are some manuals state tight coils to top, some state down, However given the spring is completely submerged in the oil due to the 116mm Air Gap (2001+) (118mm pre2001) then the direction is not relevant for spring rate, just un-sprung weight
