- Ciao everyone! Today I'm recreating Spring Summer 2024 fashion runway outfits using clothes I already own. I use elements of style to shop my closet, make new outfits out of old clothes, and save money and reduce fashion consumption in the process. It's also a great way to find your personal style without shopping. I hope you like these looks, let me know if you think they're a hit or a miss!

A magazine (remember them? I think it was Redbook) used to feature an item (dress, jacket, trousers etc) worn/styled for women of different ages. 20s, 40s, 60s. Different shoes, lengths, layering, etc. It was very interesting and inspirational. Maybe Alyssa could team up with her mom again to ‘recreate’ this approach.

Always enjoy your fashion tips! (I'm 78 years old BTW, but still learning .... 🙂) As to wearing the high black boots, IMHO I feel your hair color and its style also balances out the look.
Love how the key word is letting the outfits “inspire” you. You are trying to show us the difference between being inspired by an outfit, to create something with what we have, for ourselves, rather than trying to copy it.
Alyssa can you address fashion for 60 and over. I use so much of your advice but would love a way to wear for me i am visual so would love more inspiration

There isn't a shop or section in any mall or section that is by age once we are adults. . Wear what is comfortable. If you are not comfortable wearing something, don't wear it. If you not wanting to show any part of your body, don't wear it. If you want to wear jeans, try on all styles usually a straight cut suits any body, be sure the right size. White shirt. Try before you buy. A jacket again go browse.

I am 66 and would definitely like to see something that isn't a mini skirt but still sexy and funky...
@annasaravo judging from the number of people who like your suggestion, it would seem Alyssa has a bit of 60+ following. My guess is that those of us who are in that category would have loved to have had a resource like Alyssa’s channel back in the day (very pre-internet). For me, Alyssa’s content resonates, in large part, because I grew up “shopping my closet” (and my mother’s) out of necessity, and as a creative outlet - although, don’t get me wrong, I have always loved to shop (I come by that honestly, thanks to my mother 😊). I could analyze to death why the content of a smart, creative, likeable, beautiful content creater like Alyssa appeals to me, a 61-year-old women, but will leave that to my private musings and just keep coming back every Sunday for more. Thank you Alyssa. Please keep doing what you are doing, and perhaps keep us 60+ women in mind every once in a while 😎.

Been watching videos for 2 yrs. Still struggling. But you shared your structured blazer with knit sleeves. How you like structure but comfort. CHANGED MY LIFE. It took a couple years for me to learn I belong back in blazers. I invested in Sézane, Lauren, Everlane etc.BUT I travel. A lot. So I had a great wardrobe sitting at home. Now I have found fine-weave heavy structured knit blazers. Perfect. Can stuff in a backpack! CHANGED MY LIFE. TY

Alyssa I love how you deconstruct the elements of the look rather than copy & paste recreate the look. I learned so much from this video in terms of how to approach inspiration pics. You were so creative with the looks- especially the black shirt under the structured bustier with the slouchy jeans. What a great video!
So good! I think you could take the white dress and the tall boots anywhere. Coffee, lunch, girls night out at a fabulous patio bar with a reggae band, the grocery store (you’d look so iconic and mysterious everyone would wonder what recipe you’re shopping for). You look hot in all of these outfits, because you’re in shape. I’ve found that when a person is within the normal weight range for their height, they tend to look great in whatever they choose to wear. Somehow everything just works! I’m still trying to drop a few of those vanity pounds that I gained during pregnancy. Almost there!

The last outfit could be worn in nyc in the summer even with combat boots.
I do it all the time and always have. Be critical when you make your initial purchase and you can outmanouvre the fashions as they come and go. Buying better lasts longer. And you can look real good!

I live on the California coast and can see wearing the last outfit, the white dress during the day with flat sandals. The fog rolls in and the evenings are cool even in the summer, then just changing the sandals to the boots to go to dinner.

I applied you relements of style the other day when I saw several outfits with a midi skirt with front slit. Took a skirt I already own and wore it backwards. I loved it. Did not need a new skirt and now have another way to wear something I already own and like. Thankyou.

Now I want to see the striped sweater, mini skirt, and chunky black boots styled for fall. I really like it with the boots, much more than the trainers, but it does have the fall vibe. If you change the color of the skirt, what does that do?

Hi, Alyssa... I love your creativity! Do you have any suggestions for how to get yourself out of the rut of seeing something as "Not You", when it's actutally just not something you've developed the habit of wearing, so you view as a bit off?
Love your content! Do you ever force yourself to wear your lesser-worn pieces? How do you put your lesser-worn pieces through a trial, of sorts? I have tried pairing my own lesser-worn pieces with my go-tos, but I end up just wearing my go-tos…

Loving your style but I am 5'3" /115# and it's challenging to find the proper scale of clothes/boots (i need slim calf , shorter shaft height) to carry it off and avoid looking stumpy🤣

it always blows up my mind when bloggers or magazines combine things from different seasons. Like a part of your body will feel uncomfortable for sure. If its summer then you feet would roast in boots. But it is the same when they wear heavy sweaters with sandals - either your upper body is sweating or your feet are frozen. It does look good but I am not ready to suffer

Thanks for not addressing a persons age in your videos. If a person is dressing in a modern way according to their personal style then their age isn’t usually set apart. No other group of women are targeted by their age. It always seems like ageism to me. 💕
I have concerns. May have missed some critical episodes...but, where is that chic sidekick, - Apollo? I have not seen him feature in videos lately??? Neither have I seen evidence of his fur (cat approval) on your clothes??? What is he doing?
