    Please help! I have a 10 month Siberian husky male. He marks all the time. He went through prison training and pretty well trained but he does mark in house now less then before but when we go places, he walks and pees at the same time without even stopping. How do we stop that? He gets out several times a day for bathroom break and separate walks.

      The bichon males my mom had and has were never able to stop marking. One of them had to wear a diaper full time. Maybe it's an issue this breed has. The one she has now insists on peeing where he sleeps so none of the other dogs (poms) can have beds either. My mom also considers this normal Male behavior though and doesn't do anything. He sleeps on her bed and pees on it and she doesn't seem to notice because she has allergies and is a mouth breather so doesn't notice smells and doesn't believe it or care unless it damages furniture. Some people really don't care if their little "furbaby" p*sses everywhere. Maybe there's some connection with infantilizing dogs, treating them like babies, and then literally having to put then in diapers

    I just came across this video and it makes perfect sense. I have two dogs. One is a female about 4 years old, spayed and a little dog who will be two years old in June, not neutered. These two dogs get along very well. That isn't the issue. My female is perfect in the house, no issues with her at all. The little male however pees on everything. He was housebroken as a puppy and even though he does his business outside, he also does his business INSIDE. He has peed on my leather furniture, my wood furniture, my refrigerator, stove, in both bathrooms ironically, and has stained my wood floors so badly I don't think I will ever get the stains out. My little guy Jack cries to go outside and I let him out. I also let both dogs out a few times an hour which is excess. Jack has been checked by the vet for any urinary issues and there aren't any. We discussed having Jack neutered and I know there is no guarantee that he will stop peeing on everything.
    Jack absolutely will not go outside when it's raining (my big dog does) and Jack won't go out on the wet grass even after the rain has stopped. I really love both of my dogs and am beside myself about what to do about Jack's bad habit. I never scold Jack for peeing and pooping in the house. Believe it or not, I have never once caught Jack doing his business inside and he's done it many many times.
    Jack is very close to me. He likes for me to hold him when I'm on my computer, he likes to be brushed and I brush him a couple of times a week. He sleeps in bed with me and my big dog sleeps on her bed in my room. Sometimes Jack will sleep with the big dog but most of the time he's at the foot of my bed under his blanket.
    Jack's peeing and pooping has stressed me out but I try not to show it. I find it, clean it up and move on. The stain and odor removers I have used are useless. Just money down the drain but I continue to use them.
    I need help.

      There is something in the house that bothers your dog or something has recently happened which has caused him to get stressed in order to behave that way. Do you know any major changes that has happened lately? Is there something in the house that you just changed or replaced? Any little thing can make your dog to get reactive that way which means he is a sensitive dog. For more info watch the following video. ua-cam.com/video/VB9PbdBqPsE/v-deo.html

    He was full of anxiety and marked in and out of the home whenever I turned my back, I followed your advice by making him feel more secure , by crating him when I would leave him alone , he has transformed in to a calm , confident dog and has not marked in the house once in months!

    Very interesting perspective and quite possibly just the one I needed to hear. My dog after 8 years is suddenly peeing in the house, on the bed and under the pergola, rather than out in the garden where he’s always done it, and it’s causing all sorts of stress and anxiety.

    I just found this video today, so I don't know if you'll see the comments to respond and possibly help, but, here goes. We recently adopted a male dog (he's about 7 years old). We already have 2 female dogs that are both 3 1/2 years old. All 3 dogs are Chugs and about the same size. The male dog is marking, and we don't know how to make it stop. It's only marking. He's very good about going #2 outside and even his regular peeing. He just insists on marking in the house. It does seem to be around the same areas. He has never peed in our bed or on the furniture (except the kitchen chair once). He has peed on shoes on more than one occasion. Also, although he's very good about going outside in the grass, he also intentionally marks the concrete patio. We don't know much about his history except that he was left at the shelter with 4 other dogs all from the same household, so having multiple dogs in the house isn't the issue, but it could be "new" dogs and "new" owners. We love him and really want to keep him, but we've got to get him to stop marking. HELP!

    • @SaroDogTraining
      @SaroDogTraining  6 місяців тому

      The cause of the marking is that your new dog is stressed and anxious in the new place. That is because you have given too much freedom and not much structure. To learn what to do watch this video: ua-cam.com/video/lciImRFwQgM/v-deo.htmlsi=wkIPUmMSPxXr97YO

    Hi Saro! I have a senior rescue who was neutered well into adulthood (around estimated age 8-9). He is housetrained and doesn't mark or have accidents inside, HOWEVER he doesn't relieve himself promptly when we go on walks. He ONLY knows how to mark, and not how to have a proper potty break JUST for pee/poo. We live in downtown Toronto, and there are a lot of other dogs in out immediate vicinity, and a lot of pee around us. So we over-marks a LOT. Sometimes up to 30 times in a walk. My trouble is that I have to commit 1-2hrs a day taking him out 3 sometimes 4 times a day and walk around while he marks constantly to empty his bladder. On my bad days, I can feel guilty for resenting all the responsibility because I feel like my whole life revolves around his bladder, but it also seems like its unrealistic of most dog owners to find this kind of time, everyday! I'd love to take him of one or two short walks a day, and more potty breaks. How can I train him to understand what it is to have a potty break where he really releases a lot of volume at once? This would relieve so much of my stress!

    • @SaroDogTraining
      @SaroDogTraining  6 років тому +1

      I need you to understand few things. Although he seems that he is not empty, the fact is that dogs are never going to be empty. They have a reservoir in their bladder which is designed for marking purposes. So, they never get empty even if you try. So, don't focus on getting him empty because that will never happen. Just let him pee few times and take him home. Don't need to spend hours to get him empty. Don't worry, he won't develop health issues like bladder stones or such as long as he is able to pee every few hours, he should be fine. So, don't stress yourself. Just let him pee few times every time you take him out and feel good that you have done your part. If you do that, in few weeks, he will adjust his urination frequency accordingly.

    My dog has jealousy issues, and is marking indoor and outdoor. How can train good habits? My first thought is to go back to crate training. Take him out 1x every 4 hours. what else might you recommend? The jealousy issues are traits I inherited from his first owner. He was one of many dogs in his previous household and was not the favorite. He's a goldendoodle, only 1 year. People say to get him fixed and it will change however, i'm not so sure it's that easy. Let me know if you have additional training tips thanks

      The best advice that I can offer at this situation is to keep your dog under control, on leash or in a crate while you can't supervise it. Start training him to build trust and confidence and after few weeks of that see if he changes his behaviour.

    my 4 year old beagle never marks inside our home… but definitely on walks even on leash and after his main pee… he constantly sniffs as all beagles do and you know it’s coming when he finds a spot that’s interesting.. especially a tree, plant mailbox post or fire hydrant
    he will also mark inside say a pet store where there are other dogs and at the dog park.. where i’ve seen dogs mark other dogs… it can be a wild place but i always chalked it up to wolf behavior

    I have a male Shih Tzu who will be two years old in December. I don't intend neutering him. He's the love of my life. Was potty trained when he was just 3 months old. Never messed in the house. I am living in India. Now relocated to Goa. after my late husband's death. Presently, residing in a gated complex but we do have a few unhealthy looking stray dogs roaming around my villa. Hence I haven't been able to walk my baby.ever since I've been here. Goes to pee and do his job in our garden and back yard. My son has a female dog and a male cat. Both neutered.. My Shih Tzu is constantly after my son's dog licking her. The vet said it's due to her hormonal secretion which excites my dog. The past four months my dog has been marking his territory on my furniture, my son's belongings, his bed and his dog's bed when he runs up to greet him. Got him a belly band but the vet advised against using it. Said it could cause a urinary infection. When Deno my dog marks his territory he looks straight into my eyes when I say Deno is a naughty boy, who did this? Gently growls back and does not allow that spot to be washed. He goes down every couple of hours to pee. The past two weeks, I have done exactly what u have mentioned in your video. Put him on his leash and kept him close to me. I do find an improvement. My son tends to punish him which I totally disagree with. I am gentle but firm. Also, I would like to mention, he's a very affectionate loving dog. Loves to be cuddled and kissed under his neck and belly. Why then does he attack me viciously at times.? While grooming sometimes if I try to turn him gently or by mistake while brushing pull his fur very gently he goes absolutely crazy and attacks me. Has bitten me twice. At times he's as good as an angel. Love's being groomed.. Always by my side except when it's cliose to his.meal time. Waits patiently near the kitchen for the cook to give him his bowl. Sleeps with me at night. A very intelligent and a clever dog. Understands everything when spoken too. I will truly appreciate and be happy to know if u could guide me. Maybe, I am too loving and gentle with him and hence attacking me.. He knows I love him very much. Gets terribly upset when I pretend to cry for being attacked. Licks me on my face and whines loudly saying he's sorry.. Hope to receive a response as and when u have the time.. Have a blessed day. 🙏

    • @SaroDogTraining
      @SaroDogTraining  2 роки тому

      Being gentle and firm is good but firm and clear is better. Clarity will bring his stress down and his confidante up. You and Deno may have a great relationship but may need some more improvement. Let's say you have a 90% quality relationship but sometimes the 10% can mess up the rest. Try improving the 10% by following this formula. ua-cam.com/video/UexXJy7PcT8/v-deo.html

    I was given a beautiful 4-year-old Pomeranian jack Russel cross last September. I find he is reluctant to do his needs out the back yard he loves going for a walk, but he marks all the time and most times he will have a bowel movement. the problem is he will mark in the corridor in the house I have tried spraying vinegar to stop him but to no avail. I am pleased with his overall behavior, and he is fairly obedient except when he goes out a night, he sees a possum and he will not come in until almost 2am he runs away when I try to catch him. He is such a lovely dog and I have come to love him so much as he sleeps with me and is a very good watch dog. I am 85 so unable to walk him more than once a day. I just wish he would not mark in the house. Can you help me?

    • @SaroDogTraining
      @SaroDogTraining  3 місяці тому

      So, he has been with you for almost a year. The marking in the corridor is a conversation with you that he wants you to know to help him regarding his mental state. He is leaving messages to you saying that he needs help. He feels insecure and not confidante about his life. You are probleble sharing too much affection and not much guidance and directions. You need to somehow provide him his daily required exercise which is physical stimulation, plus his daily mental stimulation with some one on one play and train, his daily socializations, care and then affection. Do your best based on limitations and abilities to fulfill his needs. Regarding chasing possums, simply take him out (during the day) on a leash or attached to a rope so you can get him back plus it gives him some assurance that he is connected to you.

    Great video! I feel I controlmy dogs quite a bit, but they continue with this behavior. They don't pee inside, but they mark every 20 steps they take outside. How can I stop them from "competing"? They are both 6yr old mix french poodle males. I've tried treats, exercise, not letting them pee immediately when we go out, but they continue with this.

      @SaroDogTraining  4 місяці тому

      Training, including to provide their daily five essential needs will help them to gain more confidence and pay more attention to you and your cues rather than getting distracted by what is out there. They are simply to focused on the smells rather than being focused on you.

    My 3 year old Yorkie is constantly peeing and marking in my house. He was spade at 18 months. He gets a lot of attention and we go for walks regally. I am desperate. I take him out often and although I work full day he can freely go out side. It is if he only do this when I'm not looking. I have never ever saw a dog wee this much, not even big dogs. He sleeps with me and never pee in my room. He is a very happy dog.

    • @SaroDogTraining
      @SaroDogTraining  Рік тому

      I understand your frustration with your Yorkie's marking behavior. It sounds like you're providing him with attention, walks, and outdoor access, which is great. Marking behavior can sometimes be related to territorial instincts or even medical issues.
      Since you've mentioned that he mostly does this when you're not looking, it could be beneficial to supervise him more closely and consider crate training or confining him to a small area when you're unable to watch him. This might help in preventing the marking indoors.
      Additionally, consulting your vet is a good idea to rule out any underlying medical conditions that could be contributing to the excessive peeing.

Defiantly, stop the training with that trainer. For now, your goal should be to help your dog with trauma. Are you able to hire a force-free or positive dog trainer? If not, let me know to see if we can work together.

    • @SaroDogTraining
      @SaroDogTraining  6 років тому +2

      That is just sign of few things. One could be that he is drinking too much water due to eating dry food. When eating dry food they tend to drink a lot of water. By changing the diet you will see your Chihuahua will drink less and pee less. The other thing could be that he is not fully potty trained. You may want to work on that. Also, when a dog pees on it's owner, it might be that your dog is claiming you. If your dog is peeing out of excitement, it could be that he can't control his bladder.

    Hey! I got a two year old husky about two months ago. From what his previous owners told me, he’s very dominant and dog aggressive towards not only other big dogs, but puppies as well. He came from a breeder who had two other adult huskys who hated him & bit him constantly. We believe that was the root of his problem. We took him in with the plan to try to “retrain” him. At first, I assumed his marking was normal because of the new environment, but it’s become an excessive thing just like the dog in this video. I just need help trying to find out why he’s doing it so much. Everytime we take him to the park, it seems like he’s more concerned about marking every tree or stump. Also, we do have two German Shepherd Puppies that we also introduced to him in hopes that it will help his aggression. From what i’ve noticed, he’s uncomfortable with them wanting to play and it makes him angry & want to lash out. We’ve been giving him a tiny bit more
    attention than the pups recently to see if that’ll help with anything.

    Hello. My husband and I have a two male dogs that had started marking. It began when my husband started letting them on the couch with him. One is a Chocolate Lab, the other GSD. Both had been completely potty trained, and both are well over 3 years old. I suspect, competition. I had asked husband to stop letting them on the couch. He is not consistent with either dog. From your video, I gathered that like horses, go back to the beginning? Reduce the area they have , put them in kennels again, as if puppies all over again?

      I would think, it is more than just being allowed on the couch. There must be something other tan that. But I may be wrong. What kind of dogs are they? The breeds? Both are fixed. So are our female dogs. We don't have any trouble with the girls. I am pretty sure they are trying to dominate the other. The cuddling on the couch is the change we've had. How to go about show them , they need not be jealous?. They mind for everything else. Come, sit, stay, they don't go near food unless told ok, don't rush in or out ( l do have to remind them so.etomes, l say "easy") they tells us if they "need" out. I am just not sure what to do.

    My beagle is potty trained but he still marks specific places in the house, I almost feel as if he’s trying to tell me something. We have daily walks early in the evening, hot weather where I live and any other hour would be awful for him.
    Sometimes I’m a bit late because I work from home, when this happens he immediately pees on the fridge. Then next day he pees the stove, only when this happens. Keeps doing it for a few days when he sees me too angry or if I give him an extra walk.
    The only other marking I can’t explain is that he loves peeing one specific curtain in the living room.
    I spayed him today so I hope he becomes less inclined to do this but I feel the kitchen markings are revenge because otherwise he’d be house broken.

I know it is a competitive thing because there was a neighbor with a big dog that scared him one day and for years since he only wants to poop and pee as close to their yard as possible and always looks over at their house to see if they are watching. Teach and practice sit and stary with friends and family members so the dog gets familiar with the guests coming procedure. Feed fresh food instead of dry food to reduce the water intake therefore less stress on bladder and less accidents. Also, make sure there are no bladder infections or issues.

I think he is on the older side but he was pretty well trained. Than it’s like now he does it on purpose. He pees everywhere but tries to get as close to me as possible. And it’s been getting worse and worse at first he used to pee and hide and now he’s doing it and looking at my husband or trying to pee on me. Today he peed on my foot. I don’t know what to do. I am so sorry that you are going through this. I remember years ago, while I was training some students at a park, I saw a dog lifting its leg and peeing on its owner. It was shocking and surprising for me to see that. It was very embarrassing for the dog owner as everyone saw it. When a dog does such a thing, it is a clear signal to me but not to the owners that the dog is very stressed and confused and it is expressing its feelings to the owner by visually communicating it. But the dog owners see it as a dog that is misbehaving but it is not. Due to your dog's past and current experiences, it is clear that your dog is in need of help from you. I bet you share a lot of affection with him and maybe correct him here and there but not much of structural guidance and clear communication. In order to help your dog, you need to provide your dog's daily five essential needs and to learn what they are please watch the following video: ua-cam.com/video/2bVyNOnaCJ0/v-deo.htmlsi=b8PVqaOZZ_EFiids

    • @SaroDogTraining
      @SaroDogTraining  4 роки тому

      Focus on two things. Basic obedience and off leash training before you start or continue with the agility. The basics will help your dog to to gain confidence. That is the reason why he needs to mark here and there. Focus on getting the basic obedience to 100% rather that 99%, first. Also improve the off-leash control so your dog won't be focused on other things and be focused on you when off-leash.

      Great question. It's not if it's OK or not. It is a sign that your dog is stressed and needs help. When a dog is marking too much, it means that they are overwhelmed and they need help to calm down Just make sure to get your dog's attention to you to help it calm down and you will see, it won't mark as much. I don’t have an issue with my dogs marking inside, but outside. I have 3 1 and a half year old pit mixes. Two are neutered and one is intact. The one who’s intact marks outside in the backyard over the others and I now notice the others started to mark in the backyard as well. I’ve been correcting it. Is that what I should do? I notice it frustrates the intact dog. Can issue occur if I leave it alone? Should I?

      Depends on the dogs. If it is frustrating for any of them, then you need to come up with a plan to make it less.If a dogs is so focused on that part of life, I think it is a sign that there is a lack of leadership and a dog's needs are not met. @@SaroDogTraining thanks for your reply. Can you explain more? Asking because all the dogs are very submissive to me and my husband. Take commands well, walk well, are on routines. Don’t have complete access to all parts of the home, etc. in my opinion, the intact male is not a true part of the dog pack. He wants to be alpha but isn’t and doesn’t want to be #3. Also, what frustrates the intact dog is when I stop the marking. Otherwise he’s a happy dog.

    • @SaroDogTraining

      If the marking is so important to him, it seems to me that he needs a bit more leadership as he is not neutered and the hormones are taking over. You can either be more on top of him and reinforce to be not so focused on the other dogs or you can just let him be as this could be a good stimulation for him as long as it is not frustrating him. You'd be the judge.

    Helllllpppp😫 I have a 5yr old neutered Yorkie and and 18m old spayed Yorkie. Since getting my girl my boy has been marking all over! We’ve tried so many things. Our girl is still working on pt’ing. We use a dog door and she’ll whine to us and walk to the door but won’t go out until we walk over and tell her to go. Sometimes she won’t and she’ll go inside. I know he’s marking due to the change, I’m just at a loss how to make it stop. Unfortunately he’s not kennel trained, she is. He has awful separation anxiety and when trying crates he poops and pees and moves the crate several feet. I don’t think that’s healthy. When we hate him he knocks it down and still marks all over. You say to keep him close on a leash. Will this be a forever thing? I guess that’s my concern. How do they just “learn” to not do it and we can let him off leash eventually? And for when gone what do you suggest? He marks every where no matter the room we confine him in as well. Walls, baseboards everything😞 Any suggestions are appreciated. I’ve been through several videos, you’re a great trainer🙏🏻 Thank you.

    I believe that "competition" is the reason one of my dogs "marks" any toys that are left on the floor by any of the other dogs or anything that just happens to be put temporarily on the floor . I have 5 Papillons and one Sheltie. It is rare that I catch the one who is the "marker" ... all the dogs are house/potty trained. The culpret is very attached to me and is certainly not lacking in attention. Do you have any more suggestions, other than a revision in potty training or more training, such as advanced obedience or tricks? He is 4 years of age. I forgot to add that one of the young Papillions has the habit of peeing on his food bowl when he finishes his dinner ... a different reason for "marking" but nevertheless just as stressful for me. HELP!!

    • @SaroDogTraining
      @SaroDogTraining  6 років тому +1

      I have a feeling that there are too many dogs and that causes tension and stress in dogs if they are not following human cues. This happens in dog daycare or boarding places. What I mean by that is that, all the dogs need to be distressed by being trained so their confidant level can get up. I suggest working on each of them a bit everyday for about a month, teaching them to get cues from you and follow your cues, especially the ones that you know are the culprits. At the moment, they are doing things on their own and they think that the human is not in charge so they need to be in charge. I will suggest you to watch the following video and try to practice this with each one of them individually for about a month and see if you get enough results. ua-cam.com/video/lRiNRP8FZfY/v-deo.html P.S. The one who pees in his food bowl, is really confused and stressed. Work on him a bit more. Please let me know if you have any follow up questions.

    When you say limit their freedom do you suggest tethering them to me as I do housework or chill on the couch? How long should this last? While I'm cooking I tie my beagle to a dining room chair so that he doesn't come into the kitchen he can easily see me and I communicate with him throughout cooking the meal and often reward good behavior such as sitting and waiting patiently but it often takes him over 30min to settle down jumping up and down on the chair and constantly whining to get untied...

    • @SaroDogTraining
      @SaroDogTraining  6 років тому

      Yes, you can tether your dog to you, to an object, in the crate... so they can b supervised. You do that until your dog learns that needs to stay calm in that spot. This could last five minutes or five months. You repeat this until your dog learns what you expect. Try to focus on physical and mental stimulation before asking your dog to stay calm. So, you are dealing with 2 issues. Separation anxiety and excessive peeing. The excessive peeing is due to being stressed and the stress is due to being away from the parents. If you want to train them to tolerate it, you can't train them. The owners need to do it. Your job should be keeping them mentally and physically stimulated so they won't focus on the separation.

I have stopped letting them all in the house, I do still let them in my bedroom with wood floor and a door to the backyard which is always open for them to come in and out. I keep an eye on him and correct him when caught in the act. I’m going crazy with all of the marking!! I don’t want to tie him up as I work long hours. I believe he’s just marking saying this is his territory and not for other reasons. I don’t know what else to do. I’ve always been able to train my dogs but always got them when puppies. Your new dog is just feeling "non confident". That's because he is new in your house, new environment and new lifestyle. Especially that there are other dogs he feels less confident. It's not that he is marking his territory. He is marking to say that he is a tough guy but I bet he is not a tough guy at all, right? He is a softy, sweet boy. So, what you need to do is few things to bring his confidence up. One of them is to start a training session at home to go over the basics. I have a almost 9 year old rottweiler. He was neutered at around 2 years old, after he had already started "hiking the leg" to pee. He's a great dog, well trained, listens to "come", "sit", "stay", etc... but he marks. It's almost like he can't help it. We had to start keeping him in the garage during the day bc he can't be trusted inside. Now when I come home, he will have peed somewhere in the garage, almost everyday. I look at it, then look at him, and he puts his head down bc he knows that it's bad. It sucks bc I have to keep him right where I am, all the time. Even when I'm home, I can't let him go walk around the house unsupervised bc he might mark something. It's not as likely if we are there, but there's no telling. He'll do a quick "drive by" if he thinks we can't see him.
    He doesn't do the "mark a little bit everywhere" type. He'll mark 1 time, MAYBE twice during the whole work day. I don't think it's a confidence thing. It's almost like he is just triggered to do it. He knows it's bad, as soon as I see it he lowers his head and gets his "sad" face on, but he does it almost everyday.
    We're at a point now where he's basically on a leash, in the same room with me when I'm home, leash wrapped around the bedpost at night so he can't roam the house and mark, then in the garage while we're not home. It sucks that we can't just let him walk around the house, or that i have to be holding on to a leash all the time, getting it caught on things, having my arm pulled while I'm trying to do other things, etc. I don't know what to do, or if it's too late since he'll be 9 in February. I've definitely decided that I'm only having female dogs from here on out.

    • @SaroDogTraining
      @SaroDogTraining  5 років тому

      This is a sign that he is stressed or anxious or even concern about something in his life or your life. He is communicating to you and is trying to tell you something. If you feel that he is well trained and is not the confidence thing, then look deep into your relationship and you life with your dog. You say that you don't trust him. That is a problem. If you can't trust him, I think, he can't trust you either. Maybe that will give you a clue. Work on building trust and find out what is it that bothers him? Maybe being left home alone (in the garage) is causing him be anxious!

    • @MansterBear
      @MansterBear 5 років тому

      Saro Dog Training yea, I only mean don't trust him as far as marking, just to clarify. I trust him as far as being loving and nice to people. Rolling around on the floor w my son, etc.
      We've had periods where he was ok, though would still mark sometimes. It's off and on I suppose. Hes been in the garage during the day for the past several months. Before that he could be out but we'd put a "doggy diaper"belly band type thing before that and let him stay in the house. Sometimes it's be clean, sometimes he peed in it, but then he started getting it off enough to pee on things. That's when we resorted to the garage routine.
      I could crate him. That might be better than the garage as far as him possibly being stressed in the garage. He was crated for the first few years of his life but hasn't been in one for years now.
      My relationship with him outside of the being in the garage part is fine other than the contentions over marking. Hes in the room with me while I play piano, or work on the computer. He sleeps on my side of the bed every night and I constantly show him affection and praise him for good things. Maybe bringing the crate back and getting him some more exercise will improve things.
      Thank you for the response!

    • @SaroDogTraining
      @SaroDogTraining  5 років тому

      I think the crate would be a good idea. Dogs are happier when having a smaller space for sure rather than the entire garage. Have a happy holiday season.

      These are really good questions. One thing is for sure form what you describe is that your min pin, is stressed for some reason. • @SaroDogTraining

      The reason they do that is because they live under the same roof and are getting competitive among each other. That's because they don't see you as the person in charge even though, they don't do it in front of you. If you were, they wouldn't do it all. So, you want to focus on each individual for the next few weeks and work with each one of them for 15 minutes a day, training them. So, each one gets a 15 minute session with you every day or every other day for few weeks. • @SaroDogTraining
      @SaroDogTraining  6 років тому

      That's a fantastic question. It is not that Gero is dominant. He is actually lacking confidence and the reason he is marking because he is not confidence. A confident dog does not need to mark everywhere. A confident dog will pee once because he or she does not need to prove that it is tough. A dog who is lacking confidence needs to mark to prove to him/her self that is tough dog. So, the way you address this behaviour is by working on the training the basics on Gero more to bring his confidence level up. I have a feeling that you and Gero are not ready for the ring yet. You need to work on the basics more before letting him off - off - leash in the ring. How long have you been training him for? How old is Gero?

      You can't have a cake and eat it too. Change your diet so your body can fight the allergy issue that you have. Stop eating carbs and sugar and processed food and sacrifice for not only your own health but for your dogs sake. That way, you won't be reactive to them and they don't have to be locked up in a certain part of the house. Dogs want to be with you and separating them from you stresses them so they pee to let you know how they feel.

We are going to practice taking our dog out more frequently when visiting others so that she has more opportunities to pee outside, and we had her spend an hour outside today just relaxing to get her calmed down in case it was from being overstimulated. If a dog is fully house trained, it won't feel to do it's business indoors in general. If a dog chooses to do it indoors, it's a sign that one, it's not fully house trained or the environment is stressing it out so the dog is leaving a message to other dogs or people about its feelings. So, in your dog's case, I would keep it on a leash or under control during the stay at someone else's place.

She is calm potty trained and amazing. I want to bring her mommy and her male friend to live with us. I'm not sure how the male will react with the new daughter he's never seen. I also think they will be using the bathroom inside since they were never trained . Do you think the male will pee even more with two females in the house? They are both 8 and the daughter is 6. Also should I get him neutered at this old of an age? Even if he isn't interested in sex? Does it really calm male dogs down? Keep your dog on leash and under control as much as you can while BC is at your place and while they are not interacting. If they are playing, socializing and interacting, that is fine but as soon as they stop, put them on leash and keep them under control. Also watch the following video for more details. ua-cam.com/video/yUUjrPdpbEk/v-deo.html

      It stresses him so don't let him watch outside and provide a calm area for him to rest after you have provided enough mental and physical stimulation.

    My dog is really well toilet trained at home and in other peoples houses and we haven’t had a problem until we have started taking him to obedience classes. This week was his second week and he pee’d in the lesson 5 times as well as two he had before he went in, one outside in the middle of the class and he also did one of these pees on my foot. I don’t know why and I don’t know how to help him. Next week we are going to try a later class where there are less dogs and see if maybe he was overwhelmed but other than that I am at a loss! Any advice would be amazing, thank you for your help and producing this video!

      The group classes usually stress dogs and that is a normal beahviour of dogs who are not ready to be in a group dog training yet. Try private training for now to train your dog at home with a trainer or use my online dog training course to train your dog at home to bring his confidence level up and then try group classes.

    Is not also social media or posting a motivation for this behavior? My dog like to take wallks down town at the board walk along the water front. He is sniffing the smells and from time to time he finds something he deems worthy of a response. thats my story of it anyway. He's not stressed and he his having a great time on the walk. gets to go swim, and explore the town. meet lots of people and other dogs as well. he is single and well I thought maybe he was posting on a singles wall ? how else might this be understood? He is a 5 yr old border collie /Shepard mix.

    My dod is three years old and still peeing inside the house. I tried everything with him like take him out for 3 times a day and once we are back after a few minutes he pees inside

    • @SaroDogTraining
      @SaroDogTraining  Рік тому

      I understand that dealing with a dog who continues to pee inside the house can be frustrating. Here are a few suggestions to help address this issue:
      Consistent and frequent bathroom breaks: Ensure that you're taking your dog outside for regular bathroom breaks throughout the day. Consistency is key, so establish a routine and stick to it. Consider increasing the frequency of bathroom breaks, especially after meals, playtime, and naps.
      Positive reinforcement for outdoor elimination: When your dog successfully goes to the bathroom outside, provide immediate praise, treats, and positive reinforcement. This helps them associate going outside with positive experiences and encourages them to repeat the behavior.
      Supervise and restrict access indoors: Until your dog is reliably house-trained, it's important to closely supervise them indoors. Use baby gates, closed doors, or crates to limit their access to areas where accidents commonly occur. This allows you to intervene and redirect them to the appropriate bathroom spot if needed.
      Clean accidents thoroughly: It's crucial to clean any indoor accidents thoroughly to remove the scent. Dogs have a strong sense of smell and may be attracted to the same spot if they can still detect the odor. Use a pet-specific enzymatic cleaner to eliminate any lingering scent.
      Consider using a crate or confinement area: Utilizing a crate or confinement area can be helpful in preventing accidents and teaching bladder control. Dogs instinctively avoid soiling their sleeping area, so crate training can aid in house-training and promoting appropriate elimination behavior.
      Consult a veterinarian: If you've tried these techniques consistently and your dog continues to have frequent accidents, it may be beneficial to consult with a veterinarian. They can rule out any underlying medical conditions that may contribute to the problem.
      Remember, house-training requires patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement. It may take time for your dog to understand and develop a consistent bathroom routine. With a combination of proper training techniques and patience, you can help your dog overcome this behavior and achieve successful house-training.

    My 1 year old pug is now beginning to mark often inside the house. Whenever we take him for a walk he marks everywhere. We have the living room closed off and we keep bathroom and bedroom doors closed but if we forget to close the door he goes in and marks by toilets, the corners of our beds, curtains, and rugs. He has even been marking on our pillows. He used to never mark in the dining room or kitchen (where he is allowed in our house) but now we have found pee on the side of the kitchen island and on the dishwasher. Whenever we are not home we put him in a playpen. How do we fix this problem??

      It is a sign that he is stressed for some reason. He is communicating it to you and is telling you how it feels and something is stressing him. Find out what is causing him to get stressed. A new member or a new thing? Any changes? How long you had him now? Can you think of anything that may cause him to get stressed?

    • @SaroDogTraining
      @SaroDogTraining  6 років тому +3

      This is a very common issue that some dog owners go through. You need to keep your puppy under control as much as you can. Keep it in a crate or on leash by you. Try to take your puppy as often as you can to the bathroom area or outside and wait until it does it's business. Once it does, you praise it. If it doesn't, you bring it back home after about 15 minutes, keep it on leash by you or put it back in the crate for another hour. Take the dog out after an hour and try it again and repeat. Don't let it free in the house to go and fin a place to do. This is called potty training which you have to teach it to your dog. For more info watch the following video as well. My 12 year old lasa just moved from my ex's house to be with me. Unfortunately, I have to keep her in a bathroom during the day for about 8 hours a day with 1 walk at the 4 hour mark because of work. (I do potty her before work and after) She has never been alone before and will pee in the bathroom and whine. I've tried to put her in a crate and she hates it. She won't engage with a long filled with treats or anything. How can I potty train her when I can't be there to watch her?

    • @SaroDogTraining
      @SaroDogTraining  4 роки тому +1

      Based on your situation, working 8 hours and coming home in 4 hour and your dog being a 12 year old, I think that is the best you can offer and expect. A 12 year old can hold it for 4 hours unless she has medical conditions that she won't be able to hold or needs to be going more often. In that case, I would hire a professional to take care of my dog.

      I think for her age and condition, she has the right to whine, because she may be in pain or uncomfortable. Try to provide the best situation and condition for her. Small changes in yours and her life can cause stress and anxiety which can cause her to expressing them by whining. All the best and love from me to you and your dog.
