I think Krabby/Kingler being Bug type should've been the case from the beginning, and it's easily one of the weirdest cases of why they didn't do so. Sure, crabs aren't insects, but you know what else aren't? Spiders, scorpions, centipedes, and isopods, yet we have bug-type Pokémon based on them. That's because they are arthropods, the family that the bug-type actually deals with. We even have crab-like bug-types in Dwebble and Crustle. Krabby and Kingler should definitely be bug-types.
Hitmonlee could've been flying type instead, thinking of flying kicks and jumping around, while Hitmonchan could've gotten ground type, throwing pinches and not really straying from the ground (think Little Mac from Smash Bros)
The reason crabs and insects have some similar qualities is because insects and crustaceans are both arthropods, a group classified by the traits you listed.
The Pokédex makes Dragonair sound like a Water type, as you said. The anime makes Dragonair look like a Flying type. And the name is DragonAIR. I like the Bug typing for Krabby and Kingler. It is close enough to an arthropod type.
Dratini dragon/water and Dragonair dragon/flying, i think that's work better, also about the krabby and kingler, i think it's ok, since dwebble and crustle aren't bug but arthopods
I know right? The only argument I've heard is it would be too hard to take down if it were immune to Dragon, but are you really gonna determine a Pokemon's type just for balance?
If I had to guess, balancing. Those fat pink blobs may gain two weaknesses in poison and steel, but poison type physical hitters are few and far between and the strongest physical poison type attack I think is gunk shot which would be inaccurate, and steel just like doesn’t attack that much. But worse, they lose their fighting type weakness. Imagine how hard it would be to break them down.
@@emperorcubone Yes, but also no as giving every Metagross a free hunting license for the whole Chansey line would be possibly terrible but probably hilarious.
Would love to see a version of this for each other generation!!!! I've always thought Milotic and Chimecho would have made good fairy types, and Chimecho I could even see being ghost.
for mankey and primeape i see them more as dark types because of how aggressive they are i mean primeape will never stop hunting someone down when they make them slightly mad
I can see Electabuzz and Magmar both being part psychic. They can both learn the Psychic move, and it would connect them both more to their ice-type counterpart Jynx. I’ll never get over the fact that Jynx didn’t get an evolution in 4th gen.
@@patrickdouglas2171 That maybe true but I personally don't see Magmar being dark type. Ground would probably work due to the fact that it's a literal magma bird, and magma is basically just molten ground or rock or something along those line.
For Ditto, I think giving it the Psychic type actually has a really appropriate lore application. There's a popular fan theory that Ditto is the result of the multiple failed attempts to clone Mew on the the way to making Mewtwo, which is why it's pink like Mew, weighs the exact same as Mew, and is the only other Pokemon to learn transform naturally like Mew (also, in the first generation games it's only found in the Pokemon Lab and in the cave where Mewtwo is). Giving it the Psychic type would also strengthen that connection.
I think the Clefairy line could be Psychic Type because it's said that Clefairy come from space and they learn a good variety of Psychic moves (especially Cosmic power)
An interesting thing that could solidify Ninetails and Vulpix getting the ghost typing is because they’re based on nine tailed foxes, mythical beast generally associated with spirits, plus is mentions in ninetails’ Dex entry that it is associated with the spirits of people
The crab louse or pubic louse is an insect that is an obligate ectoparasite of humans, feeding exclusively on blood. The crab louse usually is found in the person's pubic hair. -Wikipedia

When I was young I thought all starters were dual type. I thought meganium was grass/psychic. Same for serperior Samurott was part steel I don't remey what I thought typhlosion was but I thought blastoise was steel type
Charmander line: imagine being a Dragon type and losing it to become Flying LOL poor Charmeleon. Arcanine: Give it normal type for STAB Extremespeed and because it's a dog. Machop line: Rock for me. I used to always use water moves on them because they looked like rock type to me and because of their low special water moves did good damage. Other than that I have no disagreements other than I think some deserved more stars and some deserved less
I think Krabby and Kingler would work as Water-Bug types because, technically speaking, most (though not quite all) arthropod-based pokemon are given Bug-type. Pretty much anything based on spiders, scorpions, insects and crustaceans is a fair game with the Bug-type. Sure, there are some exceptions, but some simply come down to the limitations in game-mechanics _(Drapion would definitely be Poison-Bug-Dark if it could, Kabuto- and Anorith-lines would both be Rock-Water-Bug if possible)._
Ninetales not being ghost type always angered me. How is a Japanese company going to make a Pokémon based on the fox spirits from Japanese mythology and NOT make it ghost....It's literally based on a spirit 😭
When you where talking about charmander and charmeleon i tought to myself maybe make squirtle and wartortle water/rock and blastoise being water/steel would be really cool Awesome you tought the exact same thing
I love this concept! I think I’d make some slight changes. I’d give Growlithe the Normal type because nothing else really seems to fit. Arcanine, however, would be Electric, because speed and type compatibility. When looking through the lore and move pools, the Machop line is largely underwhelming with a primarily Fighting and Normal move pool. So I’d say Normal for them. This would also serve to kind of prove that the Normal typing isn’t so weak as perceived. Grimer and Muk should me Water because they’re based on sludge and Water pollution, just like Koffing and Weezing are Air pollution. I can see Hitmonchan being Flying type because of its speed. I can totally envision Hitmonchan doing that little sid e-to-side boxer bounce and quickly evade attackers. For Goldeen, I’d give the line the Normal typing, because they’re just plain ole fish.
@@Saviarai-Dravolika I think he might be psychic considering he’s a spy. Ghost would make him really cool, but they would have to change the design to fit it.

Now, this is something I have thought of before for some pokemon (mainly the Squirtle line, Metapod, and the Vulpix line). Here's my personal ideas. Charmander line - Fire/Dragon - I mean, they *are* dragons, in a sense. I would also change Charizard to this type, for obvious reasons. Squirtle line - Water/Steel - The pokedex states that the 3 pokemon have very sturdy shells that apparently form from their backs, instead of being there at birth (wut?). I think it makes sense to give them the steel type because of this. Caterpie - Bug/Poison - This is a bit of a stretch, but listen. According to some of it's dex entries, it releases a powerful odor from the feeler on it's head. Since Gloom, another pokemon with a similar dex entry, is given the poison type, I think it makes sense. Metapod - Bug/Steel - It's hard shell is used to protect it from all forms of attack until it evolves. It makes sense to give it the Steel type. Kakuna could also be changed to this type. Rattata line - Normal/Ground - The only type combo that makes sense for the line to me, except maybe Normal/Dark (Which is the type of their Alolan forms). It also helps me explain for a later choice. Ekans line - Poison/Dark - For obvious reasons. Pikachu line - Electric/Ground - Similar reasoning to the Rattata line, being that they are rodents. Sandshrew line - Ground/Steel - This mainly applies for Sandslash, as it's claws are stated to be very useful at digging, similar to mining tools made of steel. Nidoran lines - Poison/Ground - This is where the earlier choice for Rattata comes in. These lines take inspiration from many rodents, like porcupines, rabbits, and mice. Since we gave Rattata the Ground type, and the rabbit pokemon, Diggersby, is also Ground, it makes sense to give these lines the type as well. Clefairy line - Normal/Fairy - For obvious reasons. Vulpix line - Fire/Psychic - This line (moreso Ninetales) have multiple dex entries talking about them having magical powers, such as being able to live for a very long time, and cursing people who grab their tail. Ninetales is also based off of the Kitsune, a Yo-kai with many magic powers, like being able to take human forms. Fire/Ghost also makes sense however, since Yo-kai *are* ghosts. Diglett line - Ground/Normal - Yeah, I can't think of anything else here. Meowth line - Normal/Fairy - Meowth is based off of a Japanese Maneki Neko, which brings good luck and wealth to people. Seems quite like something a fairy type would do. Psyduck line - Water/Psychic - For obvious reasons. Mankey line - Fighting/Dark - Primeape is seen to be always angry, along with having shackles that would not be out of place in a dark area like a dungeon. Growlithe line - Fire/Electric - The Electric type may not make sense design wise, but since the two of them have high amounts of energy (like a dog), as well as the fact that other canine pokemon, like Boltund and Manectric, are also Electric. Poliwag and Poliwhirl - Water/Normal - They don't have many defining characteristics. Besides, they don't learn many Psychic type moves anyway (Only hypnosis via level up). Abra line - Psychic/Ghost - According to some of Kadabra's dex entries, it seems to have some sort of spiritual connection. It would make sense to give them the Ghost type because of that. Machop line - Fighting/Dragon - They do seem to be quite reptilian, similar to Dragons. Machamp in particular seems to draw inspiration from the Hindu gods Shiva and Vishnu, both of which being blue in color and having four limbs, so dragon would help reference such godly origin. Ponyta line - Fire/Normal - Again, I have nothing. Seel - Water/Ice - For obvious reasons. Grimer line - Poison/Dark - It just makes the most sense. They are evil piles of animated sludge. Of course, this does remove the need for the Alolan form, but it's the only type combo that makes sense to me. Shellder line - Water/Steel - Their shells are stated to be harder than diamond, so it only makes sense to give them this type (Yes, I also changed Cloyster's type. It only makes sense to do it like that). Drowzee line - Psychic/Dark - For obvious reasons. Krabby line - Water/Bug - Crabs, as well as all Crustaceans, belong to a subdivision of Arthropods that includes other insects and arachnids. Giving them the Bug type makes sense. Voltorb line - Electric/Steel - For obvious reasons. Cubone line - Ground/Ghost - They do have strong spiritual connections, after all. Hitmonlee - Fighting/Ground - Makes sense, as it fights with it's legs... That's all i've got. Hitmonchan - Fighting/Flying - Here me out. Jackie Chan, the man this pokemon is based off of, uses a very acrobatic fighting style. It would make sense for Hitmonchan to also use this style. And since Acrobatics is a Flying type move, it makes sense to apply the type to Hitmonchan. Lickitung - Normal/Electric - It's saliva is said to cause an everlasting paralysis if not cleaned quickly. It only makes sense to give it the type that causes paralysis, Electric. Koffing line - Poison/Flying - For obvious reasons. Chansey - Normal/Fairy - For obvious reasons. Tangela - Grass/Dark - ...Yeah, idk what to make it. Kangaskhan - Normal/Fighting - It is stated to fight to protect its kin in most dex entries. In Yellow, its entry states that it "Won’t run from any fight to keep its young protected." So giving it the Fighting type makes sense. Horsea and Seadra - Water/Dragon - For obvious reasons. Of course, i'd personally keep Horsea as a mono-Water pokemon, but we can't do that in this case. Goldeen line - Water/Fairy - They do have a quite beautiful design, and some of their dex entries talk about them using their bright colours to attract mates... It's the best I can think of. Staryu - Water/Psychic - For obvious reasons. Electabuzz - Electric/Fighting - It definitely looks like a strong fighter with those arms. Of course, Electric/Dark would also work. Magmar - Fire/Poison - As you stated, Magmar seems to have a big focus on smoke, and it learns a lot of poison moves. Pinsir - Bug/Dark - I mean, both it and it's mega form look quite evil. It also seems to be quite mean while fighting, crushing it's opponents with it's pincers. Tauros - Normal/Dark - It is a raging bull. Seems quite fitting of the Dark type to me. Magikarp - Water/Normal - It is quite normal, even for a fish. While we're on the topic, Gyarados should really be Water/Dark instead of Water/Flying. Ditto - Normal/Fairy - Fairies are quite magical, so it would work with Ditto's transforming. Plus, it would also help with connecting it to Mew (Yes, I gave it the Fairy type as well). Eevee - Normal/Fairy - Sure, it turns into a Fairy type already, but Eevee is quite a magical creature, being able to evolve in so many different environments. Vaporeon - Water/Normal - For obvious reasons. Jolteon - Electric/Normal - For obvious reasons. Flareon - Fire/Normal - For obvious reasons. Porygon - Normal/Electric - It is made of computer code, so Electric makes sense. Snorlax - Normal/Fighting - For the reasons you stated. Dratini and Dragonair - Dragon/Water - They are based off of sea serpents, so it makes sense to give them the Water type. Mewtwo - Psychic/Dark - It is shown to be quite evil it multiple forms of media, so it makes sense. Mew - Psychic/Fairy - Mew and Mewtwo are almost complete opposites when it comes to personality, so it makes sense to give Mew the Fairy type, as it is the opposite of Mewtwo's Dark type. Whew, that was fun. Great vid as always man. Can't wait to see this done for other regions (assuming this wasn't a one-time thing).
Ponyta and Rapidash = Fire/Fairy.....pony & unicorn. Duh Cloyster & Shellder = Water/Rock, cloyster dont need Ice type with dewgong n lapras And yeah krabby/kingler add bug. Crabs are sorta bug like. Makes sense. OG Grimes 'n Muk shoulda been Poison/Dark and Alolan form Poison/Fairy. Rainbows aren't just for fairies though Yeah drowzee and hypno reference sleep, sleep is dark, fo sho lol Goldeen n seaking could go poison but also fairy
I mean, just cause it's got a horn doesn't mean it's a Fairy; Rapidash actually seems kinda mean to me. But I totally agree Cloyster doesn't need Ice so Rock makes sense...
@@emperorcubone Its not because of it being a horn, but because Unicorns are typically associated with fairy tales. And ponies just scream fairy to me as well. Idk I could be making random associations. I DID grow up in the 90's and 2000's

Grimer and muk should be water type since they are piles of liquid sludge. Also, fighting fits mewtwo really well since it was created for the purpose of combat
Goldeen und Golking should be Water/Flying type. I think this should have been their typing from the start and I often find myself assuming they would have this typing. Both have this kind of elegant look and would look like they are flying through their very soft fins while swimming. You can imagine the look of them jumping out of the water really well too
10:28 i mean, crustaceans are a class of arthropod, just like insects, arachnids and centipedes, so if aside from insect like mons, the spinarak and joltik lines plus skorupi (all arachnids) and the venipede line (centipedes) can be bugs, i'm sure crustacean mons can as well

Hypno: no, no, I had an accident with kids napping
- ... that's even worse xd
The reason crabs and insects have some similar qualities is because insects and crustaceans are both arthropods, a group classified by the traits you listed.
The Machop line has to be rock. Find me one kid who didn’t think they were all rock types growing up
The Machop in Vermilion punching down ground for construction made 6 year old me think it was Ground for a hot sec
I thinked was Dragon/Fighting
The Pokédex makes Dragonair sound like a Water type, as you said. The anime makes Dragonair look like a Flying type. And the name is DragonAIR.
I like the Bug typing for Krabby and Kingler. It is close enough to an arthropod type.
Dratini dragon/water and Dragonair dragon/flying, i think that's work better, also about the krabby and kingler, i think it's ok, since dwebble and crustle aren't bug but arthopods
Chanchy line should have been part fairy from the start because their whole thing is healing and also aurdino
Please make for all regions
I know right? The only argument I've heard is it would be too hard to take down if it were immune to Dragon, but are you really gonna determine a Pokemon's type just for balance?
The only time Audino was given the Fairy typing was with its Mega Evolution! They should have kept it Fairy/Normal! I agree!
I just read the title and want a series about it
I had no ideas until today that staryu was mono water. I always thought it was psychic. What?
Dead meme, I know, but... *always has been*
Would love to see a version of this for each other generation!!!! I've always thought Milotic and Chimecho would have made good fairy types, and Chimecho I could even see being ghost.
16:36 its a digital pokemon so electric would be better. it can change size when on a computer and its body is made out of energy materialized...
Digimon
King of consistently coming up with original video ideas
Gen 1 water type: exists
Emperor Cubone (and Gamefreak): make it psychic
Staryu, Slowpoke, Psyduck, Poliwag

Mega Audino: **sweating nervously**
for mankey and primeape i see them more as dark types because of how aggressive they are i mean primeape will never stop hunting someone down when they make them slightly mad
Please do more! I love this concept, especially for final stages of starters. I think they should all have dual types.
I can see Electabuzz and Magmar both being part psychic. They can both learn the Psychic move, and it would connect them both more to their ice-type counterpart Jynx. I’ll never get over the fact that Jynx didn’t get an evolution in 4th gen.
Honestly, a fighting Electabuzz and dark Magmar could make sense to give the trio a better connection
Atually im glad jinx didnt evolve. Its one of my least favorites
That was defiantly an interesting video which I enjoyed a lot I hope you make more videos like this for the other regions
This is one of the most entertaining pokemon-related videos I have ever seen, playing along is actually really fun!!
I think the Clefairy line could be
Psychic Type because it's said that Clefairy come from space and they learn a good variety of Psychic moves (especially Cosmic power)
Keep this series going please! There are more to see that needs a second types
If they made a rock/normal type pokemon it would probably be a fossil ape pokemon
That's not even related to the video
@@decidueyeplayz682 ok
I do agree though; ancient giant sloth is my vote!
@@decidueyeplayz682 God forbid anyone tries to start an interesting discussion
go watch a pokemon xenoverse playthrough in that fangame there is a rock normal fossil ape
yo this is gonna be an awesome series. Looking forward to it.
An interesting thing that could solidify Ninetails and Vulpix getting the ghost typing is because they’re based on nine tailed foxes, mythical beast generally associated with spirits, plus is mentions in ninetails’ Dex entry that it is associated with the spirits of people
Or fairy, like the variant.
‘Krabby and kingler have many insect properties like multiple limbs and a hard shell’
Ah yes, my favourite insect is the crab
The crab louse or pubic louse is an insect that is an obligate ectoparasite of humans, feeding exclusively on blood. The crab louse usually is found in the person's pubic hair.
-Wikipedia
If _all_ starters are dual-typed, here are the new typings, only applies to the single-typed boiz.
_Blastoise_ would be Water / Steel
_Meganium_ would be Grass / Fairy
_Typhlosion_ would be Fire / Rock
_Feraligatr_ would be Water / Dragon
_Sceptile_ would be Grass / Dragon
_Serperior_ would be Grass / Psychic
_Samurott_ would be Water / Fighting
_Rillaboom_ would be Grass / Dark
_Cinderace_ would be Fire / Electric
_Inteleon_ would be Water / Ghost
Note that it's just my opinion, and could be changed.
When I was young I thought all starters were dual type.
I thought meganium was grass/psychic. Same for serperior
Samurott was part steel
I don't remey what I thought typhlosion was but I thought blastoise was steel type
Inteleon should be water/ bug
Hmm, interesting. I'll save some of that for later...
@@emperorcubone totally do this for all generations if you feel like it, the concept it cool :)
Imo serperior is grass dark that stare is menacing
Nice Swampfire reference. Side note, Shocksquatch is exactly what an electric fighting Pokemon would look like.
I've seen someone arguing that Voltorb should be ghost as it could be an actual PokeBall, whose Pokemon died and possessed it
I would love for there to be an Electric/Fighting type and I’m still annoyed that Galarian Zapdos isn’t.
Thunder Punch in a nutshell
I personally believe porygon should be electric. It always confused me that the pokemon that is made of code is not electric.
Really like the concept of this so do more please!
I need more of this. This is awesome
14:43 it deserves 3 stars, since Pinsir's Level-Up move pool always had an orientation towards Fighting Type.
I would looove to see this with another regions, the video is very interesting! :P
At this point I probably will since people seem to really enjoy it!
Another video concept I haven't seen anyone else do! (closest to this I've seen is a few videos on "what if Pokemon had 3 types")
1:34 was not expecting swamp fire to be here
Who's Swampfire? 🤔
This is a great video concept, could make a good series to do it for every region for sure
Ninetales not being ghost type always angered me. How is a Japanese company going to make a Pokémon based on the fox spirits from Japanese mythology and NOT make it ghost....It's literally based on a spirit 😭
Especially as Ghost type was so underused in Gen 1.
8:12 maybe fairy could work better since fairy is the Pokémon type for magic?
When you where talking about charmander and charmeleon i tought to myself maybe make squirtle and wartortle water/rock and blastoise being water/steel would be really cool
Awesome you tought the exact same thing
15:32 of course its a perfect fit, the only moves that do damage it can use are normal type...
Great video
The way you say "pokemon" is very "original anime english dub" and it made me really nostalgic. Someone let this man narrate a pokedex
The normal type suits Mew nicely. It *is* the form all Pokemon evolved from after all
Love that idea! You should definitely do more videos with the other pure-type pokemon from other regions!
Cubone Count:
0:10
1:18
11:08
18:35
I'l do this sometimes :D
This is such an interesting concept, I would love to see more for the other regions!
Muk should be water/poison since it’s very liquidy
Sobble approves
Water / Ghost Inteleon?
@@Saviarai-Dravolika I think he might be psychic considering he’s a spy. Ghost would make him really cool, but they would have to change the design to fit it.
You would be Water/Poison.
@@nickdentoom1173 Slurp heals people. Not kills them.
8:25 missed the perfect chance to give Alakazam a steel typing
quite interesting indeed, gonna be a hard time to choose 2nd type to the pokemons
Yeah, some of them are pretty solidly one type so it can get rough...
Goldeen&seaking=NORMAL. Like u said, they're just plain fish.
This is a really fun idea to play around with. I personally would've made the Voltorb line part ghost based on that "is it just haunter in a pokeball" theory
I'd love to see you do this for other regions if you're willing
OMG POKEMON X WAS MY FIRST POKEMON GAME AND I PLAYED THAT GAME LIKE 8 YEARS AGO THE MUSIC AT THE BEGINNINGN BROUGHT BACK SO MUCH NOSTALGIA
porygon should be normal electric since it is litteraly made of data
Metapod is already perfect as is it.
So close to 100k, love your content
The Abra line could’ve been dark as it has satanic inspirations and rapidash could’ve been fairy because it’s ✨majestic✨

Cloyster & Shellder = Water/Rock, cloyster dont need Ice type with dewgong n lapras
And yeah krabby/kingler add bug. Crabs are sorta bug like. Makes sense.
OG Grimes 'n Muk shoulda been Poison/Dark and Alolan form Poison/Fairy. Rainbows aren't just for fairies though
Yeah drowzee and hypno reference sleep, sleep is dark, fo sho lol
Goldeen n seaking could go poison but also fairy
I mean, just cause it's got a horn doesn't mean it's a Fairy; Rapidash actually seems kinda mean to me. But I totally agree Cloyster doesn't need Ice so Rock makes sense...
@@emperorcubone Its not because of it being a horn, but because Unicorns are typically associated with fairy tales. And ponies just scream fairy to me as well. Idk I could be making random associations. I DID grow up in the 90's and 2000's
I would go Electric for Goldeen and Seaking, since then there is a reason they can learn Lightning Rod.
@@nickdentoom1173 Eh, a horn that draws in electricity is a very weak argument for them to have electric typing IMO. Why not have electric because goldeen's name has gold for it's prefix? Electric type is colored by yellow/gold so that is a good reason. :|
@@mateoskydancer2177 True.

Hear me out, hear me out: Triple Types
Grimer and muk should be water type since they are piles of liquid sludge. Also, fighting fits mewtwo really well since it was created for the purpose of combat
That kind of defeats the purpose of bulking it up to give that type combination to Mega Mewtwo X.
@@Compucles I think he still looks like a fighting type without the mega tbh

Nice video!
Goldeen und Golking should be Water/Flying type. I think this should have been their typing from the start and I often find myself assuming they would have this typing.
Both have this kind of elegant look and would look like they are flying through their very soft fins while swimming. You can imagine the look of them jumping out of the water really well too

10:28 i mean, crustaceans are a class of arthropod, just like insects, arachnids and centipedes, so if aside from insect like mons, the spinarak and joltik lines plus skorupi (all arachnids) and the venipede line (centipedes) can be bugs, i'm sure crustacean mons can as well
Well that makes me feel better!
Pausing this at the meowth line, realizing he's gonna have to give 4 Eevee line second types. Oof
