The engine room on Freedom is absolutely pristine. Your pride in your boat is so obvious with the care that is taken to keep an engine room so clean. Side note, is Dennis married?😁
If it stopped making water, is it still a water maker? 😉😂
Note to editor: when you report a mechanical calamity you have two choices, report back when it is resolved or if it proved to be a boring nothing burger go back and delete the initial report and spare us the worry.
I am surprised your boat does not have a buffer or day tank, it would have saved the constant switching tanks underway. Beautiful postcard like views.
My parents lived on Pender Island for 20 years and enjoyed every minute! I love Vancouver Island… a paradise!! ❤❤
I appreciated the engine room tour! Beautifully clean, by the way.
Ah, you hit many of my favourite places, Silva Bay, Ganges, PC. We love many others there. Never been in Winter, but know I'm thinking; "why not?"
Great checklist walkthrough for underway! Thanks for sharing! 👍👍
You could see my grandparents house in the shot with the text saying Ganges Barbour I’ve been there every year for 17 years and absolutly love it
Always enjoy your videos, you make it feel like we are there with you.
Definately better weather here in spring, summer, and fall!!! Cheers from Sometimes sunny Sooke!
We stayed at the next slip over in Ganges for New Years. 👍
Super awsome adventure series. Loved it. Thanks so much for sharing.
As we awake to another snow day ( hope it’s the last ) on the West Coast , your video felt like it was today . Another great video. Thank You 🙏
Between 1977 and 1980 I was in the US Navy test firing torpedoes in the Georgia Straights. Nanoose Bay, Nanaimo, Winchelsea Island was our command center. Memories.
I know you guys are dying for warmer climates, but we truly appreciate you showing what PNW winter cruising is all about. At least you are aboard the right vessel. Stay warm and keep on cruising!
Rough and boating in the same breath tickled me….
Love your winter trips - enjoying the variation from the usual summer cruising. 😊
Great Vid Guys. Glad to see you had a good time. It was beautiful!!!
Love your videos! You are both so kind and professional. Thank you for posting these great trips. 😊
Yeah I went boating today. 88 degrees, water temp 77 degrees and I even got a little sunburn. Of course I'm in SWFL but I've lived in snowbelts most of my life and I don't care to see the white stuff anymore. Always beautiful after the first real snowfall but it's the ensuing three month's of winter after that sucks.
I used to live on Protection Island in Nanaimo Harbour. I love seeing Vancouver Island. Thanks. Cheers.
Yes, it's been a pretty cold winter in the pnw, but we will appreciate the spring that much more when it finally arrives!
I like the map zoom and pan that you've included in this video to show your route. Are you using google earth studio? I've watched all your M/V Freedom videos, great job.
We're from Northern Ontario and in the process of buying a cruiser, for the purpose of exploring the Pacific Northwest. We flew into Vancouver last weekend to see some boats on the Island and Sunshine Coast. Had to stop in the beautiful Pender Harbour, just because we saw how pretty it was in your video. Thanks for the inspiration!
Another great video
I'm from Sydney, Australia... I just can't imagine living in the cold icy environment.. we hardly get a frost!! years ago, i visited a colleague in Ottawa.. after visiting a jazz club (also run by a former colleague), we got into his vehicle for a drop off at my hotel.. it was -6 Celsius.. he said,"it's bloody cold but we actually like it!" .. North America in winter sure is different.. I have never had to scrape ice off the inside of a car's windscreen either, like I did there !!.. as usual your videos are inspiring and I am thoroughly enjoying the journey with you.. btw.. today, it is 30 Celsius here !!
Minus 6 is t-shirt and shorts weather still that minus 56 is a bugger though.
As a Canadian, I can tell you, -6 Celsius, in Ottawa is almost a nice winter day, although I live in Vancouver (across from the gulf islands) where it’s quite temperate, the rest of Canada has experienced -35 to -45 on many occasions this winter
Thank you both for taking us along with you on your wonderful adventures.
Toujours aussi bon MERCI
Next trip you guys have to stop over at Thetis Island, hands down one of our favourites in the Gulf islands
Love your content!🤙
Awesome Video!
Another great video! Awesome editing as well!!!
Great program
On my phone at 18:21 I'm thinking damn that's a lot of limes he's buying..on the computer, oh they're Brussels sprouts..Congtats on another A1 video!
great video! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you guys for Silva Bay...
excellent video nice tour thank you
Safe travels from the Comox Valley. Thanks for sharing.
Y'all have a great a great channel. We have been subscribed for a few years now. Thank you
Love the “quarter after now”.
Enjoyed the Engine check underway, when and what's.. Was great!
You are best! And the video is very high quality, filmed! Thanks for the positive vibe!
Another wonderful video, even if it is winter with snow. That snow sure melted fast. Nice to watch the engine room check. Thanks for sharing.
Saw you on this journey via AIS while it happened. Really been enjoying the videos. Thanks for sharing your epic trip.
You guys never disappoint. We remember our times on our boat with our fur babies….God Speed….
I really enjoyed the music track with your entry into Ganges. Seemed to fit nicely.
Thanks so much for your excellent and engaging videos of the beautiful Northwest which we lived in for several years. Many memories. We enjoy The background music, your commentary, and the kind respect to show each other.
I watched you go by as you sailed through Baynes Sound
BTW, thanks for buying the boat and covering the costs of all the maintenance etc, and taking these great videos, so that I can live vicariously through you two. Seriously.
Great photos with the dogs!
Winter and summer are both great times to cruise “my” islands. Enjoy
It's nice to see you out cruising while most boats are hibernating.
Great vid, and this must be the best kept NHn 🙂
Nice Tub!
Hey, welcome to the Island! Hello from Sidney BC!
That marina at Ganges is nice now that it’s been rebuilt. We walked up the dock to Moby’s many a time.
I love swimming in the rain. I Wish I Was There at Poet's Cove. Great episode. I'm not sure I would like to do much boating in the freezing cold like you had there with everything you touch or want to touch frozen or covered in inches of snow. Ugh! 🥶
You Guys are so cute! I’m beginning to get hooked on your channel, btw: love the camera work, choice of shots, just the class of your filming in general.
Totally agree
Really good video. You all make it fun no matter what the weather is. I follow a sailing channel also called Sweet Ruca. Noticed the sign pointing to Patagonia. That is where they are now after rounding cape horn. You all keep having fun and stay safe.
I love your videos
I was wondering if you could put a date stamp on when it was filmed
Love your videos! Love to follow you. When do you plan to cross the Atlantic and visit Norway/Scandinavia ore/and Europe ??
Ya’ll didn’t need to leave WI for snow…. We got about 17.5” last week by Rice Lake.
NICE
Tyvm from Saturna island
Nice video and music folks , I liked travelling to those destinations in summer, brave of you to travel in the winter.
Yes nothing better to sit in a hot tub in winter . 🙂
Have you ever thought about travelling to the south coast of California and even down to Mexico ?
Nice
Thank you for sending me down a rabbit hole of BC lighthouses! I finally figured out that the cool lighthouse we see on the island at 6:13 is called Chrome Island.
Another great video kids....I am surprised a certain persons OCD didn't have him diving into the water maker problem...hahahaha
Nice TV voice
I think it's high time to turn MV FREEDOM into 'Heat Seeking South-haven'. The snow and ice is just fun for giggles but enough already :) Best of luck
I can`t see how yall stay in that cold weather, Burrrrr. ready for the warm to come in......be good
It's not really that cold and it was only temporary. It gets cold up north and in the prairie provinces, -35ºC or worse for spells. -3ºC is nothing.
Passage between Gabriola and Valdez can be pretty exciting. :)
It's always an adventure. I think that's why I enjoyed it so much.
Woke up one morning to 3 inches of snow in the cockpit. It was not in the forecast. Surprise! Odd for snow in CT in mid October.
Really enjoy your adventures.
Q? In your boat tour video I don't remember mention of A/C or a heat exchanger. Suppose not needed or common in the North West. 🙂🙃
Be interesting to see you both down in Mexico, you don't seem to leave Seattle for anywhere but north. It is stunning up there though.
I wouldn't stay in these latitudes for winter if I wasn't stuck here. You have a boat. Why aren't you in Cabo?
I only like the cold and snow when I'm sitting on a snowmobile. Getting old sucks, but it beats Hell out of the alternative, which is holding your breath forever with dirt in your face. ❤ you guys.
Buy a box!
@@gbsailing9436 Have you priced them? What a racket.
@@guscarlson7021 LOL. I can offer you a good price on one, but you'd have to ship it to the states from Australia. Looks like your for the crematorium then...Go for cardboard, much cheaper...
Thanks...I've got an old cardboard box in the garage. It was good enough for Pops.
Holy, no bikini shots? A polar bear swim perhaps, not embracing the opportunity lol. Good show....ok at the end of course. Jim Vancouver
Good Day. Luv your video as always. Recently my wife has started watching your shows she loves them as well. I tried contacting u on your website but it’s not working. Some time ago I thought I watched videos of when u purchased and had your beautiful vessel delivered. I’m trying to find them to show the wife. If u have them r they available for viewing? Thanx be safe
I'm more of the hot-tub type than the snow. I guess that's why I keep our boat in San Diego. Be safe!
Hot-tub in the winter is amazing, better that in th heat
The darker the sky, the brighter the stars. The colder the PNW, the warmer down south (Mexico)
Why can’t drivers have a CHOICE OF WHOM THEY ARE PICKING UP? That’s called FREEDOM OF CHOICE and Canada gives you that!!!
Buck up. Are you not both from Wisconsin?😊 I left there right after my college years at Lawrence in freezing Appleton via Mequon. Lived in Magnolia, Bainbridge and Indianola since 1988. 4 different boats at Lockhaven Marina. Now in Virginia. Love your production quality and content. Keep up the great work.
Appreciate seeing BC how I remember it - gray and wet. As a youngster I was a BC bust pilot on the coast, and remember most of the places you've been. Out of interest have you navigated up the Pacific side of Vancouver Island?
It was Dino, I saw him breaking the Watermaker. He is a Stinky Dinasoar that doesn't like to bathe.
😄
Thanks guys, how long were you allowed to stay in Canada this time?
You guys put out great content, is Shawn working remote while on these trips?
we in the uk are at the same latitude as Vancouver, we have the gulf stream effect which keep our little island warm tho.
This is a unusual cold snap , my family is from Somerset up I grew up in Victoria Bc which has the same basic weather as Somerset UK
Immaculate engine space. Is it sea water that cools the main shaft?
Was shocked to see you reach under the rotating shaft to check for water dripping. Now imagine you do that again wearing long sleeve shirt or jacket. Absolute death wish. Use a spoon or spatula if you must check it, but NEVER EVER reach in there while shaft is rotating. Damn.
I was cringing at that too. It was probably fine with bare arms, but I wouldn't have done it because I'm a chicken. I also wear full protection and safety guards when using my table saw, but I see plenty of clowns on UA-cam winging it with no ear or eye protection and never any safety guards.
When you switch the fuel feed from Port to Starboard, don't you also have to switch the Fuel Return valve from Port to Starboard? Love the videos.
That really is beautiful, but I wouldn’t be down for more than a week or two. Now summer time?? Bucket List
What a difference a day makes! 😂
Curious how cruising might compare between your boat and your buddy boat, the Sea Ray. Care to share a few thoughts? I want to step up to a cruiser in a few years, starting to learn about the various types.
Hey... can you tell me where you saw the two boats (ships) washed up on shore. We have a place+boat in the gulf islands and would love to check it out. Thanks!
Hey guys. My wife and I are on a Nordhavn down in Mexico. I noticed a Spinn Coffee maker on your counter in a recent video. I've been considering one...how do you like it?
So having both fuel valves closed for a few seconds does not starve the engine? Is the only purpose of a day tank to monitor fuel consumption?
Can't the fuel go from one tank to another on its own? That sounds very tedious
I think that it’s a good thing that you go down to the engine room so frequently however I do have a question: is there not any kind of automatic self leveling system available that would automatically level your tanks?
Wow!!!! 👀 the twins are looking spectacular 😁
I subscribe to 105 YT channels. Yours is the most professional with RAN Sailing very close.
Is that red dyed diesel we see in those filter bowels?
If you had only one choice ...would it be BC...or Mexico ?
B.C!
