    Your asked for a review of the MDRD team. So here goes. 1st off I give u 15 stars. I have borderline stage 3/2 CKD that has gotten much better since I got real strict about my plant based eating behavior. Ur talks about protein ingestion was particularly helpful cuz no doctor told me about that. I'm 74 going on 50 (unofficial bio age) & am eating & exercising so I can be in decent shape when I get old. Michelle is very help on diet suggestions & makes good logical sense. And as for you Dr. H, thx for all your helpful insights on a topic even my kidney docs seem to neglect. If I am fortunate enuff to live a long life it will be in no small part to you two. With a grateful heart I say thank you & wish you both peace & blessings every day.

    Thanks. I am in Australia. I have a hard time convincing doctors here that 120 is the new guideline. Even when my systolic is130 they say it is ok.

    DI am at end stage CKD, my GFR is at 18 right now. I am not planning to have dyalisis because of my age and also I have a bunch of other diseases and I don't want to put myself through 3-4 times a week and several hours at a time.
    My blood pressure is low, sometimes from 96/60 through early teens, today it was 102/58
    Is this a conern, I feel my BP medicines should be adjusted.
    I've lost 40 lbs since April 20th through eating plant based whole food, no meat, very little salt. I take my BP every day and record it, I also record my weight daily

    If anyone thinks that their food is bland, they aren't really hungry. Our minds are always playful but not neccesarily in a good way, habit though is the danger.

    I can't reduce salt too much, it brought me to hospital with severe hyponatremia.... I have learned to balance it out. Is there a method to check the fluid inside the tissue?

    I have a question - at my doctor's office they hurry me into the exam room, talking (answering questions) the whole way and I sit up on the exam table and they take my blood pressure immediately. Arm is not heart level, I've been walking quickly just moments before and actively talking. It's high. At home it's not high and I have told my doc that for years and lately I've insisted that he take it again later on in the exam. When he does that (at the end of the exam) it's nearly normal (much lower than at first) For years he's been documenting the high number and before I went WFPB he had me on bp meds. Now no meds but I want to stress to people to stand up for yourself at your exam. I guess the question is - are they doing this bp check wrong?

    • @PlantBasedKidneyHealth
      @PlantBasedKidneyHealth  2 роки тому +3

      Its very common practice to check bp at the end of visit when we think there might be an issue. Thank you for pointing out this out.

    I have a question about Nutrition Yeast, Brewer's Yeast... High in vitamins & minerals, beta-glucan... but those products are made in a lab and I was wondering how hard they are on our kidneys. Thank you Dr Hashmi and Michele.

    I have SLE, I exercise w weights regularly and on the outside i look great (pretty lean) but I have high blood pressure (even w meds still in the 130s/80s). I definitely get white coat syndrome and in general am a more anxious person. I never thought of the sympathetic NS being on overdrive. I also eat a lot of animal protein but plenty of fruits and veggies. Maybe I could reduce the protein and look into meditation to help. Kindeys and lupus been stable for a while but not improving.

    What's the difference between Sodium in urine vs blood? Can you explain our urine sodium levels and how to monitor those?
    Are those 14 in one urine dip sticks accurate? any recommendations?
    If taken off ace & arb cause causing kidney damage what else is there? Still on beta blocker; Lopressor. But blood pressure still high.
    Any ways to make blood vessels soft again?
    Why is a bottom blood pressure number so low. Like 127 over 60? Ayn way to raise the bottom Number and decrease the pulse width so it's not 70?
    Is COQ10 and Turmeric / curcumin generally safe for people with kidney disease? What labs would make it not recommended?

    When you go whole foods plant based you loose your craving for salt. I was the one at the table that floated salt on my food. Now if something is salty I can't rinse it outta my mouth fast enough. I love things like Parsley, dill, peppers, onions, garlic, cummin and ginger.
    Food is so much better when it's fresh.

    Hi. I’m learning a lot from you guys so thank you for that. I just have a question. My friend has ckd stage 5. His sodium level is normal no swelling or edema but his blood pressure is high. He’s not on dialysis yet. Do u think he needs to limit his fluid intake?

    • @PlantBasedKidneyHealth
      @PlantBasedKidneyHealth  2 роки тому +1

      This is difficult without seeing the person and reviewing all their labs. In general, people can have more sodium and fluid then what shows up on a physical exam or labs
