Lorne was actually not that much older than Dan, Michael, or Pernell. He was also "the voice of God" in Canada before emerging as Ben Cartwright. Bonanza played a huge part in my childhood. Thanks for another great one, Jeff.
Great episode Jeff! As an autograph collector myself, I can appreciate how hard it is sometimes to get a genuine signature. Especially nowadays with a lot of fakery going on, the upside being that they have autograph shows now where celebrities on the downturn of their careers sign autographs for money. I haven't acquired any in that way yet, but I have just about gotten passed the the whole I shouldn't have to pay them for their autograph when I already have supported their work. Nowadays I'm more like if they're hurting for money bad enough to sit at a table selling their autograph what's the harm in paying them for it? 😊 Anyhow, great episode and hope you do more like it 😁
@@dwaynecollins4974 would you believe I have never been to a celebrity signing show? Most of them are populated by has-been minor TV characters which I don’t care to have. LOL
Neither have I, I just happened to know because some of the folks I deal with go to them and buy stacks of autographs from minor celebrities to resell.😊
Jeff, I remember Bonanza. It was a fun show to watch. Except for the child actors I think everyone else has passed away. Thank you for recounting this old series. Thank you for sharing with us all the items that you received from the actors. Michael Landon was also a teenage werewolf.
I used to watch Bonanza at my grandparents house back in the 1960s here in the UK as we didn't have a TV. I bought the dvd box set of Bonanza about 20 years ago. Great to see all the autographs. All the best from 🇬🇧

Jeff, thank you so much for the great show, and I wanna tell you a little about Pernell Roberts. I had the pleasure of meeting Pernell Roberts in 2006 with a friend of his that wrote for Have Gun Will Travel. My mother had been in the hospital and I went to my old job at the Henry Ford estate.Because they invited me for lunch and Pernell Roberts was walking around the house of Henry Ford. I ended up talking to him for quite a while and his friend and he ended up coming to my home in Dearborn, Michigan to visit my mother because she had cancer. So he came up to my front porch and chatted with me for a while. But when he found out that my mother was sleeping, he did not want to interfere. I didn't know at the time until after. He told me the story that he had had cancer, and I understand he died of it. One thing, I'd like to let you know that he told me that he was friends with Dan blocker. I had told them that my mother and I were big fans of Bonanza. Sir, Jeff, he was a very nice man, and I don't think he gets a lot of credit for being kind. No, Jeff, I didn't ask him for an autograph which I regret not doing.
I was born in 1959, my grandmother loved Bonanza and one of my first memories of watching TV with my family. Had family who lived in Lake Tahoe, and the Bonanza ranch was fun to visit. I still have Little Joe’s Pancake Mix tin packed away somewhere… Then Star Trek appeared and I was smitten by the Color TV episodes…
The show aired on NBC which at the time was owned by RCA Corp. I've read that was one of the main reasons they wanted it in Color, from the beginning in 1959.

My dad watched Bonanza! I wasn’t a western fan but I would watch with my dad. I like the opening of the show with the fire coming through. Little things that draw you in! That is an awesome autograph collection for just one show! I have a few autographs that are in scrapbooks from long ago. Mine are from NFL players due to me living in Green Bay. I have a short note from a Packer coach from the 1980’s. They are special to me. Now my daughter and grandkids could care less. 😊
As a child, my Dad owned a Appliance store, and we had the first color TV in our town. The whole neighborhood would come into our house to watch BONANZA, in COLOR! I am now 69 years old, and about 15 years ago, I became very close friends with the man upon whom the NBC TV show, THEN CAME BRONSON was based.. His good friend, Denne Bart Petitclerc, was a writer and Script Consultant on Bonanza, and he created High Chapparral. Denne also wrote the Treatment and created, THEN CAME BRONSON, based on my friend's adventures. I still watch Bonanza every day, sometimes twice.
Growing up in 1960’s Germany Bonanza was one of our favorite shows. “Westerns” were a very popular genre at the time. We would gather in front of the TV set every Sunday afternoon to watch. Considered to be a “Straßenfeger” (street sweeper, as in empty streets due to TV programming) it was one of those shows we never missed. I visited the Ponderosa Ranch sometime in the 1970’s or early 80’s after moving to California. They offered tours of the ranch, not sure if they still do. Virginia City is a beautiful place worth stopping in! You’re a regular autograph hound, Jeff! Great episode, thanks! Brings back wonderful memories!
I was 8 years old when Bonanza premiered. My family watched it religiously until its demise. We always thought that Robert’s was a creep for leaving the show. We thought he felt that he was better than the rest of the cast. Thank you, Jeff!
I’m 60 years old and can fondly remember Bonanza very well, as I use to watch it with my Parents. I would give anything to go back and be able to watch it with them again, as they are both gone. As a Side story, my dad’s Mom used to work as a waitress in a restaurant in the early 70’s, and one of the other waitresses name was Betty Cartwright. I was probably 10 or 11, and I would, as a running joke, ask her how her Brothers, Hoss, Adam and Little Joe were?
I recall Mom & Dad and and us 4 (at the time) boys were at grandma Hilda’s house visiting on a Sunday evening. Dad would look at his watch and say”alright ma, get the kids ready to head home” . That was to ensure we got home in time to watch Bonanza in COLOR . Every one who came to visit us at home always mentioned how good our RCA console TV made such a sharp clear picture. How times have changed . Thanks Jeff, great program
Thanks for the great story! You know what’s funny? TV picture quality back then would never compare to our flat screen TVs of today but we thought it was great!
I was born in December of 1962, so I started watching Bonanza in syndication. And I watched it all the time. I also visited the Bonanza tourist attraction in Lae Tahoe. This was a fun video to watch. Thans for the memories.
Watched it, loved it, visited the Lake Tahoe location, and I still have 2 of the tin coffee cups from the souvenir shop. Great childhood memories, thanks Jeff for sharing your extensive autograph collection and stories. Loved the old series footage too. See ya next Sunday!
@@jbenziggy seeing back stories of your parents favorite shows are so incredible. Wish I would’ve watched with my dad more often. Feeling nostalgic. Thank you again sir.
Excellent showcasing of those treasured signatures, Jeff. I have always been a huge fan of Michael Landon, and thanks to my dad and grandpa I was lucky enough to grow up watching these great shows and western movies as a kid. I remember my grandpa saying that Michael Landon was the best cryer in Hollywood, due to his dramatic and sad scenes where he could shed tears on command. I really love Little House. The writing on that show was phenomenal. It got old once the girls got older, but I often revisit the DVDs of the early years. Thanks for sharing your very impressive collection with us
I watched Bonanza with my dad. Thanks for this show, Jeff it brought back good memories for me. Your journalism skills, friendly personality and your passion for sharing history keep us coming back every week. I wish I had the forethought years ago to collect autographs like you did. Great stories tonight Jeff. Thanks again! 👍
I grew up in Reno Nevada during the 60’s & 70’s. Bonanza being in its prime, I remember watching it with my parents. Going to the Ponderosa Ranch near Tahoe was always a favorite thing to do in the summer. Great memories. It’s almost a crime that park wasn’t saved. 😕
Hey Jeff! There’s archival spray available to protect that newsprint lignin from migrating. There are also acid free sheet protectors that will help with that and also protect your other items as well! (I used to be a museum archivist😉). LOVED the episode! Your biggest Tennessee (formerly California) fans!
I was channel surfing recently when I came upon an episode of Bonanza. There was 10 minutes left. I had never seen this episode before. Immediately I could tell it was written and directed by Michael Landon. When the camera pulled back I could tell it was a 1970s episode because of Mr. Landon's age. The episode was titled "Terror at 2:00." Man was it good. Riveting, absolutely riveting.
I loved the Show.I saw your video on bogus autographs on Michael Landon. And have heard that Pernell Roberts’s was not much on being fan friendly. I was alive through all those years. Loved Dan Blocker as well. And Candy was the Character that replaced Adam. Thank you Jeff for sharing! I enjoyed your video! 💯👍
This brings back good old memories of watching Bonanza as a kid at my grandparents house in the '60's. It was always on Sunday nights, right after Disney's The Wonderful World of Color! My grandparents had a color TV, and that was something special in those days! I always wanted to be Little Joe!
Hello Jeff, Thanks for sharing your autographs from the stars of Bonanza. What a great collection you have and sharing the memories. Happy Sunday, and have a great day.
My mother didn't want me to watch TV all of the time, so we didn't have one. My dad loved Bonanza, and we would go to my aunt's house to watch it. When I was three, we went when to her house and I wasn't feeling well. Myaunt thought I should go to the hospital. I had acute appendicitis. I always say Bonanza saved my life.
My gosh, watching your video made me feel old, Jeff! In September 1959, I had barely graduated high school in May of that year. I was not a regular of the Bonanza series, however, after marrying, my husband and I watched almost every week during the earlier years. He was a huge fan and continued watching the reruns for many years until his passing. I get your fascination with collecting autographs, I have a very few compared to those you have shown in this and past videos. Keep on keepin' on!
Oh yes , every Sunday night we where watching before bed ! I love the show ! It was sad when Dan blocker died ! Never was the same with out hoss on the show !
😀 I also have a TV guide from the Modesto Bee, dated December 5-11, 1976. Lots of ads from local businesses selling TV sales and service, something we don’t see anymore. Reading the listings, there’s independent TV stations I miss, which sadly were taken over by cable networks.
Absolutely loved Bonanza! Still watch it. My friend and I were extras on Bonanza, I want to say revisited, the movie? I was working in Carson City at the time and they needed about 40 cowboys everyday for like a week. So we spent half our vacation making $65.00 a day. Just waiting to go riding off into the sunset. Yee-Haa! Had a blast!!😊
Bonanza was a show ,as I grew up ,that I enjoyed watching with my Dad. Loved Ben Cartright ! I am always fascinated by and enjoy seeing all of your wonderful autographs. I had an autograph book as a kid but was too shy to go up to a celebrity to have them sign it. Thanks for a great video of a beloved show !! I still watch it when I find it on TV. Also Little House and Highway to Heaven.
Lived in Tahoe, Carson City, and Reno. I'd go from watching Bonanza to Gunsmoke and back again. Always liked living there. Gotta love that Bass-ackwards map, though! 😂
I was raised on Bonanza. I would think i have seen all the shows. Love your collection on such a iconic show. The show, I think was always showing the good in people and not to judge . Ben would talk to his grown sons like they were teenagers. Kind of corny, but the show was showing good verses doing the wrong things according to Ben. Thanks for the trip back to yesteryear.
Hi Jeff, Candy came on the show after Pernell Roberts left. Roberts thought he was too good to be on BONANZA. I'VE been to that house in Nevada, and the old west town. BONANZA was a great show practically every one watched it. We have several of them tin coffee cups from the Ranch. Thanks for Sharing this, very interesting. 😊 Great collection of autographs, nice Buffalo Bill poster, I have his signature on letters he wrote. Cheers 😅
I have one handwritten letter by William F. Cody that I will never sell! The content is great too! Happy to hear you are also a collector. I took a signed Buffalo Bill photo and was on Pawn Stars and he low balled me so I still have it!
Great episode! I’ve been to the Ponderosa site/attraction back in the 70’s. My brother and I split a Hoss burger. I think I was 13 at the time. 65 now. Thanks for all your hard work and entertainment.
Great episode! Growing up in Reno, I frequently visited The Ponderosa Ranch at Lake Tahoe. I remember going on tours of the house they used in the movie and learned that, although there was a staircase that was frequently filmed in the show, it was just a facade of sorts as the doors at the top didn’t go anywhere. The horses that each of them rode were also kept there. Nice memories!
Enjoy all of your channel's videos. Authentic autographs are special ~ I see it as a keepsake from that individual. Be they celebrities or beloved family.❤ Touchable remembrance of their existence! Blessings from TN ~Jeff & Sarah. 🙂 🙋
This was a great episode Jeff! Bonanza was a big part of our tv watching when I was growing up. And, it was a pretty big deal when we were invited to the neighbors house to watch on their COLOR t.v.!
This show was one of dad’s favorites. When I was a kid in the 70’s and 80’s I would watch the reruns with my dad. I can still hear my dad saying “This is when TV was good” I also read Lorne Green worked on radio before he did TV 📺. Thanks Jeff, you brought up some good memories.
We can see the twinkle in your eyes when you share your autograph collections with us. It's obvious that you have loved this hobby a long, long time. These are some of your finest episodes!
Very enjoyable. Loved Bonanza growing up. So sad that Dan Blocker passed so young. Also Michael Landon , too young. You have a great collection of pictures and autographs. You guys have a great day. Thanx
Great collection of autographs! As a journalist, I interviewed and met quite a few celebrities - but always felt it inappropriate to ask for an autograph from them.
Hi Jeff, Good morning. I am not a collector, but enjoy seeing other collectors. I was in an airport once,on my way to Germany as a military wife. I had two babies, and my life in suitcases. In front of me was a baseball superstar. Long story short, he was upset that I didn’t want his autograph. 😳. I loved bonanza. It was part of my childhood. Thank you for what you do.
My husband and I were married in October 1995 at Ponderosa Ranch in the white wedding chapel. We had all 4 of our kids (we added another one later) in our wedding.. Our minister came to our reception and drank in the saloon with us! Long time ago and we were sad to see the Ranch close. We have great photos! My Dad didn't want to give me away because he said I kept coming back!
Wow! Excellent presentation once, again! A contact at Paramount noted that the produces had considered having the lads sing the Bonanza theme as they rode into the camera during the opening shot, but they were so out of tune the idea was scrapped. Of course, the composer, David Rose also wrote many show tunes including “The Stripper.” Thanks, again, Jeff!!
I'm not an autograph hound, but loved Bonanza. Watched it every week. We went to the Bonanza "ranch" in Tahoe about 2-3 years before it was bought by a multi millionaire for his kids and closed to the public. That was a real disappointment to the public. Yes, this was interesting Jeff, enjoyed it.
That Michael Landon letter to the Reagan's is unreal and a family heirloom I would say. I always tell people that the country really lost something since Landon's passing...a certain true decency his shows seemed to influence many in positive ways.
I grew up in King’s Beach in North Lake Tahoe. As a small child I got to watch them filming in Incline. After, I saw Pernell and Lorne at the North Shore Club drinking beers and signing autographs. Even as a child I was impressed how tired they looked after a day of filming, though they were gracious in signing autographs and talking with fans. I also later saw Dan Blocker buying tacos from Jimboy’s Tacos in King’s Beach.
I like the Adam Cartwright years the best. It wasn’t the same once Adam, the oldest brother left the series. And yes I still watch that show this day. Candy and Little Joe. Were cool too. The Dad had the best horse. Dan Blockers son was a regular character on the tv series Ba Ba Black Sheep. With Robert Conrad. Great show too.
Good memories of a wonderful show. The Bonanza Ranch attraction at Incline Village Nevada was a fun visit back in the day. Today the only evidence of it is some street names.
Thank you for sharing your collection with us, very interesting stories about the show. I remember watching it a little when I was young. Also going to the Ponderosa Ranch at Tahoe. Even through it wasn't really filmed there, I didn't know any better!! Thanks Jeff.
Great video! I worked at the May Co in North Hollywood, back in the early '70s. There were always famous people coming through. I wish I had been into collecting autographs, I could have had some really cool ones. Thank you for sharing with us....
I loved Bonanza , i still watch the old shows , its really to bad that nothing these days compares to the old TV showd as far as entertainment goes, keep up the great content Thank You
I didn’t get to watch the early shows of Bonanza as I grew up on the state line of Illinois and Wisconsin and our antenna had to get a NBC station out of Iowa at the time. It was a long way across the Mississippi and the bluffs. The weather had to be just right. Always loved that show.
This is great, Jeff. I get it and it is fascinating. Wish I was there to see them in person. To have these autographs is a not only a piece of history but also memories of people and things that are/were important in our life as well. For over 50 years I was a record collector. I would compare signature collecting to record collecting in a way. Thanks for sharing this with us, Jeff.
Jeff, thank you for sharing your awesome collection! I have to wonder what was going on in Pernell Roberts' and David Canary's heads by being so stubborn to work with on what was one of television's most popular shows at the time. Getting a role like that is an opportunity of a lifetime!
Pernell Roberts felt like he was destined for greater roles and he felt the TV show was beneath his acting abilities so he split and he wasn’t that successful as an actor.
In 1969 i was a kid, my uncle owned an advertising company and did advertising for Polaris, I came out to the Ponderosa movie set and they shot them on Polaris snowmobiles I met Lorne Green and Michael and Hop Sing and Dan , I have a pic of all of us together and signatures, at that time the snowmobiles were just coming out and didnt know if Dan Blocker would be good on the sled as he was a big guy while Lorne and Michael were not that big...I believe the article came out in the fall of 69, the shoot was in the spring, and I remember going up to the set many times after as an adult before they closed it down when it was sold for development the wagon ride up, the fake bandits trying to rob it and the bourbon and coffee at the top with breakfast. My dad died in 1980 of pancreatic cancer also, at 49 , its pretty much a death sentence when I saw Michael on Carson one could tell he was not long..great series...and a great autograph collection! I have a few also...
Hi Jeff....nice vlog...loved Bonanza as a kid .....the guys and Audra were great ...of course Hop Sing too..... thanks for vlogging these great memories....take care ... Deborah 🇨🇦

Remember going in the 50s with family to watch Bonanza on friend's new color TV 📺
I was six years old when the cast walked into my room at the children's hospital in Phoenix. My eyes were big as saucers!
wow hope you are doing well
Thanks Jeff, I'm building a house on the outskirts of Gardnerville. Everytime I look over my 20 acres I cant help but sing the Bonanza song!
Sounds blissful!

Supposedly the horse that Lorne Green rode was the same horse that James Arness rode in Gun Smoke
This video ended too soon for us! We could have kept watching more of your story telling. Thank you again for all that you do.
Aww, that’s a nice compliment for sure! Thanks so much!
Enjoyed again, Jeff and Sarah
Watched it, loved it, visited the Lake Tahoe location, and I still have 2 of the tin coffee cups from the souvenir shop. Great childhood memories, thanks Jeff for sharing your extensive autograph collection and stories. Loved the old series footage too. See ya next Sunday!
My late father loved Bonanza! Never got into it until you re-introduced me to it. Thank you so much sir!! I have a lot of episodes to watch. 😂
How did I get you into watching it again?
Wow, thank you! I really appreciate your message and take it to heart. Bless you for it.
Love the signature editions! Bonanza was a big part of my life, to include working at a Bonanza restaurant!
I recall dining at a Bonanza Restaurant / Steakhouse where the steak was exceptionally delicious, but I think they closed down
Love Bonanza!! Still watch it today. Thanks, Jeff, for the nostalgia! 👍
My pleasure! Thanks David!
💯👍
Loved watching Bonanza as a kid. Was on every Sunday afternoon in Australia.
Interesting. I heard that it even ran in Japan and they dubbed in the Japanese language. Hilarious to think about!
This brings back good old memories of watching Bonanza as a kid at my grandparents house in the '60's. It was always on Sunday nights, right after Disney's The Wonderful World of Color! My grandparents had a color TV, and that was something special in those days! I always wanted to be Little Joe!
It was a magical time when we were kids back then!
One of my favorite shows!!! Thank you
Our pleasure! Thanks!
That is awesome! Who do you have in your collection?
Oh yes , every Sunday night we where watching before bed ! I love the show ! It was sad when Dan blocker died ! Never was the same with out hoss on the show !
Mom & dad love the show & all those Chevy commercial !
Always loved Bonanza! Used to watch it with my great grandparents in their log home in Grass Valley! GR8 HH "fix" for the week Jeff! ~Chris
Sounds so cool to have experienced that!
@jbenziggy talk about a bunch of drunk cowboys afterwards 😂 🤣 So cool 😎 .
My gf's grandfather 82 years old still watched this show.
My grandpa loved Bananza .💜❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️LOVE YOU GRANDPA❤️ALWAYS
I enjoyed watching it. Thank you sharing the story about Ronny and Nancy, they were the First Family and truly missed.
I've watched Bonanza myself but that theme song is what sticks with me the most 😂 another great video Jeff thanks for sharing your collection
Enjoy all of your channel's videos. Authentic autographs are special ~ I see it as a keepsake from that individual. Be they celebrities or beloved family.❤ Touchable remembrance of their existence! Blessings from TN ~Jeff & Sarah. 🙂 🙋
Thanks, Janet, for watching! Blessings from us to you too!
This was a great episode Jeff! Bonanza was a big part of our tv watching when I was growing up. And, it was a pretty big deal when we were invited to the neighbors house to watch on their COLOR t.v.!
Great show Jeff
Grew up n Sacramento going to Lake Tahoe n the summers as a kid n the 70’s n 80’s
Went to the ponderosa a couple times.
Wonderful! Thanks so much for sharing your special memories!
We can see the twinkle in your eyes when you share your autograph collections with us. It's obvious that you have loved this hobby a long, long time. These are some of your finest episodes!
Thanks, Harold! I enjoy my hobby and think folks like seeing them! It gives me great enjoyment!
Here in the UK, Bonanza was always on our tv. Dad liked it, and it was so popular over here.
Thank you for watching! Who was the baseball star that you saw?
Reggie Jackson
🙂👍 I still watch it on YT channels ,Love it forever....
I loved that series!!! I still wat h reruns to this day!!!
I felt lucky to win that Landon letter to Reagan!
I used to watch the show all the time. My daughter has Bonanza in her video collection.
We visited the Ponderosa in 94 when my son was 1 yr old and have a old postcard too. Have some photos too. Nice episode!😊
Wow! What fantastic encounters you had with them! I would have really enjoyed seeing them, especially Dan Blocker!
I think it was called the Ponderosa Ranch. About 30 years ago I bought a Ponderosa Ranch souvenir cup at a yard sale. I still have it.
@@kenfrank2730 Thanks, you are right it was the Ponderosa Ranch.
I love the show. watched the late episodes when they were first out then loved watching them all in reruns
Great episode. Bonanza was a classic TV show. Lotsa people say i look like Hoss. Some really cool autos . Take care 🤠🌲🐎
Hi Jeff....nice vlog...loved Bonanza as a kid .....the guys and Audra were great ...of course Hop Sing too..... thanks for vlogging these great memories....take care ... Deborah 🇨🇦
Loved Bonanza, and it was when the first colored tvs came out 🎉 thanks 👍
Jeff, that looks like an excellent constructed article for the magazine, and I never collected autographs, but you made it interesting.
Thanks 😊
Thanks, Gary!
I remember in the early seventies my grandmother loved Bonanza and she always used to say that cowboys really wasn’t that good looking 👀!😎🤣
I loved that show. This was great!
Thanks for the walk down memory lane !
Our pleasure!
Loved Bonanza and Pettie coat junction and mind messed up but one with Zsa Zsa Gabor? green something? Loved your history of all these folks This was a great step back into our childhood great video Jeff loved it very much and love how you have autographs from folks i grew up with. Cant believe how many famous folks you have got to meet Thankyou very much for sharing this with us
Yes! Thank you! By the way, you were referring to Green Acres!
